Bad HR and a Savage Injury

You have a prospect on the farm who is playing very well offensively in Jeff Taffe. You just sent down a struggling former top pick in Daniel Cleary who in his one game of NHL action was a minus 3 in limited playing time. Unfortunately one of your scoring wingers in Brian Savage is now sidelined with an unexpected (ok maybe not that unexpected) injury that will keep him out of action for the next month. Who do you bring up? You've already sent Cleary down and his spirits are low but I'm sure he understands that the Coyotes position is justified and he needs the playing time. If you fail to acknowledge the start Taffe has had you risk demotivating him and lessening his attachment for this organization (he starts thinking about playing for another NHL franchise). Bottom line is Cleary has done nothing to warrant the recall. Taffe has. If Cleary had not been sent down I would have no problem with the move. But he was and this is a bad management practice. Taffe earned the opportunity and right now I don't think he's caring about the CBA. He just wants to play.

This is the perfect time to bring Taffe up, because he will be able to get the playing time he needs, and if he is filling in for Cleary or Savage, he can't possibly play worse defensively.

on the ducks board...i read a foxsport analysis of the nhl team prospects,we ranked 29 or 28th.

maybe we should leave him where he is as we might be overrating our prospects.

if he does come up[and i think he deserves too]is he a top 2 line centre or top 2 line lwinger, anything other would put him in a position that may not help his confidence or development.

If any of you had seen his listless effort against the Worcester Ice Cats last night I think the word " overated " as posted above is quite appropriate .

I think his "listless effort" has a lot to do with frustration. He left college early, thinking he could go pro right away, then was stuck on Springfield. Everytime he got called up and would think he might stick around, he'd soon be sent down again. Now, after a great start to the season, Taffe has nothing to play for. He is obviously going to be the first call up.

He has definitely cooled down from his player of the week honors. I haven't seen him play in the A this year, but I don't see a problem in recalling him for a quick look see. You already sent Cleary down, and it's not like Cleary deserves the minutes Savage got any more than Taffe. I know these points all have been made, I'm just frustrated as you all are.

Yeah! I'd rather see Taffe but they've called up Cleary. What I'd like to see is Cleary on the 2nd line or PP. He has little value as a 3rd or 4th line defensive player. I'd like to see him play with skilled players just to see what he can do.

Regarding his great start: 3 of his goals have been on the power play and for the season his plus-minus is at -3. At this point He is far from being a superstar in the makin.
