The Pats are in trouble in KC. They have no secondary at all and they've got Tony Gonzalez and crew flying down there. They're also not dragging Johnson down until like the 3rd or 4th hit.

We're only down 7 and driving down the field, so we'll see how this goes.

Their offense is unbelievable. Their defense has been good but helped out by two overthrows that led to tips and INTs, setting up drives for the Chiefs.

Rich Gannon just had a good quote after it started raining.

You're Tom Brady standing on the sidelines thinking 'what else can go wrong?', and now you come out in the 4th quarter and have to deal with wet balls!

After the Jags intercepted Warner before, the Jags turned the ball over on posession throwing foru incomplete passes. This was at the 32 of Arizona.

Why on earth would you go for it on 4th and 10? Shouldn't you just kick the field goal?

At least they got the ball back. Too bad Leftwich is injured though. :help:

The Vikes win again and are still trying to catch the Bears.

Amazingly so.

The defense has finally gelled into a quality unit. While they still sit low statistically, the last month or so they have really come on. Provided the coaches stay out of the players way.

That said, the offense has sucked horribly. If it wasn't for the Defense creating turnovers and the returners giving them fantastic field position, they wouldn't do jack. Not that the offense was doing great while Dante was there, but now it is just terrible now. The lone saving grace of that offense is that the coaches are FINALLY showing some committment to the running game.

I already wrote this season off for the Vikes. Even if they sneak into the play-offs, they will be a tune-up opponent that will bow out in the 1st round.

Next year, the Vikes are on the verge of great things. Get them a half decent coaching staff and they are a Super Bowl caliber team. Only FAs worth noting are Brian Williams, Corey Chavous and Edinger. Chavous has looked very bad this year at SS (seems more like a natural FS) while Williams might be playing his way into the SS position himself.

Because although the Bears are a pile of crap the rest of their division is a bigger pile of crap.

Don't be so certain. As pathetic as it sounds, Vikes are only 2 games back and are have an easy schedule ahead:
at Detroit (I don't think the Lions have beaten the Vikes in the post-Barry era)
St. Louis (Rams kick the Vikes butt routinely, but this is bizarro Vikes: good defense)
Pittsburgh (likely loss)
at Baltimore
Host Bears.

Realistically, Vikes can go 2-2 before hosting the Bears.

Bears have:
Green Bay
at Pittsburgh
Atlanta
at Green Bay
at Minnesota

That is a tough line-up. Sweeping Green Bay is never easy and the Falcons/Steelers game looks like losses. A 1-3 finish is quite possible.

That makes the final game at the Metrodome, winner takes the division.

Bears pile of crap isn't really piled any higher than the other piles of crap.

Isn't it strange how after Culpepper got hurt, the Vikes have been playing better? Although, if the Vikes keep it up, you guys may be stuck with Tice again next year. The Lions-Vikes game will be ugly, I don't see how the defense can any faith left in the offense, especially after the lost few losses.

The Vikes and Bears are lucky that they play the Lions twice a year and the Pack have been decimated by injuries.

A lot more has changed beyond Johnson in for Culpepper:
-Tice ditched the 3-4. After Udeze got hurt, rather than play Erasmus James, he switch to a 3-4 which BOMBED horrifically.
-Burleson returned. He was hurt to start the year.
-Team threw to Williamson
-Team committed to the run. According to KFAN (I didn't look it up myself) before today's game, the Vikes already ran more for Brad than they did for Culpepper in twice as many games.
-Team played James. He has been a constant pass-rushing presence.
-Robinson started to return kicks

Johnson for Culpepper makes for a nice sound byte, but that change made the team worse. The other changes are what sparked the turn-around. If Culpepper was in, we might have an offense that was actually contributing to these wins.

I caught just enough of the Bengals game today to remind me why I hadn't bothered to watch the NFL in years ... Chad Johnson scores, puts the ball on the ground, grabs the corner marker, and pretends to "putt out" the ball with it ...

What douchebaggery. I'm not a big hockey fight fan, but I took comfort in the thought that that sort of "look at me!!" stunt in hockey would have gotten him his *** beat 6 times before he made it back to his bench.

Ouch.

And they still found a way to pull off a huge win, thanks to the best player in the league. L.T. is a god  The Chargers can realistically win their next two at home against Oakland and Miami before having a big showdown against the Colts. It's going to be tough to get in the playoffs in the tough AFC, but if the Chargers get it, watch out.......

Chargers maybe caught a (no pun intended) break with Leftwich's injury, although a lot of respected pundits think David Garrard is a future starter.

Got a bit lucky yesterday, Casey Rabach took an ill-timed holding penalty on Jamal Williams, which pushed the Redskins back 10 yards......essentially putting John Hall out of FG range. Brees didn't have his best game, but credit the Redskins' D more than anything.

Although one downside about beating the Redskins is that the 'Skins first round pick belongs to Denver next year. Leave it up to Dan Snyder to trade a future #1 to draft his 3rd string QB for the next year.

Leftwich with a broken ankle.

Oh well, at least Garrard can fill in, he's decent enough to lead the offence for a couple of games, just like last year. The only thing he has over Leftwich is his mobility, and the way he can run for a first down.

I'm dreading the match against Indy now, though.

I don't know. Garrard played well last year and in the game against the Cardinals. Lucky for the Jags, the tough part is over (one game vs. Indy, Denver, Jet when they were healthy, Pittsburgh, and Cincy). If the Jags can go 3-2 the rest of the way, they should make the playoffs at 11-5, provided teams like the Chiefs and Chargers fall (both have difficult schedules).

Chargers have a couple of 'easy' games coming up, hosting Oakland and Miami. They then finish off the season @Indy, @KC, and Denver. Probably will have to pull off four of the five to get in.

KC: Denver, @Dallas, @NY Giants, SD, and Cincy.

Cincy: @Pit, Cle, @Det, Buf, @KC

Pit: @Indy, Cincy, Chicago, @Min, @Cle, Det

From a Chargers perspective, it's good that one of Cincy/Pittsburgh is guarenteed to lose next week.......personal preference being the Steelers losing.

God forbid someone shows a bit of personality and spark on the athletic field. And that heathen also has the nerve to hold interesting interviews not laden with cliche phrases. Please, this type of entertainment is part of the reason why the NFL will continue to outdraw other professional sports. Yes, there certainly is a line to be drawn when it comes to personal celebrations but professional sports are businesses, and more specifically entertainment businesses. What Chad Johnson does is entertain, and that is why the Bengals pay his salary and we buy tickets, because he entertains us

Man do I wish the Chargers had any one of those 4 games back that they blew this season. The way they are playing, they should be 9-4 going into that Indy game. They do likely have to win 4 of 5 to get in, and even that not even a given. From the early looks of it, the Colts seem like they are going to be able to handle the Steelers, so that helps. As tough as the Chargers schedule has been, the Chiefs have it really tough these last 5 games. My guess is it comes down to the Chargers and Steelers for the last playoff spot. Even with Garrard at QB, the Jags would have to mess up pretty bad to miss the playoffs now......Regardless, a really good team is going to end up missing the playoffs....

I thought the Colts would win tonight, but I didn't think they'd be as physical as the Steelers. They completely shut down the Steelers running game and James was the first one in 20+ games to gain 100+ yards on the Steelers defense. I know Dwight Freeney has done this before, but he really stood out again tonight. He's so fast off the edge and can bullrush lineman like it's a running back blocking him. Ridiculous how good that guy is.

Oh yeah forgot to mention one thing yesterday: Why in the hell did the 49ers sign Jose freaking Cortez to be in for Nedney this week?! They could have picked some bum off the street and I would have felt more comfortable at kicker. Cortez sucks and it boggles my mind how this guy keeps finding jobs. As you can tell I don't like Jose Cortez.
