I think the Sabres will pull this one out, maybe by a 3-2 margin.
Does anyone know who will start in goal tonight?

How about the captaincy?

Goalie- I would assume Biron. Supposed to debut another new mask tonight, as his Buffalo head one cracked in practice...

Captaincy- Havent heard anything negative in regards to Miroslav, so who knows.

About the captaincy, I don't think they're necessarily worried about changing it on the first day of the month. I'm assuming they won't keep it with Satan, but who knows?

Captain - Drury

Alternates - Zhitnik, Dumont

I'm going to say the same things that I said on the offical Sabres board.

I can't say I'm not disappointed with the decision to move the Captaincy, although I guess it's a good sign that Ruff is consistant with that as of right now. I think Satan was doing fine, but there may be another chance for him to get it again.

On the game, the Sens should be angry and ready to go tonight. On the other hand, Buffalo has loads of confidence coming into this game with 4 wins in 5 games. I predict a very close game, as everyone else seems to agree with, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Sens beat the Sabres tonight.

Division games are must win, so I'm hoping Buffalo pulls this one off. These are points that Buffalo needs to take from Ottawa themselves.

Good luck to the guys tonight.

Glad Drury got his chance. I doubt there will be another captain next month. Also, good move taking out Peters and putting in Max for this game. Tallinder is in for Patrick, right?

I believe Tallinder is in for Kalinin.Delmore's scratched...I still think he will score 12 goals this year though.

Just wondering, who will be your #1 enforcer this year? Will it be Boulton who just came back or Peters?

Entertaining period. Helluva lot better game than the slaughter Philly is inflicting on Toronto over on HNiC. Max saw almost no ice, but his line was pretty shoddy defensively on an early shift. Boulton didn't clear, resulting in protracted Sens cycle in the Sabre zone. Hopefully he can show some life and either force his way into the lineup regularly or boost his trade value.

Has Elmore worn out his welcome already in Buffalo? I noticed he hasn't gotten a point and is -4 in 10 games. Think he'll be traded?

Think anyone wants him?

Heading to OT... time to pick the GWG scorer... I'll go with Kotalik. Eventually he's got to get a shot on net right? ;)

That was a good game. Buffalo looked like a quality team in there, playing a tight checking game. They played a typical defensive road game against a team they usually battle in low scoring affairs and came out with a point. I'm not going to complain.

Biron looked strong (even if a lot of the shots were from the periphery, though he had a couple spectacular ones).

The guys kept buzzing around and trying to create chances.

And our defense is starting to look very solid again. I'm really liking Patrick. He's a rock out there.

EDIT: And why the hell does Josh Mora call Daniel Briere "Danielle Briere". God, it drives me insane.

Buffalo had trouble with a bouncing puck all night. It rolled on Satan in the OT, jumped around on Kotalik several times during the night. Come back with a solid showing against a certainly beatable team in Atlanta.

Buffalo 1
Patrick 1 (Briere, Drury)

Ottawa 1

Better powerplay execution and this might've been a Sabre win. It seems some of their forwards are back to standing around waiting for the puck to come to them rather than moving, even a little, to open a passing lane. And those shoot-ins when they didn't have momentum--the ones with the forwards peeling back to touchup at the blueline---were completely ineffective. I'd rather see them clear back into their own zone to set themselves up with some speed rather than more of that.

Really impressed with the effort shown by the team tonight. I think Biron should be named the starter and we trade Norenen and Delmore for a solid experienced back-up goalie, maybe someone like Garth Snow...

I'd keep Noronen over Snow without question.

Holy crap, when did Chara get that good? Did he just have a really good game, or does he consistently play like that? As of a year and a half ago, (the last time I paid attention to him) he was just a big body that could play decent D and throw some checks. Tonight he was ALL over the ice, not only playing D and disrupting things in the neutral zone, but what really surprised me was how he joined the rush and contributed to the offense so much. Also, he showed amazing balance and fluidity in skating for a guy who's 6'7"/260 or whatever. All around, I was just really impressed with how he seemingly has developed into a complete defenseman, which would terrify the hell out of me if I was the opposing team.

Anyways, good effort from both squads, and I'm happy with the point. We just need to go in for the kill vs. Atlanta on Wednesday.

no. you were'nt imagining things, Chara is really that good, look for him to be a consistent norris cantidate for several years if he can pick up his offensive game. A very well rounded d-man.

I think Biron has played solid enough that he shouldn't be brought up in trade talks unless it's for Kovalchuk :)

I think Zdeno Chara is a good defenseman, but a 2/3 not a number 1.More then a couple times, Chara lost the puck between his legs in the corner, which could have led to a goal or two if the Sabres would have capitilized on the oppurtunity. But like Mike Robitaille has said, this team is overachieving, and the games are getting real entertaining.Atlanta won't be no small feat, but just as long as we contain Kovalchuk, we should be OK.

But the game I am really looking forward to is Montreal.Hopefully Marty can prove to Theodore who the better goalie is.

I think Marty should play against the Habs, no matter what he plays like against Atlanta. Marty usually owns the Habs.

Biron and Noronen will probably split the home-and-home, with Biron's performance on Wednesday determining who starts Friday.

i love how some people vote for the winner after the game, after it ended there were only 3 official people who got it correct, the other 2 are cheating bastads :moon:

I hope not. I would give Noronen the start against the Thrashers if being tired in back to back games is an issue.

Aside from Biron's crappy game last year, he has played remarkably against the Habs.

Yeah they have to give Noronen a game every 3 out of 4 and Marty should play against the frogs.

That's not cool.. using derogatory terms like that.. knowing full well that we have some French Canadians on our team
