Epsilon 10-21-2003, 06:49 AM If Fleury doesn't go down to the minors, then Lehtonen. I don't buy this "baptism by fire" stuff as being good for his development. If the Pens send him down, then both guys have a good shot at developing into excellent goalies. Witness DiPietro who NYIs took their time with and is now looking like a breakout star. canucksfan 10-21-2003, 08:06 AM Fleury Don'tcry4mejanhrdina 10-21-2003, 10:25 AM Fleury. Vlad The Impaler 10-21-2003, 10:32 AM Bigger star (not necessarly better goalie): for the next few years it is a given that it will be Fleury. Lehtonen has just played his first game with the Wolves and currently has a .953 save %. It will be interesting to see how he does in Chicago this year. I would expect he will be called up once or twice for short stints. Robert Paulson* 10-21-2003, 11:02 AM If Fleury doesn't go down to the minors, then Lehtonen. I say Pittsburgh. They've been saying "baptism by fire" err whatever since the LA game, but he haven't faced 50 shots since the 1st game, they were just warming up. I think on average I estimate they've faced about 30-35 shots a game, and Fleury isn't playing every game. Him getting sent back to Cape Breton will be a setback in his development, because he won't face too much of a challenge back in the Q. He's the mentally toughest 18 year old hockey player I've ever seen, he can handle whatever's thrown at him :) I voted for Fleury in the poll, he'll be better. btn 10-21-2003, 11:03 AM Fleury has canada+hype. That is basically what it comes down to. Even if Lehtonen does succeed in Atlanta, people will always point to the offensive stars the Thrashers have. So if Fleury goes 2.50 and .915, you'll say Lehtonen, but if he collapses and goes back to Cape Breton, you'll pick Fleury? Xx Shadow xX 10-21-2003, 01:06 PM Fleury. Big McLargehuge 10-21-2003, 03:59 PM It's more arguable who will be better... Bigger star will be Fleury though, first off he's Canadian and secondly he's a Penguin. More exposure and overall a larger fan base. #37-#93-#27* 10-21-2003, 04:21 PM secondly he's a Penguin. More exposure and overall a larger fan base. Koltsov71 10-21-2003, 04:43 PM Lehtonen. PK* 10-21-2003, 04:49 PM Fleury will be the biggest star because he will probably be the only star with the Pens, unless they draft Ovechkin. Lehtonen will have to compete with Kovalchuk and Heatley to be the biggest star on his team.
