He has 5 goals and 9 points in 9 games and is a +10. Maybe this is the year he becomes trade bait? Laich is starting to play well it seems (statistically). Iced, if you could tell us if he's actually been playing better, we'd all appreciate it. I'm really curious if Langfeld has actually improved or if he's just getting lucky.
On a side note, Emery's stats are WAY better than Thompson's. If Emery keeps this up he might shatter Prusek's record, which would be very cool.

Heard the play-by-play guy for Bingo on the Team today. A few of his comments...
- Emery carried the team during the first 5 games. Has been the team MVP thus far.
- Laich has played better of late, scoring in the last three games. Still feeling his way.
- Langfield has been moved up to the top line with Hamel and Corso, and the line has been on fire of late.
- Hamel has become very popular with his teammates, and the incident with Emery last year when he was with Rochester "seems" to be a thing of the past (although Emery's icey quote at training camp didn't exactly seem to indicate it would ever be forgotten).
Overall, the guy mentioned that Langfield, Laich and Hamel have been the three guys playing the best in the last few games - in the midst of a rather brutal road trip and travel schedule. Thompson only had one start thus far, so a little unfair to evaluate his performance on one game.

I think Thompson has played two games. I was pretty much using it to show how well Emery has been playing. Either way, Thompson will have a lot of time to work on his game.
Thanks for the info, my good doctor. I really miss the Team 1200 here in TO. Sigh.
Btw, what happenned to Giroux? Is he injured?
Langfeld has been playing very, very well. During the post season last spring, he took a few major steps forward and really became a force. So far this season, he's been one of the top 5 guys on our team. He's driving the net on a regular basis, making things happen and getting rebounds. He is working hard every shift. I for one, would not want to consider him trade bait. He's worked too hard for that....he should be considered a legit depth player for Ottawa...a 2nd or 3rd call up (depending on need). Listening to his interview this past Sunday, he's really got his head on straight and knows his role in the organization.
Hamel and Corso have been two of our most consistent guys all season and moving Josh in with them is a natural. Hamel has been our best offensive player so far this season, hands down and should be considered Ottawa's #1 call up. Despite Corso's size, he works hard and should see some time with Ottawa; he's earned it. He's far from being a rookie...as his stats show: http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php3?pid=00019304.
As for Emery....the worst game he's played so far this young season is a 3-2 OT loss against Hershey last Friday. By his own admission, he was not sharp and was not in the game. He's playing like he's on a mission. He's much more in contol of his game than last season....and that's scary, because he was perhaps one of the top two goalies in the league...as a ROOKIE!!
Finally, as for Giroux...he sustained a minor concussion in a game on Friday 10/17 against Hamilton. I don't think that it's all that serious, but it has caused him to miss the last 5 games. And, that's a bad break for Giroux...he was on the Hamel/Corso line and they were creating magic. I still am watching for Giroux to have a break out season.

Iced, can you give us a better idea of how Laich really looks? Interested to hear a scouting report on him from someone who has seen him play as a pro for a few weeks.
Thanks Iced - your updates and insight are appreciated by all of us!

:handclap:
The more scouting reports the better. :)
Langfeld might be the type of guy who would work well on a Joe Thornton line thus he might be a part of a package in a Brian Rolston deal (just keeping the dream alive). I think Langfeld would be much better served being traded to a team who would play him than being stuck as the 2nd or 3rd call-up - unless of course he prefers to have a chance to be a part of a Stanley Cup.

Any news on how Laich performed as of late?
