So, Norway will be playing in Group B at this year's upcoming World Hockey Championships!!!!
Also Group B is Canada, USA, and Denmark.
Canada and the USA will most definetely beat Norway unless they can make a huge upset!! ;)

But, for third place in the group, will it probably be Norway or Denmark??? Who is better and who usually beats each other????

Go Norway!!!!

How is the Denmark game gonna be tough for Norway? Denmark has yet to produce an NHL player... We just have to hope that OK and co. haven't had a bad batch of lutefisk before the game. :yo:

Lutefisk is very much underrated. So is Team Norway.

I'll even bet money for us to beat Denmark.

Danish people btw, are ****ERS! :madfire:

Any clue how many memebrs of this past World Junior Championship team will be on that team? Who else?

The only Norwegians I know are:

Anders Myrvold
OK Tollefson
Mathis Olimb
Patrik Thoreson
The guy who played for Tri-Cities a couple of years back

I'll add the Trygg brothers, Mats and Marius, who are both playing in Germany. Two questions there: will Marius be part of the World Championship team and if so, when does Norway hold its preparation camp/games?

Tore Vikingstad should be playing. He got the most valuable player award in Germany this season.

No clue if Marius will play or when they start the camp.

Ill be watching Thoresen and hope he finally get drafted this summer

PT is a Free Agent, doesn't need to be drafted to play in North America. Same situation Matty Olimb is in right now too. If both show up to play at the WC, they might have a spot in the AHL waiting for them next season.

Norway have some talent. My concern is goaltending.

Good point. But a solid D in front of a mediocre goalie can make that Goalie look great (See the difference between Marty Broduer when Stevens, Danyko and Neidermeyer were playing and now... Not to mention Belarus at the Olympics 4 years ago). If Trygg, Myrvold and OK can play at the top of thier game in June, as long as the goalie is compentant they have a shot.

What's with Matin Knold of Iserlohn in the DEL. He is a very good defender. Will he play for Norway?

*Gets out Sverre Kjelsberg & Mattis Hætta - Sámiid Ædnan cd...lo lo lololo lodeho lodehoa!*

Denmark will beat Norway, far too strong...only problem is if Peter Hirsch is the goalie...he's too old and useless, AaB destroyed him in the playoffs.

As for your comment on Danish people, fortunately i'm not Danish, but they're sweet :). But I guess i've only met one Mountain Monkey and he's a great bloke ;)

Perhaps no NHL players, but some great players SEL players and future NHLers. Franz Nielsen is making the trip to New York Islanders over the off season which sure is exciting.

Only i'm concerned about a few things for Denmark:

http://www.ishockey.dk/website/hentnyhed2006.asp?id=924
Isn't the tournament in Riga? It seems the Danish team are going to Vienna? I should say my Danish isn't that good, so I could perhaps be misunderstanding it...but the lines they are suggesting here are:

Goalie Peter Hirsch :madfire: (Simon Nielsen)

Mads Bødker - Morten Green - Thomas Reinert
Jesper Damgaard - Stefan Lassen

Christoffer Kjærgaard - Frans Nielsen - Michael Smidt
Rasmus Pander - Daniel Nielsen

Kasper Degn - Peter Regin - Thomas Johnsen
Christian Schioldan - Morten Dahlmann

Martin Pyndt - Mike Grey - Morten Madsen
Andreas Andreasen - Mads B. Christensen

I do though believe these lines will be changed closer to the World Championships, as the Danish Championships hit Game 6 tonight, and i'm sure some of Aalborgs players will be added to the team, perhaps Jens Nielsen, Mads Moller or maybe even a cameo appearance by Ronny Larsen (he owns a plumbing business and came here so i've met him :)).

I'm struggling to understand, someone who speaks Dansk, Svenska or Norsk could probably say for sure about this, but I think its reporting on wednesday the Danish national team beat/lost to Slovakia 3-1?

Looks like they fell 3-1. No worries though. Norway lost 11-2 to the same Slovakia team just last night :help:

I'm really concerned if Hirsch is better than Norways G...Norway must be very thin in net if he's worse than Hirsch, he got totally destroyed by Aalborg in our series with Nordsjaelland.

As for the national team, Denmark cold turn some heads...very unlucky to draw this type of group, as playing Canada is an instant loss...USA should beat both Norway and Denmark with ease, but given their problems against Latvia (for example) at the olympics, maybe we have a small glimmer of hope.

1-3 loss is not shabby against (of course understrengthed) Slovakian team.

Damn :(. I want the glory days of Scandinavian hockey, Norway and Denmark both future powers, with Sweden already on top of the world :). Its definately the most exciting hockey (the SEL and even the Danish League, I haven't seen Norwegian league matches :()

What I think though a big problem for Danmark is that there are few young goalies coming through the system, as most of the goalies are imported 'no hopers', who look great in Denmark. Aalborgs goalie Holst is a Swede, originally in Swedens WJC team years ago, now he's 28 and a Elitserien reject, but he's highly regarded in the Danish league.

I guess Peter Hirsch is regarded even higher, as of course he is a Dane, but he's got a good defence in front of him in Nordsjaelland, and when the national team is playing Denmark often get dumped in net.

Sonderjyske (Danish Champion as of last night) have 2 foreign goalies, with Mads Nielsen stuck behind them not getting a game. We do have an exciting goalie prospect coming through the ranks at Rodovre, Morten Nielsen, he'll be good to watch how he develops. But he's still stuck behind a couple of unimpressive older players.

Another couple of losses at home to Belarus these past couple of days. I believe it was 5-2 and 2-1. We`re missing some of our key guys, but this just wont cut it in Latvia. Way too many penalties and although our goalies did a decent job last game I just don`t trust the tandem. Very inconsistant and at times downright ugly games from both of them.

Goaltending is for sure going to have Norway heading back to Div1 unless one plays over his head.
