pretty even game, but rats did a great job capitalizing on their chances.
third period was painful again, but somehow they managed to pull it off in the end.

the positives:
balmochnykh--he seemed rusty earlier this week, but today he really looked good. awesome skater!

foster's goal was also nice, he skated in from the left and the goalie didn't come out far enough, so he put it past him on the far side.

also, tyler hanchuck was a nice surprise on D. some nice hits, physically strong, fairly fast, and all-around decent play. i'd be surprised if demarchi gets his spot back anytime soon.

Did PJ Stock try to impress his new teammates with any big fights tonight?

he certainly tried when he picked a fight with alex brooks in the first, but it wasn't a very memorable fight.

the better fight came later when skrlac and the older vandermeer duked it out. skrlac won by a mile :D

2 more assists for Steve Kariya. How's he been looking on the ice?

I wouldn't get too pumped up ovre a win against the Phantoms.

Phantoms can't buy a goal, and have been extremely poor so far. They have a good defense and good goaltending, but very little offense.

Patrick Sharp is our only real prospect playing forward for them.

Were you bummed about losing Savage or no? I used to watch him play for Providence a few years back and he gave them plenty of offense.

Not at all, the Phantoms signed him to provide offense, and he had been a major disappointment.

In 72 games as a Phantom he had just 43 points.

He is still Flyers property, just on loan back to Providence.

Dead thread revival alert!

Kariya has been very good so far.
But please stop asking when the Devils will recall him to NJ! :p
