Nash vs Kolanos

Just in case someone did not see this:

It's a dog-eat-dog world

Phoenix Coyotes tough guy Tyson Nash roughed up teammate Krystofer Kolanos in a recent practice. These things are never intentional (nod, nod, wink, wink), but Kolanos has been something less than the Coyotes had hoped since his return from a serious concussion that caused him to miss all but two games last season. The behind-the-scenes thinking, according to one source, is that the Coyotes need Kolanos, a gifted skater and play maker, to snap out of it and return to form. If he doesn't he might well find himself being shopped around the league. To Kolanos' credit, he didn't take kindly to Nash's assault and responded with a two-handed slash that broke Nash's stick, and participated in some pushing and shoving before teammates broke it up.

That's one thing that I always worry about younger players getting injuries. People have accused Lindros, Gratton, and now Kolanos as well as others as softening after injuries or due to trying to avoid injuries. They are not the players they had been or could be. I really would like to keep Kolanos on this team, but truthfully I was the only one saying we should send him to Springfield for a little game conditioning and time to work on his game. He only had 1 NHL game left before he lost waivers exemption this season, that has now passed, but his season is looking like he would have benefited re-discovering his game.

Much like Taffe, they don't necessarily belong in the AHL, but it might be good for them to succeed there, and the team to reward their progress.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work out that way.

Phoenix Coyotes tough guy Tyson Nash

Tough guy???

I don't see anything wrong with this. Shows the guys really care if they are mixing it up during practice. Always good to hear.

Because of this incident, and your mentioning of Gratton and Lindros, I am reminded of when they both played for Philly and had a full brawl in practice on numerous occasions.

be interesting to know if Nash was working Kolanos to get him to work harder (as a leadership strategy) or if he was just being an ass. Likely option B. I don't have a problem with some disharmony on the team. The team needs to have some internal conflict. We can't have everybody in a love fest. Aggression and frustration usually makes everyone work harder which improves their game.

Just ask the Rangers, hehe...

Sorry, couldn't help myself. Seriously though, I don't mind a little pushing and shoving in practice.
