I got both of them on my fantasy team and I dont need them on the bench The Flying Pigdog 10-13-2003, 01:33 PM Why? I got both of them on my fantasy team and I dont need them on the bench Heh, same thing over here. Dr GLU 10-13-2003, 01:38 PM Why? If you did watch the game, you'd know. Both of them were pretty lazy out there today and made key blunders that ended up putting the Stars in that 4-1 hole. Meanwhile, other players were playing their butts off, like Barnes, Boucher, Robidas, Morrow, Arnott (amazingly enough), and Guerin. I don't care who you are, if you're playing lazy, you shouldn't be on the ice. They deserved to be benched. bgumble184 10-13-2003, 01:39 PM If you did watch the game, you'd know. Thanks for telling me though Dr GLU 10-13-2003, 01:52 PM I was at school so I only saw the last five minutes so I wanted to know why. Thanks for telling me though No problem. I just realized that what I said probably sounded a little harsh and condescending, so I'd like to apologize for that. Sometimes, I get a little carried away. imyourhuckleberry 10-13-2003, 02:08 PM What do you guys think of Stu Barnes? I saw him playing today and made me miss him. He always came to play with the sabres just like I saw him do today for the stars. Dallasman 10-13-2003, 03:42 PM What do you guys think of Stu Barnes? I saw him playing today and made me miss him. He always came to play with the sabres just like I saw him do today for the stars. Barnes was Mr. Everything for you guys and I think he'll be the same way with us as well. The guy does it all no matter what situation he is thrown into. He should have a solid year with the Stars. As for Modano and Zubov, shame on them for being lazy and showing no pep during the game. Those are your two best players and for them to be playing that way hurts the team immensely. I have both of them on a fantasy team as well so it kinda hurts they were benched as well. .Oh well. I'm a Stars fan first so if thats what they needed, then thats what they should get. morrow1005 10-13-2003, 03:50 PM What do you guys think of Stu Barnes? I saw him playing today and made me miss him. He always came to play with the sabres just like I saw him do today for the stars. Ive loved Stu Barnes since then 99 series. When I got home and my dad told me we traded for Stu I was happy. I knew it was a good trade but hes producing more than I thought he would. A bunch of Stars fans were pretty upset (for a lack of a better word) saying "What do we need him for ?". I had to sell my dad on the trade telling him just wait, this was a good trade. Dr GLU 10-13-2003, 03:50 PM Having Stu Barnes is like having a second Lehtinen. SwisshockeyAcademy 10-13-2003, 09:14 PM benching the Captain is always one of things that go either way. The captain accepts it and vows to play better. The other side is he brings a mutiny on when times get really tough. As a coach you need your captain. I'm not saying he is unbenchable but you had better know what the hell you are doing. Spiffy 10-14-2003, 04:03 AM How did the four finns play in this game? Rabid Ranger 10-14-2003, 04:10 AM I watched the game, and I didn't think Modano, or Zubov for that matter were all that bad. Interesting, especially since Modano's work ethic is hardly every called into question. Tippett might have been too quick to pull the trigger IMO. Wyvern 10-14-2003, 04:22 AM What do you guys think of Stu Barnes? I saw him playing today and made me miss him. He always came to play with the sabres just like I saw him do today for the stars. I am in love with Barnes. He is an outstanding player that gives it his all, every time he is on the ice. Thats what gets my feathers all ruffled when I see fellow Stars fans penciling him in on the 4th line, makes me glad Tip did not see it that way :) Wyvern 10-14-2003, 04:24 AM How did the four finns play in this game? Lehtinen did not play, out with back spasms. Numinen did fairly well, but was a bit lacking at times. Kapanen and Miettinen tried hard, but did not do very well at all (IMO). They kept turning the puck over. Tip started the game with Kapanen and Miettinen against Buffalo's top line. But they never seemed to get into the game completely. The Flying Pigdog 10-14-2003, 11:44 AM Personally, I think it was an insult to Modano to be benched. The guy is one of the best all-around players in the league and so he has one bad game and gets sat on the bench? That's like Dave Lewis benching Steve Yzerman. Or Tony Granato benching Joe Sakic. It just wouldn't be right. Though I must hand it to Modano for taking the benching in stride. He admitted he played bad, said he deserved the benching and just moved on. Hopefully he'll be fired up for the next game. My $0.02. SwisshockeyAcademy 10-14-2003, 09:33 PM Credit to Modano and credit to Tippett. That is how professionals respond. Top players are not unbenchable but they can make life miserable on a coach if they pout. Wyvern 10-15-2003, 04:00 AM Personally, I think it was an insult to Modano to be benched. Modano seemed to be taking the afternoon off. I think it is interesting to note that Dallas almost always seems lazy in afternoon starts........ Enoch 10-15-2003, 05:05 PM how the crap did he miss that one timer :dunno: hockeyhomer99 10-19-2003, 04:31 AM Ive loved Stu Barnes since then 99 series. That was a pretty astute call for a 16yr old beavis headed son  , but son ... great call... :teach: :teach: Stu is definitely worth a spot anywhere and I am glad it is here.. great call son   ... The old man Class21 10-19-2003, 11:46 PM Okay I know this will be blasphemy to all Stars fans (which i am one by the way) but for the most part Modano has always been lazy..He has prob the most talent in all of hockey right now (at least close to it) He is one of the fastest players in the league but he only skates when he wants to...Yes he is great but I think he has the skills to challenge for the Art Ross, and prob the Richard trophy as well. He seems to not take hockey very seriously (given if i were him i wouldnt either) I just do not believe he is the right captain for this or any team...I understand not all leaders have to be outspoken but if i had to pick a guy lead by his play only there are several guys on this team who deserve it much more. I am not saying Modano should be traded or anything rediculous like that just It has been said about Arnott and many others too but what would happen if he ever really i mean really tried to play his heart out... | ||
