If Caps continue to stink...

And speaking of the Capitals, many observers around the league are expecting a shakeup following the team's miserable start. Unable to find takers for the expensive contracts of Jaromir Jagr and Robert Lang, the Caps are seeking to address their payroll-paring ambitions by dealing talented defenseman Sergei Gonchar and goaltender Olaf Kolzig.

Anybody on this roster who you could see in a NJ uni? The Jagr lead stiffs have the worst rec. in the NHL. I'd imagine J.J. is going to msg sooner than later. Hope they get something from the rag$ because nobody else will bid. Lang has been long rumored to be going to Det.

There are a couple guys on this list I wouldn't mind seeing in NJ and here they are in no particular order:

Nylander
Lang - never happen
Gonchar - never happen
Battaglia
Pettinger
Bondra - never happen
Grier

I agree on all points, I'd love Gonchar or Bondra in here, but it's just not going to happen.

I think Battaglia is a never happen as well (at least this season anyways) considering the Caps just dealt away a fan favorite heart and soul player to the Avs for him. Lang would be great here and so would Gonchar, but Lou isn't about to part with $8.65 mill for the both of them. Grier makes 1.6 million a year, but we aren't really in need of another left winger imo. I think the Devils need a bonafied number one center and RW'er over bringing in another left winger. Berezin is still a potential option, although I have no idea what his salary is.

If Zubrus is made available, we should get him. Can play all three forward positions, but is best at right wing and center. Also, he is a big boy!!! Would be great at center with Elias on left wing and Berglund on the right side.

Don't know his health status. If healthy, he is worth at least Adrian Foster even up.

I could see the Devils aquiring a guy like Halpern, or Battaglia from the Caps they'd fit this team very nicely Halpern can play wing with madden or play center on the 4th line, and Battaglia would be a nice fit with Madden as well..

Even if Bates Battaglia absolutely tanks it in Washington through the trade deadline, I can't see Caps management parting ways with him leaving nothing to show aside from prospect Jonas Johansson for losing their leader in Konawalchuk unless he's an impending UFA. Leonsis would be crucified by all the home team fans for doing this as it would be an admittance that he took one step forward for three steps backwards.

Despite the fact that Zubrus is a big boy, he plays like he isn't....atleast when I've seen him play. In my opinion Zubrus is not Lou's type of player.

Who cares. How could we not take any interest in Bondra?

He's awesome. I'd trade my left grape and Gomez for No. 12.

Sorry but I value my balls a little more than that. Gretz in his prime though? I'd cut them off myself. Ehhh don't quote me on that.

Bondra makes 4.5mil, so he is out of the picture and you can keep your balls :D
