If Hasek chooses to play at the Olympics is he automatically the Czech #1 goalie, or is it a battle between he and Vokoun? Vokoun's wonderful performance at the World Championships is the only reason I could see them considering him, plus that he has developed into an elite NHL goalie, and is having a very good year so far. Unfortunately for him Hasek is an all-time great, and has been alot like his old self in the NHL this year. Also Vokoun was even struggling a bit, let alone not exceptional, in a few of the other international events he was in, World Cup last year, World Championships last two years(2003 and 2004).

by way of his performance in the 'new' NHL this year (15-4, 1.99 GAA and a .931 save %), i'd think they'd have to go with hasek.

and besides, i seem to remember him winning his country some kinda of hardware in the '98 olympics too.

Yeah the latter is a pretty good reason as well.

Hasek and Brodeur have both earned the right to start, but if either of them faulter (like Joseph in 02) they will quickly be replaced.

coach Hadamczik stated, that at this moment both of them are No1 for him and final decision will come at the very first game in Torino.
