"It's a big thing to have a guy you know is going to make a big save for you," defenseman Paul Mara said about the confidence Phoenix has playing in front of Burke. "Mistakes are part of hockey, and if you've got a guy who picks up you, you'll play hard in front of him."
The team plays hard in front of Burke because they think he deserves it. If they screw up, they are letting him down after he has done so much for them. With Boucher, he hasn't proven anything to them yet, so they have no allegiance to him, which means they have no emotional attachment to him. This all says to me that if they screw up, they have no problem just dealing with it. I really think that because of how Bierk played for them last year, they would do the same for him as they do for Burke. The solution is for Boucher to buy into Allaire's system, and be able to carry the team for a stretch, no matter how small. A 3 or 4 game streak would do it, I think.
