Good, bad, indifferent? Post your thoughts on this.
How would you react to Comrie becoming a Flyer?Unthinkable 11-05-2003, 01:57 PM Good, bad, indifferent? Post your thoughts on this. PEli* 11-05-2003, 02:21 PM I would be kind of angry if it did happen. Bobby Clarke has done a good job of trying to make the Flyers a better team by adding solid players now and then. It hasn't translated to playoff success but it does make things harder for the Devils. Let's face it. Nobody wants the Flyers to get even better. They already compete at a very similar level to the Devils. Why let them get even better and potentially mess with the Devils come playoff time? This sort of thing is what Lou should probably be doing. Comrie is not asking for the world and is a great, young talent. He would easily be the #1 center here and the asking price would be steep but worth it. Just a thought. NJ_Devil_Boy 11-05-2003, 03:29 PM I could care less, but I do know it will cost them if they get him (eg. Gagne or Williams, ???). FearTheFlyers 11-05-2003, 03:30 PM Depends what we have to give up. Unthinkable 11-05-2003, 03:36 PM Depends what we have to give up. Would you like it if it was entirely dependant on Justin Williams being part of the deal? NJDevils#4 11-05-2003, 03:39 PM Would you like it if it was entirely dependant on Justin Williams being part of the deal? It sounds like you know something we don't Unthinkable 11-05-2003, 03:43 PM This is what was reported in the Edmonton Journal: THE LATEST ON MIKE COMRIE. EDMONTON JOURNAL: reported yesterday the Philadelphia Flyers and San Jose Sharks might be the front-runners for Oilers holdout Mike Comrie, which the Atlanta Thrashers and LA Kings are "long-shots". While acknowledging the Flyers are already deep at center, it's believed GM Bob Clarke might be willing to listen to an offer. The Oilers covet promising young blueliners Joni Pitkanen and Jeff Woywitka, but it's unlikely they'll be dealt. It's believed winger Justin Williams might be available. As for the Sharks, they'd like to add more offensive depth at center. If they offered up forward Marco Sturm or one of either Brad Stuart or Scott Hannan that Oilers GM Kevin Lowe might be interested. I couldn't express how happy I'd be if the Oilers pried away Pitkanen AND Woywitka for Comrie! KovyLove 11-05-2003, 07:48 PM I really could care less..............What would concern me is if they got Cujo. Because I would love for the devils to face Hackett or Esche in the playoffs. Another skater isn't going to help the Flyers but solid goaltender will. Cujo would fit in very nicely! - another playoff choker :yo: John Flyers Fan 11-06-2003, 05:24 AM I like Comrie as a player, and would add him if the price was right, but I don't see that happening right now. First of all, we're set at center for the moment, so I don't make the move if he can't play center for the time being (he could always be moved back to center when Roenick or Primeau leave). I can't imagine that Williams is available, as he along with Handzus have been our two best players this year. Pitkanen is untouchable. I am very high on Woywitka, but would move him in a deal to get Comrie. Chouinard, Woywitka, LA Kings 2nd I doubt that is enough, and I wouldn't be willing to give up anymore unless they were interested in Fedoruk or Therien (doubtful). FearTheFlyers 11-06-2003, 02:30 PM Chouinard, Woywitka, LA Kings 2nd . Ugh..i love Comrie but that deal would sicken me. How about Brashear,Ragnarsson and a pick..i dunno is this reasonable..is comrie's valuer higher? FearTheFlyers 11-06-2003, 02:31 PM Would you like it if it was entirely dependant on Justin Williams being part of the deal? only straight up. Unthinkable 11-06-2003, 03:08 PM Ugh..i love Comrie but that deal would sicken me. How about Brashear,Ragnarsson and a pick..i dunno is this reasonable..is comrie's valuer higher? I don't think that would do it judging by what the Thrashers reportedly would have to give up to get Comrie. Waddell has no desire to give up Braydon Coburn for this priviledge from what I've read. | ||
