He hasn't played for Ilves Jr. A for weeks now and his profile has been pulled down on Ilves' website. Does anyone know what is going on with him?

A transfer to cross-town rivals Tappara is in the works / completed.

Do you think he'll be promoted to the SM-Liiga or start with Tappara down in Jr.-A?

He's a big guy with emerging talent... just can't stay out of the penalty box to save his life.

Akkanen got basically kicked out of Ilves' junior A team because of poor effort. The coach's opinion is that the A's are better off without him than with him in the team.

Karri trained with Ilves' Elite league team for a brief period of time during last summer, but he was quickly demoted back to the juniors because he wasn't fit enough to handle pro training.

The future doesn't look bright for Akkanen, unless he realizes that there's a lot of hard work ahead of him if he wants to become a good hockey player. He's a big guy who can pass the puck, but those are about his only assets for now. His skating and overall strength need a lot of work, not to mention his poor stamina.

Yes it has. Akkanen will play for the junior A team of Tappara.
