I'm a Habs fan and I really like what Sergei is doing, BUT . . .

Tavares is clearly the guy for R.O.Y. He is 15 and leading the O in even strength goals, playing PP, penalty kills, etc. I gotta think this kid will win it.

But Sergei is a great player.

Plus minus is an even strength stat. Most of London's scoring has been of the PP variety. this makes it hard to be a positive on the score sheet.

While Schremp is a PP regular I would not call him a "specialist", even though what he does out there is REALLY special. He plays penalty kills too and also has plenty of regular shifts where he plays just as well. In short, his game is not limited to the power play.

If he had stuck with the Oilers he would have been a "specialist" playing almost exclusively on the PP. His role with the Knights exceeds that by a large margin.

I am afraid that the better Rob does in Jr, the Oil might want to yank him back up to the bigs. They are not doing so well with their "regulars".

yeah, if Johnny T wasn't playing this year, then definitely he'd be a strong ROTY candidate

Does Schremp score even strength? I'd be curious as to what the breakdown is.

He must... I doubt he'd have 30 pp pts in 7 games... :dunno:

Not going to happen - they can't do that except under exceptional circumstances (in other words a bunch of their players and AHL alternates are injured or something along those lines - I don't know the specifics). Once you send a player back down the the juniors - he's there until his junior season ends.

Another six point night for Schremp. He's insane.
10 games played, 14 goals and 27 assists = 41 points.

Three more powerplay goals, you have to wonder if these bloated stats are partially a result of the system.

Absolutely. The new rules definately are benefitting him - his strength has always been the power play and there are ridiculous amounts of penalties being called.

I'm not sure where this part of the thread is leading, but, with the number of penalties being called for AND against, when else is a player supposed to score? Think about it.

Whatever the circumstances, Schremp is scoring because he handles and shoots the puck extremely well. He also draws a lot of those penalties too.

As a matter of curiousity I looked at the numbers for Bolland, Schremp, McGrath, Ryan, and Little (5 of the top 6 for points in the O, excluded Dylan Hunter) to see when their points came. below is their even strength point totals and the percent that is of their over all point total.

Bolland 11 25%
Schremp 10 25%
McGrath 12 39%
Little 9 30%
Ryan 12 35%

From lookin at that is simply tells me there isn't much difference on ANY of them at even strength as far as point totals go. The difference in the percentage of their points at even strength simply tells me that London's power play is far superior and thusly is garnering significantly more points for Schremp and Bolland.

To be honest in the "New (insert league here)" I would take great comfort knowing my guys are comperable with the best at even strength and far stronger on the PP.

Just look at Jaro Jagr. 85% of his goals come on the PP too.

Yeah, it really bothers me when people say that he can't score ES, look at his Play-off stats from last year, he scored a lot more ES when the competition level went up and the PP opportunities slowed down.

Schremp is a great player, but I think everyone is overrating him. If it wasen't for the PP, he , and fellow Knight David Bolland, would have a significant drop in points. Also, when I have watched him play, he is a shoot first kind of player, with adequate accuracy. When he does get that shot on net, it hits the back of the net more often than not. Imagine a Bobby Ryan and Robbie Schremp mixture. Schremps shot and skating skills and Bobby's dangles, physical stature, playmaking ability, physical play and vision.

This is actually kind of funny. A guy scores goals on the power play and gets less respect for it as a result.

If I heard tonites pre-game show right, Schremp has score 26 points in the last 9 games and London has not been scoring a lot of goals lately.

Whatever the case is, I am glad he is scoring those points. Too bad it makes him less impressive????? :dunno:

I just opened up a thread on the Oilers HF board listing Robbie's stats, they are broken down game by game and I have listed ES points, 3-star selections etc. I will be up-dating that thread every time that Robbie plays. A quick break down of his stats after 18gp. 24-36-60 3.33ppg, at ES he has scored 9-7-16, and he is a +9 despite his PP wizardry.

Here's the link...

More PP points, this guy just keeps sliding down our prospects chart. If he doesn't stop scoring at this pace he might just lose all respect from all the scouts and not make the Hockey News WJC edition as a key player for the USA team...... oh wait, they already left him out.

Yeah, well remember they also ranked Jani Rita as the top ranked prospect in all of hockey at one time, so maybe it's better if they forget about him??? :sarcasm: :biglaugh:
