... it was the worst broadcast I've ever seen by Fox Sports. It was done by Fox Sports Arizona. Did anybody else here on the board see their broadcast? It was terrible. They constantly mispronounced names, had poor camera work, and lost the picture during the game for 10-15 seconds.
I encourage anybody to send complaint letters to Fox Sports Arizona at asktheasr@foxsports.net.
Here's my letter:
To whom it may concern,
I understand the Florida Panthers are in the Eastern Conference and your announcers don't see the team very often, but I thought the work of the play-by-play announcer tonight was as bad as I've seen in any game in years.
As an avid Florida Panthers hockey fan and television viewer, I cannot believe you can put this guy on the air.
To put the facts behind my opinions. Your play-by-play announcer, throughout the entire evening, called Jaroslav Bednar (#27) as Kristian Huselius (#22). If you look at the tape, he misidentified him close to ten times. He also misidentified players regularly through the entire game.
Plus he mispronounced several names. According to the NHL guide given to all broadcasters, Branislav Mezei's last name is said (MEH-tzay) not (mez-eye). Also, Jay Bouwmeester's last name is pronounced (Bo-mister), not (Bo-meester). Your color guy couldn't even say Bouwmeester's name at all at one point. It was pathetic. This is PROFESSIONAL hockey and these broadcasters have to be professional enough TO GET IT RIGHT!!!
Don't your broadcasters do their homework to make sure they have the right pronunciations?? Don't they realize fans from other teams are watching these games via satellite or cable? I would suggest you tell your broadcasters to ask the home team's announcers to find out how to say names correctly. On top of all the mistakes, your camera work and production was poor. Simply said, the quality of your broadcast, technically and journalistically, was not good and below the standards of Fox Sports. You should be embarrassed!!
