still the same problems

Ok, the defense tonight was much better. The defensemen played much better and didn't get caught pinching or out of position and the fowards came back and helped out.

However the same two problems this team has had for 2-3 years hurt them again tonight. 1) STUPID PENALITIES. If Belak isn't benched for the next game Quinn needs to have his head examned. I'm thinking trading him (like Quinn hinted at) might be the best idea, they have Perrott who can fill his role. And WTF was with Sundin taking that STUPID, MINDLESS, NEEDLESS penality that cost the Leafs the win? Thats not leading by example. 2) When with the Leafs learn that to score you need to SHOT THE PUCK. The only guy shooting the puck on the PP was Jackman. We all know they can pass the puck really nice, how about taking a shot or two.

The type of players that the Leafs have the penalties are to be expected......it's got a few players that have finess but there's alot of guys that love to play tough too and when that happens you'll get the penalties sooner or later...........

Leafs are still lacking a stud defenceman that came make the difference..........we've been saying this for a long time now but the Leafs don't seem to think it's important to have a guy back there like we use to have in Borje Salming......this is why they won;t win the Cup this season.

nothing.

other than kubina 2nd hand rumors

you'd think a schneider deal is reachable

do you think they'd trade nolan?

Owen Nolan?.........is that what they're talking about?......we mortgaged alot of our future to pick him up........If Leafs are talking to Detroit I'd rather they get Chelios over Schneider.

Why would Detroit trade Schneider? They're a little thin on D as it is, Chelios is a geezer and Fischer could go down at any moment.

The guy to get would have been Sydor from Dallas or Numminen from Phoenix seeing as how they went relatively cheaply.

that would have been nice
hell, they should have gotten both

Sydor's in Columbus and I wouldn't be surprised if he is made available again towards the trade deadline. He'd fit in well with the Leafs.

When Ferguson let Green go in the waiver draft he said it was part of a bigger plan, I would assume that means hes already had at least some talks to someone about a deal, which is why they kept who they did. A trade for a d-man will happen at some point this season, unless either a) McCabe and/or Kaberle improve quite a bit and become #1 and #2 or b) the Leafs really tank badly, in which case the team will probably be blown up.

The Leafs won't trade Nolan because of his salary, no team will take that on.

right..................

They trade Schneider or Chelios for a forward, and they're not looking as hot.
They'd be like St. Louis, dominant top pairing or two, brutal bottom pairing.

Yes, I know Sydor is in Columbus. I'd LOVE to see him here. Think about what Phoenix got for Numminen in that package - Mike Sillinger. Why couldn't we have just sent them Travis Green if that's all it took, or did Numminen really want to go to Dallas?
