Hey,
I heard he was demoted, is this true? What is his play like this year? I saw that he was ranked #36 out of 100 on elieprospects (www.eliteprospects.com ) ...is he that good? Who does he play like? How many years away is he?
Cheers,
Lee
Predatore 11-06-2003, 10:31 AM he is back in the SEL know, in fact he scored a goal in his last game.
So far this season he has seen limited ice-time on the fourth line but I think he'll see more ice-time in November, December.
If he is that good? Well, 36/100 doesn't really say much but he is very gifted offensively and has been playing excellent with the Swedish U20-team. He is a lock for the Swedish WJC-team.
How many years away? Hmm, my guess is about 3 years.
Edler Von Gud 11-18-2003, 11:24 AM Bump.
Anymore update on him? How's he doing? Is he getting more ice time?
thanks.
Predatore 11-18-2003, 11:37 AM I'm in a hurry so this will be a short reply :)
He is doing really well now. He had a strong tournament with the Swedish WJC-team in Finland and in the SEL he has scored 3 goals in the last 5 games.
Danielsson is seeing quality ice-time on the first line actually, so things couldn't be better right now. I hope he keeps it up!

Thanks, I just looked up his stats, I didn't know Jonas Soling played on Brynas too. It dosen't look that team scores much judging by the stats.
Good to hear Danielsson is doing well, is his favorite movie Karate Kid by chance? :rolly: Hopefully he can continue his strong play right through the World Juniors. After Canada, I will be cheering for Sweden in the WJC, I have grown to love Sweden for providing 1/3 of the Canucks team.
Do you happen to know what line he is playing on and who his linemates are? And also, is Bjorn Danielsson any relation to Niklas Danielsson?
thanks. :)

in today's game vs. Linkoping, he was on the first line with Tommi Miettinen and Niklas Anger.
hehe... Daniel-san! Paint'a fence! Wax on, wax off!

Okay, thanks for the info. Is Tommi Miettinen Finnish? I don't know if Anger playing on the 1st line is a good idea, they need better Anger management. :rolly:

:D
Miettinen is Finnish. A quite entartaining player to watch actually, good playmaker.
Anger is drafted by the habs and is a solid elite league player although I personally can't understand why team Sweden's coach Hardy Nilsson insists on having him on the team (he is not that good) :)
Yeah, I hope Daniel-san can continue producing. If he stays with the top line I can't see why not.

How old are Miettinen and Anger? and has Miettinen been drafted yet? I bet he was drafted by the Stars right? :D

Miettinen (http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=485)
was drafted 236th overall 1994 by the Mighty Ducks.
He'll be 28 in December.
Anger is 26-years old.
Edler Von Gud 11-18-2003, 01:36 PM Okay, thanks. I guess both like look they will finish their careers in the SEL considering their ages.
Do you have any idea who Danielsson will play on a line with in the WJC? who did he play with in the tournament in Finland? thanks
Predatore 11-18-2003, 02:26 PM Danielsson played with Loui Eriksson (top rookie in the SEL this season, drafted by Dallas) and Fredrik Johansson (drafted by Edmonton).
That was basically the only scoring line on the Swedish teams since the top two forwards (Alexander Steen and Robert Nilsson) were both missing.
Perhaps Danielsson will play with those two (Johansson & Eriksson) in the WJC but it would definitely be interesting to see him along with Nilsson and Steen.. that would make quite the line.
edit: made things clearer

Where can I look up his stats? or can somebody provide them for me?
GoGoHuselius 11-22-2003, 02:16 AM Where can I look up his stats? or can somebody provide them for me?
Nicklas Danielsson: 20 gp, 3g, 0a, -8, 12pim, 2ppg, 16sog
for future reference, if you want to look up any current SEL player's stats, do the following:
1. go to this link: http://stats.swehockey.se/start.htm
2. click on the link on the upper left that says 'Elitserien'
3. click where it says 'Players by Team' under the Team Statistics heading
4. click on the team you want to see stats for.
Edler Von Gud 12-02-2003, 11:25 AM Just to update everyone, Niklas scored 2 goals today, including the GWG, in a 3-2 win over MODO. Hopefully he starts to heat up all the way through the WJC.
Tampa GM 12-02-2003, 11:47 AM I saw the game and I must say that Danielsson was one of Brynäs best players this evening. He scored on his first shift and when Ove Molin got injured early in the 2nd period he took his spot on the first line.
The penalty was a great. I would say that Danielsson will play in the WJC in a few weeks.
Riddarn 12-02-2003, 12:00 PM Looks like we could put out at least 2 lines and two d-pairs of more or less regular SEL players in this WJC. Looks better than last year, imho.
Predatore 12-02-2003, 12:37 PM Danielsson is a lock to play in the WJC, IMO.
He has arguably been the best forward overall in all the U20-tournaments this season and a player that can put the puck in the net, which Sweden desperately needs.
The forward situation is looking quite bright
Alexander Steen
Robert Nilsson
Nicklas Danielsson
Loui Eriksson
...
play regularly in the SEL and are very gifted offensively
Fredrik Johansson, Andreas Valdix, Patrik Rönnqvist
Nicklas Eckerblom are also decent forwards in the SEL and should all have a shot at making the team.
Then there's obviously plenty of forwards in the 2nd-tier league and from the WHL that could make the team.
I don't expect the Swedish team to grab a medal but it sure would be nice if we'd reach the semifinals.
However, I do feel that USA, Czech Republic, Russia and Canada are far superior to Sweden.
MoDo_27 12-02-2003, 05:31 PM I think I saw a post that said 3 years away from NA or NHL...
Who would you compare him to and does he have enough of an upside for a top 6 forward spot in the NHL? He seems to be very under the radar as he is not even listed on the Nucks HF page.
Edler Von Gud 12-04-2003, 01:09 PM He scored another goal in Brynas most recent game, now has 6 goals on the year, yet still dosen't have any assists.
Predatore 12-04-2003, 02:22 PM he had another strong game. Looked good out there on Brynäs' first line. Definitely has good speed and a very good timing.
The assists will come soon I believe - he is definitely not a poor passer.

Too bad he missed that penalty shot though, it wasn't a very good try.
