Siarhai is known as Sergei Kolosov now. I've seen Sergei three times this season following the USHL. Last time I saw him he was paired with David Strathman, who I think is one of the best two-way defensemen in the USHL. Sergei appears to be slowly adjusting to the North American game. He sticks out because he's big and shows flashes of his powerful skating stride, but he's out of position from time to time and doesn't play as physical as he can, and he CAN lay out some huge hits. Des Moines' Donnie Hallmark leveled Kolosov last time I saw him play, but Hallmark is probably the best hitter in the USHL, especially open-ice. I would assume Sergei's communication with his partners will improve as he learns more and more English.

To me, Sergei needs to develop in North America. He has the talent to move up from a season or two of USHL hockey, but he may require a season of ECHL hockey before he plays in Grand Rapids.

Overall, Sergei is not one of the best defenseman in the USHL. He's not the best defenseman on Cedar Rapids (that's Strathman, in my opinion). But Sergei does show glimpses of his talent.

I would say Sergei's success will depend on the Red Wings' development of him. The Wings apparently think highly enough of Cedar Rapids to develop him, because they directed Sergei to the Roughriders.
