Coolburn 10-12-2003, 05:14 AM RAMPAGE WATCH (15-15-5-0)
They won their second game of the season. In the first 2 games, Shvidki and Bednar seem to be playing like they want back in the NHL. I gotta laugh when I see how many PIMs Grant McNeill had in yesterdays game (29). The player that seems to be playing unusually well has been Michel Periard. Nedorost, Taticek, Krajicek & Novak still haven't played in a game yet. I know we have someone thats in the San Antonio area so if they could provide their opinions that would be great. But looks like that team could be on their way to the Calder Cup if they can keep it up.

pb1300 10-12-2003, 05:51 AM McNeill flipped out and left the bench to go fight someone. Thats what Jiggs said on the radio yesterday.
TheTallontedTenth 10-12-2003, 06:01 AM Go rampage! this team should be able to win the cup.
PanthersRule96 10-12-2003, 06:10 AM As Rich said, Shvidki, Bednar, and Periard have been on fire. Weiss had 5 shots and an assist yesterday.
Shvidki had 2 assists in the first game and a goal in the second. Finally it looks after two that he's dominating the AHL like he did at 20. Bednar has always been a top scorer in the A so he doesn't surprise me. Rimer said that McNeil left his bench and fought and got an instegator, and then left the penalty box and fought. I hope he can play hockey too because we really son't need a total goon on our team. IMO the top 3 callups are Bednar, Shvidki and Weiss, but Weiss has to prove something first as he needs to start scoring goals. Any of you feel that Nilson is expendable? I don't think we should trade him as he works hard, but is not a fantastic offensive player by any means. I really think Hagman is going to have a breakout year and continue on the first line. Hagman plays a similar style to Nilson only with more energy. If V Bure plays well, then I don't think he'll be traded. Novoseltsev played alright last night and Horton played well. Hagman IMO will score around 20 this year and have about 25-30 assists.
PanthersRule96 10-12-2003, 06:13 AM BTW Shvidkis profile list him at 6-0, 195 on Rich's link. I'm pretty sure he's like 6-2 and 220. His size is underrated and people consider him small but I'd guarantee that he'll see some NHL time this year and will stick if the team feels he can produce so he won't risk waivers. All of the other GMs are probably like "Damn, I wish we picked him up."
Coolburn 10-12-2003, 06:23 AM BTW Shvidkis profile list him at 6-0, 195 on Rich's link. I'm pretty sure he's like 6-2 and 220. All of the other GMs are probably like "Damn, I wish we picked him up."Those numbers are definitely wrong. They listed Weiss as 5'11" 180 and he was something like 185 last yr plus added 10 lbs over summer. I agree that Shvidki is closer to 6-2 and probably around 210.
PanthersRule96 10-12-2003, 10:00 AM Weiss is probably around 190 now. It's amaizing, too amaizing that Cullen, a mid-late 20's year old, 27? put on 20 pounds of "muscle." Thats nearly impossible. Something smells suspicious as smaller guys don't bulk up like that in 2 months and add only pure muscle.
Any of you feel that Nilson is expendable? I don't think we should trade him as he works hard, but is not a fantastic offensive player by any means.
H*** no... He does alot stuff that creates offensive chances for us.. plays good defensivly and is a leader.. he's a unsung hero..

You're right Mogo, just like you were about Horton! :yo:
Acadmus 10-14-2003, 07:56 AM McNeill flipped out and left the bench to go fight someone. Thats what Jiggs said on the radio yesterday.
According to his coach, he actually left the bench on a legitimate line change, and the other guy dropped the gloves first. But who knows without seeing the replay tapes :dunno:
Hope he's cleared, 'cause he's facing a 10-game suspension if he isn't.
You're right Mogo, just like you were about Horton! :yo:
Atleast someone remembers how high I was on Horton long before even last season. Heimy.. Did you ever hear the story that I wrote Bryan Murray a e-mail about 5-7 years ago about Brian Rafalski a free agent back then. Murray never got back to me and NJ signed him like 2 years after that CHEAP!! :dunno:

No, I never heard that Mogo. But I give credit when credit's due. I also remember as far back as 5-6 years ago when you were screaming for more North Americans.
Horton (along with most of the rest of the Cats) didn't have a great outing last night, but you can see flashes of what he's capable of and what he'll develop into over time. He (and Stewart) will bring a whole new dimension to this club.

I read somewhere that he might get suspended for 10 games, but that the video shows the other player dropping the gloves first.

True I've been yelling for more NA for years... Because were too euro... and still are...
PantherboyHTR 10-14-2003, 10:15 AM Weiss had 5 shots and an assist yesterday.
Great to see Weiss is shooting the puck more this year. This is one thing he sucked at last year, just didn't seem confident enough in his shot.
Coolburn 10-17-2003, 03:01 AM And they're still undefeated after last nites game. Goren scored 2 goals one of which was a PP goal. Shvidki scored another goal himself which was assisted by Taticek in his first AHL game. But the thing that caught my attention in this game is Travis Scott faced 58 shots on net...58 and he only let in 2. And its not like the 'page weren't shooting because they had 29 SOG scoring 4 goals (Jardine had the other goal). McNeill played last nite so I dunno when his 2 game suspension starts.

Hey Heimy can we just sticky this thread so we can also track the progress of the soon-to-be Calder Cup champions :p:yo::bow:

58 shots holly crap, :handclap:
Thewbacca 10-17-2003, 10:42 AM They play Cincinnati again and then Utah again so they could be 6-0.
Thewbacca 10-18-2003, 05:51 PM 4-0! Scott with a shutout.
Coolburn 10-19-2003, 05:53 AM 4-0! Scott with a shutout. At least he didn't have to stop 50 shots this game...just 30. Jardine had 2 goals and Weiss scores his first as a Rampage on the PP. Shvidki gets another pt (assisted on Jardine's first). Krajicek played too so thats encouraging as well. I edited the title of the thread to include the new record and here's those stats for anyone interested:
http://pointstreak.com/framed/prostats/boxscore.html?gameid=44652
Coolburn 10-21-2003, 03:29 AM Not as great of a game as previous ones but they're still undefeated with a tie against Utah. The box score is below but there's also another thread about the game as well. The Rampage battled back from being down 1-0 all game and not shooting well to score the tieing goal early in the 3rd. Scott seems to have been a really good pickup, especially considering he was trying to fill Mason's shoes.
http://pointstreak.com/framed/prostats/boxscore.html?gameid=44663
Thewbacca 10-22-2003, 06:33 PM I guess this post is over. Rampage 4-1-1. Only good thing about the game is that Weiss scored and also the shots were not that bad. Weiss hopefully will keep up with the points and come out hot.
Coolburn 10-23-2003, 02:52 AM I think another important point was that they might've played a bit undisciplined and that might've cost them the game. They allowed Utah to have 14 powerplay chances and while they didn't score on those chances, that can take a lot out of you. Weiss seemed to be all over the place last nite in that game. :handclap:
Anyhow, we should still keep this thread for the progress of the team instead. Maybe Heimy can update it for us because I wasn't able to edit the main title even after changing the subject in the first post :dunno:
Here's the boxscore: http://www.sarampage.com/box_031022.shtml
Thewbacca 10-23-2003, 05:42 PM 4-2-1. Laseunesse gave up 7 goals on 30 shots! I guess we need more goaltending depth. Weiss had the only goal for the night and with 1 for 8 on the PP for tonight I don't think anyone as of yet deserves to get moved up. Although, maybe Weiss will get some time in the NHL and let Nedoros start off in the AHL.
Thewbacca 10-25-2003, 05:49 PM Weiss continues his goal scoring streak! He tied tonights game at 2-2 and then Kolnik scored the game winner in OT. What is that for Weiss? 3 game goal scoring streak?
Coolburn 10-26-2003, 04:08 AM Weiss continues his goal scoring streak! He tied tonights game at 2-2 and then Kolnik scored the game winner in OT. What is that for Weiss? 3 game goal scoring streak? No just a 2 game streak...so far ;) But it was Beaudion not Kolnik that got the game winner. I just gotta luv Weiss leading the 'Page in scoring...and with Cullen out 2 months, we'll probably see him in a panthers uni soon enough :handclap:
http://www.sarampage.com/box_031025.shtml
Coolburn 11-01-2003, 02:28 AM Another win (3-2) in the books. What I find impressive is they held AHL's leading scorer, Fedor Fedorov, to no points. Another good point is that they got to beat Alex Auld, former Panther prospect. Travis Scott has performed way above expectations and stopped another 31 shots (33 total by Manitoba). Shvidki got a point after going pointless for a few games. Weiss continues his point streak.

Clash* 11-01-2003, 06:45 AM Weiss continues his point streak.
Weiss has a point in all but two games so far, and here is a blip from today's Sun Sentinel...
General Manager Rick Dudley was asked Friday why he chose to recall Goren instead of Stephen Weiss, whom one NHL scout said Thursday is "way too good for the AHL."
Could Cullen eventually get traded and Weiss brought back-up?
Crossbar 11-01-2003, 07:00 AM I would like to see Weiss stay in the AHL for at least half a season so he continues to gain confidence in the offensive zone and keep the Rampage going strong. Why is Nedorost still not playing?? I thought they said he was "way ahead of schedule"??? I'm all for making sure he comes back 100% but I thought by now he would be.
"way too good for the AHL" ??
9 games, 4 goals, 3 assists, -4
That's not bad, but how is he too good for the AHL at this point in his career?
I'd also like to see him stay for half a season or longer.
Thewbacca 11-05-2003, 06:08 PM Another Win! Weiss with 2 goals, Kolnik and Beaudoin 3 assists and Scott is playing great stopping 40 of 41 shots. The Beaudoin-Weiss-Kolnik line is playing great.
Coolburn 11-06-2003, 02:37 AM Of note, Campbell scores his first goal in the AHL :handclap: (even if it was an empty netter). Shvidki & Krajicek got the assists on his goal so many of our upper talent prospects are producing. Beaudion is actually leading the team in pts now after 3 helpers last nite. But I think that proves that Weiss really is "too good for the AHL" as several scouts have said. I'm sure he'll get a call-up similar to how Ottawa handled Spezza last yr.

Coolburn 11-07-2003, 06:03 PM Gotta luv the fact that in Nedorost's first game in a Rampage uniform, he scores a goal on the PP. Unfortunately, San Antonio drops this game and it looked like Kolnik got his ass kicked outta the game (which looks like it led to the 2nd goal for Milwaukee). Looks like this team is going to miss Weiss just a tad.

milwaukee's radio announce team thought the Page were playin a dirty game for a bit, so take that into consideration with Kolnik. Heimy and I thought we were gonna hear a come back with a couple minutes left, only to be let down. The seamens' announce team seemed a bit overjoyed with the win.
PanthersRule96 11-09-2003, 05:15 PM San Antonio beat Utah 6-3 tonight. Beaudoin had 2g 2a and Nedorost had another goal. How about Beaudoin though.
Kolnik was 1 g 3a and Shvidki had 0 shots. I'm really dissapointed in him.

Thewbacca 11-09-2003, 05:43 PM Beaudoin would be a good callup for a left winger. San An is playing great but it would be nice to see Campbell, Tacitek, and Shvidki produce. As of yet the major line has been Beaudolin, Nedorost, and Kolnik (probable the best line in the AHL). Krajicek has been getting some assists and maybe it could turn into something. How long will Novak be out? Periard is playing great and if Novak comes back we could have 3 good PP QBs.

I like how Campbell played in his brief 2 game stint with the Cats. While Weiss has been called up, Nederost has filled that void at center for the Rampage. I wonder how long it will be before Nederost is ready to come up. I also wonder if Krajicek will get a chance to come up. I don't know much about Periard, but he is putting up good numbers. I have'nt heard anything about Novak lately, I hope he comes back soon. I saw him in training camp and I remeber he made a really nice goal on a drive to the net going top shelf after a nifty deke. He had a really good season with the Rampage last season as well.
Thewbacca 11-10-2003, 02:57 AM I think Nedorost could move to left wing or move Horton to right wing and let Nedorost center the 2nd line. I wonder if Dudley will move Huselius to the first line with Jokinen and Kozzy after the coaching change.

I wonder if Dudley will move Huselius to the first line with Jokinen and Kozzy after the coaching change.Nedorost has played some LW with Colorado last yr. I think Nedorost will get a full month of play in San Antonio before he gets a callup (kinda like Weiss). I think Huselius might get a shot on the top line and we may just see his production back to normal and hopefully above normal.
PanthersRule96 11-10-2003, 10:58 AM As I've written in several posts I'd like to see lines like the following keeping Huselius-Weiss-Bure together and keeping Bednar-Hagman together.
Nedorost-Jokinen-Kozlov
Huselius-Weiss-Bure
Hagman-Horton-Bednar/Novo/Samuelsson
Messier-Nilson-Hordichuk

Clash* 11-13-2003, 06:16 PM Page @ Grand Rapids Griffins 2-2 OT final (http://www.theahl.com/SlamScoreboard/ahl-frameset.html)
Goals from Goren and Green with two assists from Kolnik.
Coolburn 11-14-2003, 03:15 AM Those links are hard to get right at times but I figured I'd help out too. Kolnik seems to get a lot of his points on the PP but he hasn't been putting the puck in the net at all (1g so far??). Anyhow, here's the link to the boxscore directly:
http://pointstreak.com/framed/prostats/boxscore.html?gameid=44787
Thewbacca 11-15-2003, 03:19 PM Who is centering the 1st line now that Nedorost was sent? Hopefully, Kolnik will get a few assists to figure it out.
*Kolnik gets an assist and Beaud gets a goal 2-0 Rampage!
Coolburn 11-15-2003, 04:20 PM With Nedorost getting called up to the NHL, the Rampage called up Matt Dzieduszycki from ECHL Augusta. He had been playing quite well from what I can tell down in Augusta. Looks like he's getting a shot before some of the other centers we had in the ECHL like Kelman and Jacina.

Thewbacca 11-15-2003, 05:03 PM Scott another a shutout (2)! His GAA is going to be silly after this game. Does the NHL have a Vezina trophy?
Coolburn 11-15-2003, 06:46 PM Scott another a shutout (2)! His GAA is going to be silly after this game. Does the NHL have a Vezina trophy? As good as Travis has been, he'd be competing with guys like Ryan Miller (5-3-3, 2 SO, 1.25 GAA & .956 SV%) and Ilya Bryzgalov (7-4-1, 3 SO, 1.66 GAA, & .935 SV%). These guys are all younger and overall better. But yes the award is called the "Baz" Bastien Memorial Award as the AHL's outstanding goaltender,
Coolburn 11-21-2003, 02:32 AM Ends up as a 2-2 tie with Chicago who are currently in 1st in the West division (leading the Rampage by 2 pts but also with 2 more games played). Kolnik (finally) & Goren scored the goals.
http://www.sarampage.com/box_031120.shtml
Thewbacca 11-23-2003, 04:15 PM 4-5, San Antonio Win. Also, on the boxscore it seems that Patrick Nilson played. Beaud 4 assists in the game.
PanthersRule96 11-23-2003, 04:30 PM Of note, both Green and Beaudoin had 4 assists. Beaudoin seems to be wanting to earn a callup. IMO I think that even if not the best callup, they should bring up Beaudoin to show that if you work hard and produce, you will get the call, like Kolnik did. That would send a message to skilled players that need it (Shvidki, cough, cough). Also, Shvidki tied the game with a goal as the goalie was pulled for SA. Olsen had two goals and he is a huge sleeper pick like a power forward. Periard with the OT goal and Krajicek got an assist on Shvidki's goal so obviously he's being used in important situations. Rossiter had the other goal. Someone needs to tell Taticek to shoot the puck. Like Ales Hemsky in the Sun-Sentinel today, Taticek always thinks pass first and has only 7 shots in 14 games. Also, no goals and 3 assists. Fairly dissapointing but he may take a while to adjust.
Coolburn 11-24-2003, 02:09 AM 4-5, San Antonio Win. Also, on the boxscore it seems that Patrick Nilson played. Beaud 4 assists in the game. With both McNeill & Kolnik getting a call up to the NHL, the Rampage called up Nilson and another guy who I can't spell. Here's the article about it:

Also, no goals and 3 assists. Fairly dissapointing but he may take a while to adjust.I would think that FL would call up Beaudoin based on his size and physical play as well as his current ability to put up points. Because Olson is still young (just 22 yrs old) for a power forward type, he has time to grow into it as well. Taticek has always been a guy thats a pass first and is known for his playmaking ability. So long as he bangs the body as well, thats the most important thing because he's slated to be our 3rd line center. What surprises me most is how Campbell is playing lately, only 2 pts in the 13 games?? But I would really like to see how all these guys are playing rather than just reading them.
Here's the boxscore so everyone can see it themselves:
http://www.sarampage.com/box_031123.shtml
Thewbacca 11-24-2003, 02:31 AM I think last nights first line looked like this:
Olson-Green-Beaud
Periard-Rossiter
Suprised Goren wasn't playing on the 1st line but I guess Olson and Beaud can play either wing. Rossiter could turn into a great checker with his size being 6'3" 217 pounds. I always wan't another J-vo type of checker.
Coolburn 11-24-2003, 03:44 AM I think last nights first line looked like this:
Olson-Green-Beaud
Periard-Rossiter
Suprised Goren wasn't playing on the 1st line but I guess Olson and Beaud can play either wing. Rossiter could turn into a great checker with his size being 6'3" 217 pounds. I always wan't another J-vo type of checker.Umm, did you watch Rossiter when he was called up just recently?? He wasn't very good in his own end of the ice and any checks he did make had minimal impact. Like I've said already, Jeff Paul and Kent Huskins have the same size (6'4" 225 & 6'3" 215,respectively) with similar experience levels and should probably be higher up on the depth chart IMO. If we have to call up another d-man, I'd like to see Paul as he played a few games with Colorado last yr and he is willing to drop the gloves when necessary.
PanthersRule96 11-24-2003, 04:50 AM I saw the preseason game against Carolina when we blew em out like 8-3 or something. Paul is very slow probably because he's so big. He is definately not a player with too much value. Krajicek on the other hand is the totally opposite type of Dman. Now, with Mezei out, are we going to callup another forward or a dman. Forward I'd go with Beaudoin then Shvidki and Defense, I'd go with Krajicek and then Huskins. Periard may warrant a look-see too. Even with VanRyn producing, we need a power play QB other than Bure and Bouwmeester is not ready according to his play. Krajicek, although he has not scored, has 22 shots for San Antonio and would be our best skater if called up, yes, even better than JBO. Currently with Mezei injured we have 7 dmen, so we will probably have to callup an extra forward, only I hope they give Novo another chance.
m2k2p 11-24-2003, 10:49 AM Even though Campbell has'nt been putting up much numbers on the farm, I really liked how he played during his short stint with the Cats earlier this year.
Coolburn 11-29-2003, 05:12 AM Rampage finally drop a game to Milwaukee 5-4. Shvidki, Goren, Beaudoin & Rossiter scored the goals and Goren added another 2 assists. Looks like the Admirals converted on 2 turnovers because they had 2 unassisted goals. They did come back from being down by 2 in the 3rd period and looks like Campbell got things going with a fight early on in the period.

PanthersRule96 11-29-2003, 05:52 PM At least they made it interesting from 4-2, to 4-3 with Green's goal from Shvidki. Looks like the final is 5-3 with Campbell getting 3 assists. Shvidki has one assist. Goren has 1 g 1 a as does Olsen. Shvidki IMO is the next callup. I want Shvidki called up to play with Joki and Kozzie.
That way, we'd have
Shvidki-Jokinen-Kozzie
Huselius-Weiss-Bure
Kolnik-Nedorost-Hagman
Nilson-Horton-Messier
Kolnik is earning a spot in the lineup and should stay at the expense of Samuelsson. Weiss will replace Cullen.
when everyone is healthy of course. Then, we keep Horts in the press for a couple games although he was great at MTL tonight.
PLayers that IMO will be dealt at first chance
Nilson
Novoseltsev
Cullen
Bednar

I just think Nilson don't have enough talent to play on the top 2 lines he might be used god as a 3rd liner but our lines are pretty much set.

Okay, I guess I have to say this. Last year I was the biggest Shvidki basher in town. The guy just didn't want to be here. However, his attitude has improved, and so has his play. It wouldn't surprise me if he gets last year's wish, soon.
Taticek hadn't caught my attention until the last few games, we'll see what happens with him.
Green's doing really well and deserves a callup.
I'm glad Grant's coming back, it's been dull without him. :rolly:

minor leagues equal minor money. Remember they take buses and not planes in the minors. If you look at the schedule, San Antonio also doesn't play every AHL in a year. This is another reason why you see back to back games against the same team, in the same city, but with one or two days in between games.
One of those goals was crap! But, they do need to step it up in the second. I'd hate to be this ref at tonight's rematch. From mysanantonio.com:

Questionable decision by ref hurts Rampage

Why didn't referee Mark Hulshof ask the goal judge?
He asked his linesmen — Chris Libett and Stacy Jackson — who weren't in position to make a call, yet Jackson guessed. He asked the off-ice officials sitting in a booth at center ice 100 feet away from the play.
But Hulshof never asked the goal judge, sitting less than 10 feet from the net and whose sole responsibility is to watch for the puck to cross the goal line, then turn on a light to let everyone know.
As a result of the lack of questioning by Hulshof, a puck that video replays showed never crossed the line was ruled good and proved to be the winner as Chicago held off the Rampage 4-3 Friday night at the SBC Center.
Goals cannot be overturned by video replays in the American Hockey League.
The largest announced crowd of the year — 7,066 — saw the Wolves' Brendan Yarema get credit for the mystery goal, which sent San Antonio to its third consecutive loss.
Hulshof was not available for comment after the game, but Rampage coach Scott Allen was, pacing his office while leafing through the rule book and counting the mistakes.
"No comment," an upset Allen said of the controversial game-winning tally. "The bottom line is that we didn't get the job done."
Allen ended the postgame questions by turning away so that he didn't earn a call from the AHL office this morning.
Tommi Santala, Zdenek Blatny and Luke Sellars also scored for Chicago. Denis Shvidki, Gregory Campbell and Lee Goren scored for San Antonio.
The teams meet again tonight, with Hulshof scheduled to call the game.
The winning play developed to Scott's left, with Rampage defenseman Grant McNeill battling with a Chicago player, right in front of Hulshof. As McNeill took the Wolves' player to the ice, Hulshof put his hand up for a penalty call, as Scott dove across the crease to stop the puck.
When the goal was put up on the scoreboard, Scott came racing out of the net toward Hulshof.
"Right there, that's what proved it to me," Allen said.

Shvidki with 17 points in 22 games after starting real slow. The only thing if Huselius was shipped is that if Shvidki replaces him. Give Shvidki a shot and he'll score 20+ in the NHL as he will be better than a point per game player this year in the A.

Jeff Shafer 12-18-2003, 05:33 AM San Antonio Rampage General Manager Bobby Jay announced today that they have signed defenseman Daryl Andrews to an AHL contract. At the same time the Rampage announced that team captain Lee Goren will miss the next six weeks after undergoing successful wrist surgery Tuesday afternoon.
Andrews, 26, has played in 23 games with the Rampage this season tallying three assists and 20 PIM. Prior to joining the Rampage, Andrews spent the past four seasons with Albany Riverats of the AHL recording 8-26-34 and 170 PIM. For his career, the Campbell River, British Columbia native has played in 256 AHL games posting 8-29-37 and 190 PIM.
“Daryl has played at a very consistent level all season long,” said Jay. “He’s been a reliable defenseman every time he has taken the ice for us. He’s definitely earned this contract.”
Goren, 25, is in his first year with the Rampage. Prior to his wrist injury, the right winger appeared in 19 games tallying 9-8-17 and 23 PIM. His nine goals currently are tied for the team lead and his 17 points rank tied for third on the Rampage roster. Before making the move to San Antonio, the Winnipeg, Manitoba native spent three seasons with the Providence Bruins of the AHL recording 58-81-139 and 299 PIM. Goren has also played in 35 NHL games, all with the Boston Bruins, collecting four goals and an assist.

Thewbacca 12-18-2003, 04:51 PM Rampage have been stuck bent over after every game so far this month and the later of November. What is the probable cause of this? They sure could use some of those 03 drafties. I know Mayers and many others won't hit the 20 mark before the start of next years season. Are there any that could possible make the recomendations? Tuma and Lojek would be nice additions with the majority of the no names on the Rampage roster this season.
Clash* 12-18-2003, 05:08 PM What more than anything does our team lack? Besides a solid young netminder to eventually back-up Luongo, its solid defensive prospects. Hell, at the end of last season, they had Van Ryn, Krajicek, and Mezei. Novak is out injured, as is Kudroc (who hasn't done jack to show for his signing). Right now, they have a few guys who are older and spent a majority of last season at the CHL or ECHL level, or are cast offs from other franchises. Another thing I've read is that they're gettin slammed by the refs just about as bad as the Panthers are. Go figure.

On the offensive side of things, I'd like to see Sprukts, Globke, Kreps & possibly Hecimovic (if he meets those age/playing requirements) next yr. He is going to be out for 3 more months if everything goes good.3-6 more weeks in the cast thingy he has on.Sounds like he injured that ankle in the playoffs last yr and then re-injured it in training camp with the Panthers. Like I said once before, it sounded like a situation Mezei was in last yr with his ankle. Hopefully Novak heals well and gets back on track.

Interesting to note that we're looking at signing a former college goalie to a 2-way contract as well...seems like some of the goaltending prospect depth is trying to be addressed:
Drulia searches for goalie despite temporary backup
Web posted Tuesday, December 23, 2003
By Rob Mueller | Staff Writer
Florida Panthers goaltending prospect Simon Lajeunesse will join the Augusta Lynx this week, and coach Stan Drulia plans to start him Friday and Saturday on the road against Columbia and Charlotte.
As for Sunday's home game against Louisiana and beyond, Drulia isn't sure who will be the backup in net to veteran Jason Saal.
Lajeunesse will be temporarily assigned to Augusta later this week from San Antonio of the American Hockey League, but is scheduled to head back to the AHL club Sunday.
That leaves Drulia scrambling to find another goalie. The Lynx cleared a roster spot for Lajeunesse by releasing emergency backup goalie Nick Berti on Monday.
Drulia said he is negotiating with a free-agent goaltending prospect who would be "a real nice addition to our team." Drulia wouldn't disclose the goalie's name, but said he was "an excellent college goalie" who is also in negotiations with the Panthers on a two-way NHL-AHL contract.
Drulia also must prepare for the possibility that Boston Bruins goalie prospect Peter Hamerlik, who was recalled to AHL Providence last week, might not return.
"We're trying to sign a free-agent goaltender here in the next couple of days, but I don't know for sure if it's going to happen," Drulia said. "There's also the possibility of bringing in a goalie from Macon (of the WHA2)," presumably Andy Kollar, who was released by the Lynx at the end of training camp.
PanthersRule96 12-24-2003, 06:11 PM The page got some new third jerseys. They're red and look pretty good. Check them out on the Page website. They're aren't any good pics of them but you can see the one on the front with T Scott.
Clash* 12-24-2003, 06:53 PM Those were Christmas jerseys and were auctioned off the other nite after the last game. They're not permanent third jerseys, as I'm sure the bull won't be wearin a Santa hat in the middle of March.
As for the article, sounds like Drulia might go back to his coachin roots and grab a back-up from his old WHA2/ACHL huntin grounds. I wonder who the college goalie is tho? The guy who backed-up for Vancouver for a game, after Hedberg or Cloutier (don't remember which it was) signed an amateur contract for the nite? I got some friends who are close friends with him.
Just to show how much faith I have in Lajeunesse, we bought his jersey at that auction. He's had some setbacks, emotionally, in my opinion, that may have eroded his confidence. I could be wrong, but I think he intended to stay with the Sens, and it may have thrown him when it didn't work out. Just a hunch. He took over for Lalime once, and stopped all 9 shots. After talking to him a few times, he seems to have his head on straight and is very centered. I have friends in Quebec, and they see him at various camps during the summer, working hard. I predict things are going to change for the better.

His confidence level was waning so they sent him down to Augusta to play some (lost his first but won the second game) and now that he's back seems to be playing better from most accounts. Only thing I noticed was that Cinncinati was up by 2 and San Antonio came back to tie the game and then win it in OT. I'm glad to see Olson playing better too as some have said he's soft at times and that sounds too much like the Kozlov of old. Kudroc played in his 2nd game but only accounted for 4 PIM (a holding & a roughing) but ended the nite a +1.

It'd be pretty amazing if it was Shvidki, cause they haven't been linemayes all season. In fact, I believe Kolnik and Beaudoin were linemates before Juraj's call-up.

Taticek scored the goal from Krajicek & newcomer Mark Smith (tryout player/fill-in). Nedorost again did not play according to the boxscore so I'm not sure if he's injured or what (but I'm gonna try to find out). Also, Lajeunesse started the game but was injured and it appeared, by most accounts, to be a groin tear (or possibly a hip flexor) and he was stretchered off the ice. Sounds like Simon is probably down for a little while too. Its a shame too because he's been playing much better lately. Seems about the time that Clint Malarchuk went down to San Antonio to work with the guys there that he started to really improve. Lastly, there was mention that Goren might've been injured slightly as well but didn't sound too serious and probably just a day-to-day thing.

Coolburn 01-18-2004, 09:06 AM Yeah from what I read Nedorost reinjured his shoulder when he went body-to-body with an opposing player. Hopefully his shoulder heals back up and doesn't cause him more trouble. BTW, I believe that was Krajicek's first AHL goal.
http://www.sarampage.com/box_040115.shtmlFor some reason the new version of the boards HF is using makes it difficult to post but I'll keep trying (the quick reply stuff doesn't work and when I try to make a brand new reply it won't post). Anyhow, the Rampage played in 3 straight games...the last 2 have been against the Houston Aeros and played pretty well. Friday, they won 6-3 and yesterday tied 1-1. Beaudoin scored 3 goals in those 2 games. The team is also having the same problem as FL...giving up entirely too many shots. They've given up 40+ shots in both games. Anyhow, boxscores are below:

Oh on a separate note, the injury to Lajeunesse is supposedly not as bad as originally thought but he still will be out for 2 months at least. He was really coming on strong lately too getting a few more starts in the month (1-1-1 with a 2.81 GAA and .910 save percentage).
Coolburn 01-24-2004, 08:18 AM Well Rampage got shut out last nite 5-0. Its not too surprising since we called up both Krajicek & Kudroc and McNeill went down with a broken jaw in the previous game. The FL organization is really hurting all over the place. There's a rumor about Brent Cullaton signing a contract to play for San Antonio soon. I will mention it but don't believe it for one minute...there is also a stipulation requested by Cullaton that he receive a one game skate at the NHL level. I highly doubt Dudley would agree to that stipulation, especially a 30 yr old career minor leaguer. I think he could be an excellent leader for San Antonio and should be signed for the remainder of the season. But no way would I (or Dudley) guarantee ANY prospect a one game NHL skate just to sign him to a minor league deal.

PanthersRule96 01-26-2004, 02:42 AM 2-1 loss on SAT and a 5-3 loss on SUN.
They really miss Beaudoin evidently and Krajicek. They had a really potent team but now they have no one especially with Nedorost out. How long is he out for?
Shvidki with an assist on Sat and a pp goal on SUN. Green had the goal on SAT and Goren, and Campbell I believe had the other two. Taticek had one assist (he sucks). Shvidki is the only consistent point producer along with Green down there right now. We should send down Beaudoin and call up Campbell or Taticek as to not hurt SA so bad especially when we seldom use Beaudoin.
Krajicek IMO has earned a spot.
In order
Bouwmeester
VanRyn
Mezei
Trnka
Krajicek
Odelein
Biron
Kudroc
McNeil

Flames Draft Watcher 02-03-2004, 05:33 PM Just heard that the Flames first rounder from 2000, goalie Brent Krahn has been leant to San Antonio. He's had good numbers in the ECHL and AHL this season. I would appreciate any reports on him when he plays. Presumably he'll back up Travis Scott?
Clash* 02-03-2004, 05:38 PM Could this be a try out of sorts with Kippy in town for Calgary now? Lajuenesse doesn't seem equiped to be a future NHL back-up, and with Scott havin been overplayed recently in SA Krahn should get a decent amount of playing time.
PantherboyHTR 02-03-2004, 06:21 PM If Krahn could come relativley cheap, for a pick or so, I would not mind at all in trading for him.
Crossbar 04-04-2004, 12:52 AM Wow I thought the Rampage were completely out of the playoff picture but is it possible they could actually still make it in????? If so I think we should send down any and all of our best prospects who are still eligible and currently on the NHL roster to play down there to help them at least win the Calder Cup.

If so I think we should send down any and all of our best prospects who are still eligible and currently on the NHL roster to play down there to help them at least win the Calder Cup. :devil:The only problem with the idea is that: "Only those players listed on the Clear Day roster are eligible to compete in the remaining four weeks of the AHL regular season and in the Calder Cup playoffs, unless emergency conditions arise as a result of recall, injury or suspension. The Rampage may also add signed junior players or players on amateur tryout contracts, only after their respective junior or college seasons are complete." The exception to this is the 2 players on our roster that are also on the Clear Day roster: Piros & Nedorost. But we could sign some of our junior and/or college prospects and send them...possibly Hecimovic would be valuable in the playoffs (this was also his 4th junior yr, generally the point where a prospect moves up to the pro level).

Blah, you would think somewhere someone would benefit with having an entire team of young (but talented) players in an organization. :joker: For our NHL club it was too much inexperience to play a regular shift and now for our minor league club they aren't eligible to play, super! :thumbu: :banghead:
