It seems fair to me, considering that it is all a gamble. Lehtonen and Fleury are both more highly considered than Miller. Vanek at 16 might be a bigger gripe, but we didn't select him thinking he is a complete player that is going to be one of the best in the league. He is a clutch scorer with a nack for the net. Many of the guys ahead of him on the list were drafted higher. Kastsitsyn was thought more highly but fell in the drafting because of health concerns.

Using my homer-vision, I'd knock both of our guys up a bit, but looking objectively it all seems pretty fair.

I think I would make a case both Miller and Tuomo Ruutu should be ahead of guys like Ryan Suter. I would also put Vanek above Milan Michalek, and Andrei Kastsitsyn, but I am a Sabres fan. I would have also found room for Derek Roy (Mike Richards made the list), and after this season, Jason Pominville may have an argument. Just to show I am not a total homer, I would have put Mike Komisarek higher on the list as well.

I dont know if anyone saw the article on sportillustrated.com (to lazy to get link) but they had the list of the top players in the A.H.L and

Nice to see Derek get some props on the S.I. list. But even for all NHL prospects, you can't tell me Derek isn't in the top 100! Sabres fan or not, he's top 100!!

I agree that he is. Hell, I didn't even notice that list was a top 100, I only read the top 25.

My take...

Ryan Miller, 10-20
Thomas Vanek, 15-25
Derek Roy, 70-80

No Roy is a startling oversight, considering Mike Richards coming in at 67 but with Shawn Belle at 50? Brent "IR" Krahn at 46? Jared Aulin in the top 40? Holy cats. Malloy, I would've expected better. :rant: :mad: :rant:

I don't see how even guys at the end ofthe list like Yukabov and Ramz Abid who already had a couple years in the minors and floundered a the big league are rate higher than Roy or even Paille.
