So.. the Czech Republic won the game after shootouts. Still, a great third and overtime period by Sweden.
Stefan Liv was excellent in net, as was the line with Kahnberg-Svartvadet-Salomonsson. Some of the defensemen struggled tonight.. including Martin Lindman and Jonas Frögren.
Alexander Steen had a mediocre debut, did not stand out at all.. although he had some slick moves in the third period.

I think we should have won this one, 2.5% of our shots go in the net, that is NOT enough..

Dang.. Sokolov was terrific in net for Russia today.. as Sweden lost 0-2. We have like one natural goal scorer on the team, Magnus Kahnberg, but despite a good game and several scoring chances he did not manage to put the puck in the net. grrr

Sokolov was decent. The shots allowed weren't that good and most of them was shot from bad angles and/or far out. I do not really agree with what Curre said about the wrong people taking the shots. What the swedish play is lacking the most is a sense of urgency, desperation. Too much damn work done on the cycle in the corner, no people on goal and bad defensive play, especially in our own zone. Every time a russian player got a bit of speed going it took 2-3 players to take him out, and most of the defensive plays were poke checks or hookings. Mainly because the swedish defense was an armslength or two too far away to take him out properly.
1 goal in almost 80 shots is nowhere near good enough.
