How is he doing so far this year?? How about his injury probleme?

Do you think he can be call up by the devils if he is healthy?

Every time he plays in the AHL he seems to score a goal. However, he doesn't seem to play that much. He's injured often, and it happened again this year. I think he is back. I don't see a callup anytime soon. If he gets on a streak without being injured, then maybe.

Thats the best i can do, some guys on the NJ board could probably tell u more.

he missed the first 4 games due to injury, but has played in every game since. he's got 2 points, including one GWG.
imo he's been playing pretty well. having never seen him play before, the one thing that surprised me about him is that he's a quite physical player. he's unafraid, and seems to enjoy throwing his body around quite a bit.

You know what though? I'm glad. If he plays a perimeter game in the AHL, how the hell is he ever going to survive the NHL? Right now Foster is putting his body through the paces. If it holds up, we're in for a great 15 years, if not then it's better we find out now than 5 years down the road when he has like 160 games played in the nhl and has had one nagging injury after another.

Lord knows we don't need our very own Antropov here.

I look at it like whatever we get out of Adrian Foster is a bonus. If he makes the first line or the fourth, if he plays 10 games or 80, it is like found money.

Now if Parise is a bust, I will be mighty mad!!!

The only things that can keep Zach from being a superstar in the NHL is bad health and/or a bad attitude. I don't anticipate either.

How so? It's not like he was taken with a compensatory pick, or some other means of considering him 'free' or 'found'. He was the Devils' only first round pick that year.

His selection was a gamble. But it wasn't a "free" gamble. That pick could very well have been used to select Mike Cammaleri (among other players who are likelier NHL-regulars in the long run...) I don't see how you can consider a first-round pick 'found money'. I could understand, say, Vrana being considered 'found money'. But not Foster. He cost the Devils their only first-round pick. If he doesn't make it, that's a tangible loss.

I disagree. We picked Pihlman one slot, and we picked Pohanka five slots before Cammilari went, so you can't say that choosing Foster cost us Cammilari. If you look at the guys that went after Foster and before Pohanka, there's not much there:

Adam Munro
Dave Steckel
Matthew Spiller
Derek Roy
Timofei Shishkanov
Greg Watson
Mark Popovic
Kyle Wanvig
Duncan Milroy
Tim Jackman
Karel Pilar
Fedor Tjutin
Andrei Taratukhin
Tomas Slovak
Doug Lynch

There are a couple of guys that could be good, like Tjutin, but Foster probably still has a higher ceiling than most. When you have a late pick in a weak draft, it might not be 'free', but it the risk is easier to bear.

Wanvig and Pilar are the only two names I recognize from that list!
