Vandy's back as John said he'd be.
Meanwhile, the Rags put ex-Flyer Mike Sikklenka on waivers for the purpose of sending him to Hartford. With Brashear 50/50 for Thursday and with a need for more grit at both the NHL and AHL level, does anyone think Clarkie will put in a claim. I noticed Vancouver just re-claimed Nolan Baumgartner after the Pens took him in the waiver draft. Clarke did it years ago when LA took Tim Tookey, then tried to send him to the minors.
I know he's nothing special but he's the kind of player that could flourish in this organization. The Rags will just waste his time.

The sad part is, that's probably pretty accurate. An NHL Club should not be that damaging to anyone. Something needs to get straightened out in NYC.
I hope they claim him back.
Would be great for the Phantoms and free up Fedoruk for possible trade bait if someone is looking to add grit at the deadline. Not saying "quick deal Feds", but gives some wiggle room.

Fedoruk >>> Siklenka
Why take up the useful roster spot with Siks? I'm not saying anything negative about him, but we're already overloaded at forward and he'd have to clear waivers AGAIN to be sent down to the Phantoms. It just doesn't make much sense to submit a claim.

I totally agree with Feds>>Sik, but he is a nice insurance policy and good enough to play on the Phantoms. If someone claims him from us when sent down, oh well - they can just as well do that now. If no takers then claim him back for the Phantoms use primarily. Please note I only gave the difference two >> instead of three >>> ;)

I understand where your coming from Rex, my point is, what use is there picking him up if some other team claims him again? All this moving around can't be good for his mental game or his overall development. I feel bad enough for the guy having to play on the Rags, even if it was for only a couple weeks.
It seems like it's just a lateral move if we can't send him down. Now with Big Useless coming back tomorrow night, there will be a logjam at forward... er, moreso.

I just read that they did indeed claim Siklenka off waivers...
If they need some grit , why not just send Boston a draft pick or let them keep Savage for Stock??? :dunno:

I think part of the motivation to reclaim him might be pride. The Flyers plucked him out of the low minors and he advanced to the point of being on the NHL fringe and why should a team as poorly run as the Rag$ get a freebee. If the Rags need talent (and believe me they do!!) let them go out and find it on there own.
