Dallas with a bye week. They should be 7-1(collapsed against Washington and Seatlle) but I'n not worried that they are 5-3.

Jacksonville needs to win today. If they lose, they can kiss the playoffs goodbye (inconsistency is their worst enemy).

Just to prove how utterly terrible the NFC North is, the Vikes are laying a *****wiffing on the Lions right now. They are averaging around 10-yards per carry and the Lions have turned the ball over twice inside their own 15.

Vikes are up 24-nothing with 4 minutes to go in the half.

What is wrong with the Jags? Jeez, their offense is non-existent.

I will say I still believe David Carr is a good quarterback. He's finally got his best weapon in Andre Johnson back and he's having a decent game against a good defense. It's a shame he gets sacked 16 time a game.

That's why I feel sorry for him. We have no idea how good he might be because he spends half the game underneath a defensive lineman.

Unlike Harrington who has had the opportunites to fail all on his own, Carr hasn't had the same chances.

Too many drops by the receivers.

One thing that peeves me off is that they don't use Matt Jones a lot. In the first game, they used him in a couple of trick plays, but now they only have him receive the ball. He can do more than that.

While at these they won't get shutout now, 24-7, but it doesn't make a bit of difference. The only thing this game proves is that the Vikes are less terrible than the Lions and slightly better than the Packers. God, the NFC North sucks. Sad thing is, (or maybe because of it) is that Culpepper isn’t even playing.

I just wish someone would drive the Lions out to a desolate field somewhere, and just shoot them. Put them and any long-standing Lions out of their collective misery. Marriucci sucks and Harrington blows.

Atleast Jacksonville has a promising young WR core for the future. Williams, Jones, and Wilford (100+yard game last week, 77 yards today) have looked good this year.

probably just semantics on Reids part since they can only officially suspend him for "conduct detrimental to the team" for 4 games

the Ravens are down to their 2nd former Steeler backup qb and Kordell Stewart is in and looking pretty good so far, granted hes just been handing off and running the ball himself

David Carr has shown glimpses of his potential, even when he's been getting sacked all the time. He had a good season last year and today he seems to be playing very well. Harrington has shown nothing, even with more around him. I just wish Houston would help Carr out. You can't have the future of your franchise getting crushed every game.

Carr has had success against Jacksonville before (Houston won both meetings last year) so it was time for the Jags to beat the Texans.

I feel bad for Carr. Too bad he couldn't play for the other team in Texas, because he would have a lot of weapons to throw to in Dallas (Witten, Johnson, Glenn, Price). He would also have a very good o-line in front of him.

Well, it was a good season while it lasted :shakehead

I can't believe how the Bucs have just done a total 180 on offense. And its not just Chris Simms who, might I add, is slowly throwing himself out of this league, the offense line totally regressed to their 2004 form after making such huge strides in preseason and the first 6 weeks of the season. The running game? Forget about it. Non existent the last two weeks. Michael Clayton is playing hurt, and the only one who's been able to do a thing offensively is Joey Galloway.

And the defense can't get turnovers anymore.

This was a HUGE game, our first divisional game and a home game to boot. And we got smoked. Which means to have a shot at the playoffs, we're probably going to have to steal one on the road against Atlanta, Carolina or New Orleans, which hasn't been easy for us recently.

If we lose next week (tough game against Washington) we're done like dinner.

Those teams were supposed to be better than us. Some people said we wouldn't win five games all year.

Having seen four of the wins, they played really well. They got a fresh Minnesota before the off field dramas, a pretty good Buffalo team, and an improved Miami Dolphins.

And driving all Chargers fans nuts. They should have run away with this game but they almost let it slip away again. :shakehead They need that killer instinct. This is a good football team, but they are struggling at crunch time. A loss this week would have been devestating. Their bye week comes at a great time as hopefully some of the o-line starters and defensive starters can return in a couple weeks. Playoffs are still a definite possibility.

true

up to last week's game the Bucs played really well ... minus the Jets game perhaps ... but other than that the O-Line was really good, same for the defense. Now everytime the defense has a bad 1st drive, they can't do anything else the rest of the game. Of course if the ref would have done his job and called the face mask on Rice then it would have been different. But the Bucs didn't look like they wanted to get back in this game.

Simms showed again he is a rookie. On the 1st Gamble pick, all he had to do is throw the ball away because the play wasn't going anywhere. Easier said than done, but he's got make those plays.

In the end, no o-line no running game, no running game no win

Considering how Peppers has completely abused Kenyata Walker in the past, Walker should be nervous going against Peppers. He's struggled so far this year, but he's still one of the best defensive lineman in the league.

What a terrible "tripping" call on the Raiders d-lineman today. He was tackled by the Chiefs lineman and his legs were tangled with Green. It stopped the clock and gave the Chiefs 10 yards. Then again, they can't give up the huge play they did to Larry Johnson in the closing seconds.

They dont lie when they say, "Joe Theismann's brains were in his leg." The worst experience I've had with football this year was dealing with the ESPN game during the Giants-Saints matchup. The entire crew must have had rug burns on their knees after that one, plus you wouldn't have noticed the Giants throttled them if you just listened to the broadcast.

Jets have a 1st and goal from the 3.

They run it on first down and don't get in, then decide to pass it on the next 3 downs. Are you kidding me? They had 4 downs to gain 3 yards. Should've just kept running it up the gut. Or at least used some play action or something. Two jump balls to the corner of the end zone? Come on now.

Horrible play calling by the Jets.

First off, great win by KC today.

Secondly, I'm just glad the CBS HD feed was actually HD. Last week I tuned into a game on CBS and the HD feed looked like total crap.

Agreed CBS HD for football needs some work. US Open HD was spectacular but the football is terrible compared to FOX Football HD

About damn time, looks like the Eagles are beginning to fall apart. Nice to see other teams in that division win. Honestly, Eagles can still make the playoffs, but Dallas, Washington, and New York are much stronger than last year.

This went from the easiest division to win to the toughest.

Colts and Pats tonight in NE.

Colts are at full strength with no real injuries and an improved defense(though they haven't been tested by a good offense yet). The Pats are as depleted by injuries as they've ever been, but Bruschi is back and he always makes good things happen.

Peyton Manning wants to win to get the monkey off his back that Belichick owns him, but considering the Pats are basically on a third string defense and have no offensive line at all, would it really be meaningful if he actually wins tonight?

I still think the Pats have a shot on veteran guile alone.

Well ****ing Corey Dillon just blew the game with a stupid redzone fumble...

They had the Colts where they wanted them, then that damn fumble turns it from 14-14 to 21-7...

That's not Manning's call he isn't the coach. It was sensible as it would have been a three touchdown lead

If the Pats would've gone down the field quickly, got a TD, onside kicked it, got another TD, and then repeated that scenario again, they would've been in the lead if the Colts just kicked it. Unlikely, but you never know what can happen, and Dungy's just playing it safe.

Also, like others have mentioned, it was Dungy's call, not Manning's.

Exactly. The Colts were trying to make it a 3 TD lead. There was no disgrace about it, I'm sure Belichick would have done the same thing. The Colts have come back from a 3 TD on MNF before so they know anything can happen. ACR's just ticked off about the Pats losing, he always does this when the Red Sox and Pats lose.

Good for Peyton and the Colts to finally get over the Pats. Now he has to finish the job and win the SB. Everything is in their favor this year so they better take advantage of it. I'm looking forward to their game against Pittsburgh in a few weeks.

ummm, teams that make the superbowl rarely even make the playoffs the next year. The Pats are one of the few recent exceptions, I believe the other one was the Rams after they beat the Titans.

Okay, let's count how Super Bowl Champions did for the last 10 years following their win.

Made Playoffs
2004 Patriots
2001 Ravens
2000 Rams
1998 Broncos
1997 Packers
1996 Cowboys
1995 49ers

Didn't Make Playoffs
2003 Bucs
2002 Patriots
1999 Broncos

I was really going back to the last time the Broncos won.

Broncos/Falcons(both missed)
Rams/Titans(both made)
Giants/Ravens(Ravens)
Rams/Pats(both missed)
Raiders/Bucs(both missed)
Pats/Panthers(Pats)
Pats/Eagles(remains to be seen)

So 4 of the last 12 teams to compete in the superbowl have missed the playoffs the following year, with both of the last competitors at .500 it could become 14. That is 1/4 teams in the last 6 years to compete in the playoffs following a superbowl appearance.

Kinda like both the Raiders and Bucs missing the play-offs after being in theirs.

Lots of people thought the Eagles and Pats were going to fall notably this year. Pats more-so than the Eagles due to the number of players lost.

really? because from what I remember, the Eagles were still the clear cut favorite in the NFC and by a pretty wide margine too.

as far as the Pats go, I know that more people probably did question them getting back to the Super Bowl because of the loss of some key players plus the loss of their offensive and defensive coordinators but I don't think alot of people expected them not to make the playoffs.

my point is, even if they weren't expected to make the Super Bowl, they still were considered very good teams going into this year, especially the Eagles.

If that is what you remember. then you must not have been paying very much attention this year.

Philadelphia is LAST in the NFC East. Heck, because they have yet to win a division game, they are a full 3 games out of even a WC spot. If you still think the Eagles are the clear-cut fav to win the NFC and by a wide margin, you are a homer to the Nth degree.

That you still consider the Eagles the better team is pretty laugable. See, while both teams are 4-4, at least the Pats are still 1st in their division (as opposed to LAST like the Eagles). Not only that, but they have yet to lose a division game so they are only 1-game out of WC contention even if they don't win their division.

They were considered very good teams going into the year, but they are not very good teams now. Plus, not everyone was sold on either team. Lots of people had the Eagles and Pats taking a tumble.

of course I didn't pay attention this year when I watched espn and the NFL network and almost everyone of the so-called experts picked the Eagles to win the division this year. there were mixed opinions on who would make it too the Super Bowl but the majority(that I watched) still liked the Eagles to make it back even though statistically, alot of the teams don't make it back.

I am not an Eagles fan, I am a Cowboys fan. and its obvious NOW that the Eagles won't win the NFC East but too say that you thought the Eagles would be in last place right now is a joke.

what are you talking about? I never said that I still consider the Eagles the better team, I was talking about before the season started. as for the Pats, who cares if they lead their division, it sucks. at this point, they're fate is really no better then the Eagles at this point because even if they make it too the playoffs, they will more then likely be on the road and be bounced by either the 1st or 2nd game.

They were considered very good teams going into the year, but they are not very good teams now. Plus, not everyone was sold on either team. Lots of people had the Eagles and Pats taking a tumble.
thank you, because that was all I was saying. before the season both teams were still expected to be the upper echelon of teams and be in the mix for the Championship game. if one of these two teams was struggling like this, you could understand it but the fact they are both 4-4 now is suprising...too me at least.

My mistake. For some reason, I thought you meant now rather than in the pre-season.

Pre-season, every one pegged them to cakewalk through the NFC East and easily be one of the top teams. Now, no friggen way.
