Rattrick 10-14-2003, 11:04 AM worest? What the heck is that?
TheTallontedTenth 10-14-2003, 11:05 AM Cullen has been dissapoiting to say the least, and will probably end up losing his job to nedorost, hopefully we can deal him and get a 3rd, 4th,5th round pick and/or second or third tier prospect.
i havent seen too much of trnka this year so i dont know, and the jury is still out IMO on novoselstev

obviouly he meant Worst, there's no reason to pick on someone's spelling just for the sake of it. it's not like you couldnt understand the meaning behind it. he made a typo, big deal, answer the question instead trying to poke fun at him.
sting_fan 10-14-2003, 11:12 AM Worst is such a tough word.
The move list should be:
1. Bure
2. Cullen
3. Trnka
4. Novoseltsev
The move order I hope to see:
1. Novoseltsev
2. Cullen
3. Trnka
4. Bure

Coolburn 10-14-2003, 01:52 PM IMO, Trnka played pretty well last nite in that game (minus a few lapses, but not worse than Biron). Cullen has been invisible so far and he's my guess at this point to be moved. Novo has only had one game and got the usual treatment from Keenan by getting benched quickly. He's probably equal to Cullen on movement potential. I'd hang on to Bure at this point as he wouldn't get you anything of any value.

hanging on to bure would be wise for multiple reasons. first off, even if you COULD get a team to deal something for him, it would suck, as you mentioned. second, in said deal you would more than likely have to eat probably half his salary.
bure NEVER had injury problems before he got here, theres no reason to think he wont get healthy again. he doesnt have pavel's explosive ability, but...knock on wood...he doesnt have pavel's explosive knees either. the problem he had with his knee could have been fixed properly the first time and it was rushed and done in a shoddy manner. he was a consistent scorer in calgary, there's no reason he cant be so again. getting rid of bure would just turn us into that much more of a one line team...huselius has already shown that he cant carry the second line by himself at this stage in his career (as evidenced by last year's second half). if youre going to have to pay for him anyway, why not let him produce for youre team, not someone else's.
as far as the rest of your list, i wasnt that hot on trnka or cullen when we dealt ozo for them, but the gm makes the deals, and they either work out or they dont. trnka has been mostly invisible...but thats not necessarily bad for a dman.
the first one on my list to move is shvidki, while theres some possibility that a gm out there might think he has a real chance of being a threat at the nhl level and would give us something tasty for him. (maybe a third or fourth round pick or a nasty d prospect to go with all the offensive risk takers we got coming up). again, i qualify all this with the statement that i hope like hell i turn out to be wrong about this guy and he ends up being a 40 goal scorer for us. i just dont see it happening.
novo im either way on, if he learns better defense, hes got the speed to be a good role player. he reminds me a lot of sami pahlsson on the ducks...great spead and concrete hands.
TheTallontedTenth 10-18-2003, 02:11 AM About Comrie...
this is from TheFourthPeriod.com :
The Oilers haven’t received one substantial offer for holdout Mike Comrie, although, according to the Edmonton Sun, GM Kevin Lowe has entertained a handful of inquiries about No. 89.
The newspaper suggests the Atlanta Thrashers, Florida Panthers, Montreal Canadiens and New York Rangers could all be possible destinations for the 23-year-old centerman.
Such players as Marc Savard of Atlanta, Niklas Hagman or Matt Cullen of Florida, Mike Ribeiro of Montreal, and Jamie Lundmark of the Rangers could be send the other way.
The Sun cancels out the possibility of Comrie being dealt to Anaheim or Nashville, while New Jersey general manager Lou Lamoriello denies any interest he has in Comrie.

Comrie for Cullen?, i'd do this deal in a heartbeat

where do we sign?
Clint 10-19-2003, 07:28 AM Comrie for Cullen?, i'd do this deal in a heartbeat
Yeah, so would I... but would Edmonton?
We'd probably have to add in a pick or something.
Maybe Cullen and Novoseltsev for Comrie... That I like!!! :yo:
Epoch 10-19-2003, 12:44 PM Novoseltsev.
Cyclops II* 10-20-2003, 04:25 PM Florida isn't even in the race if all they are offering is Cullen or Hagman. Savard and Ribeiro are far better players than any of the Florida players mentioned. Cullen and Novoseltsev are garbage. Hagman is not enough for Comrie. Now Shvidki and Hagman would be in the ballpark. If Keenan hadn't screwed up Shvidki he might even be equal value by now.
