If you guys live in the area and get a chance to see Holy Ghost Prep play, you better go and see it. They have amazing players that all work together great. They have everything they need to be the best team in the state and I wish my team has half the heart and half the talent they have. Tonight they ripped my team apart, we have our own problems and my team is going to have to change because we can't hold a candle to them. The only problem that I have with Holy Ghost is that I have no respect for their star player. He may be the best player I have ever faced but he should never run the goalie (myself) like he did tonight. Its a shame he has to ruin his skill by being one of the dirtest players that I have also ever played against. My hat is off to the best team I have ever seen in high school hockey, go check them out. Congrats Frank, ill try harder to keep it close next time.

Thanks Brad, you're a good guy. Way to hang in there tonight, I know its tough...

Thanks for the praise, however, I just dont see how you lack respect for Worthington. He didn't run you tonight - I watched the whole play from the bench. He stopped before you, Gaines (60, who is an absolute goon) shoved him into you, and then he fell, and Gaines starts punching the s**t out of him. Very cheap play, and we end up with a 5-3 Penalty Kill? Which I had to kill by the way....

Again though, thank you very much for the praise, I will mention it to my team tomorrow. We really appreciate it, even though the game kinda got ugly at one point. You played very well considering the circumstances, it wasn't your fault.

Thanks again!

I can only hope the Dogs come out and play the way they can. They usually win the Central catholic tourney. But they have been up and down this year. Good and bad performances. I think their goalie is weak.

Ehhh pretty embarrassing...we went 2-2, we played horrible the whole tournament. Beat Central Catholic 8-1, beat Fox Chapel 5-4, lost to your Meadville 7-1 (our goalie let in 3 really really soft goals...) and lost to Lancaster, NY 8-1. Lancaster tied Meadville...but meadville ended up moving on because they had more points and then Meadville beat Thomas Jefferson in the Semi's in overtime. I don't know how they did in the finals, but you said they won.

Nickerson is a pretty good player. I hear he has a full ride to Harvard next year...?

We're playing in the Directors Cup at Mellon Arena on December 26-29....we'll see Meadville, and I guarentee its a much better game. We played horrible all weekend.

OK...that's why Jeff Nolan, the guy who broadcasts our games on the radio for the LBCSHL has picked us to upset you in his season previews. They are posted on LBCSHL.org - but here is what it says about us:

"Holy Ghost Preview
Head Coach: Brian Tibbels
Assistants: Jim Britt, Justin Cercone
Last Season 19-1-4 (1st place)

Call it the “Post Gunderson Era”, because the Holy Ghost Prep is ready to begin hockey without their most prolific scorer in team history.

Ryan Gunderson is gone and doing fine at the University of Vermont thank you very much, but don’t break out any crying towels for this years team.

Paul Worthington begins his senior year with an opportunity to pass Gunderson as the teams all time leading scorer. The question is, does head coach Brian Tibbels have a playmaker to set up the speedy forward.

“Paul will have to learn to play with Shawn Dorsey and Michael Jordan”, said Tibbels, “But he should be fine and the other guys will benefit from playing with him”.

Tibbels feels that Worthington is at the top of his game right now and incredibly fun to watch. NSN East agrees, for the first time in a while mind you, with Tibbels.

The coach is also high on his goaltending pairing of Andrew Golin and Anthony Risoldi who is just a sophomore. As great as Golin can be, Tibbels says he isn’t losing anything when they call on the younger Risoldi.

Defensively, the Firebirds are set. Remember when Joe D’Agostino, Jack Hillock and Buddy Lawall were the new guys? Not anymore. Now there expected to be leaders. And I’m still convinced that Lawall would walk through a door instead of opening it if he were allowed.

Trivia Question: Who lead his team in both hits on the ice and hits on the baseball diamond? (See answer below)

Jeff Smith is also a senior who has learned with the group and all of them will help keep an eye on sophomore John Ritchie.

Up front, coach Tibbels thinks that his lines, one through three, are closer in talent the ever before.

Josh Steaker had some clutch goals last season and will be paired with Kristian Valenti and Frank Seravalli… to form the second line. Steaker will also be part of the formula in replacing all the points the Firebirds lost when Gunderson graduated.

The third line will consist of three young, but very talented underclassman. Mike Andrusko, John Soroka and Lee Zukowski. Two freshmen and a sophomore. May sound like a TV pilot to some, but for Holy Ghost, it’s the future.

The Firebirds start the season with nine new players and a new assistant coach, Mike Cercone. Jim Britt teams up again with Tibbels as the two start season number seven together.

I know what you thinking. With all the talent that Holy Ghost has, how can you pick Neshaminy to win the league title? Just a hunch.

Based on that prediction, I do anticipate the icy glare that will greet me when I walk into the rink and cross paths with Duane Smith. And when I feel a tap on my shoulder, I know it will be Jim Britt saying “Jeffrey, do mind stepping over here….I have some things I would like to discuss with you….”

But never forget. Who was the first to predict you were going to win the Flyers Cup title last year, huh?

If you are the goalie that plays varsity for Pennsbury then there is no way you have 4 shutouts. I play for Neshaminy and you aren't that good. You are always out of position and go down to early. You're too big and watching you try to make a glove save is a laughing matter. I'm guessing you lost more games than you won for your team.

wow who are you?!?!?!?!?!?! Yes i am that big goalie that plays for Pennsbury Varsity team and yes I do have 4 shut outs already. And yes that was me that was player of the month last month. And to see how good I am just check the score board Pennsbury 2 Neshaminy 1, i think that means we won. Granted the first time we played it was 2-1 the other way, but still total thats only 1.5 goals against me a game. I am sure your a big part in beating all the single A teams you guys get to play all the time, but you should ask the good players like ducko or gorden and see what they think of me. Ohh and i can't forget you guys just played North Penn and tied 2-2 while ealier in the year we won 5-0, once again one of my 4 shut outs. Why don't you ever shutout a good team or atleast play good against them for that matter. And what's your g.a.a? I looked on your website and it's hovering around 3. You really came up big in that Holy Ghost game too. Of course it wasn't all your fault, but whenever a goalie lets in 12 goals he has to take most of the blame. I was at that game and if you would have came to play maybe your team would have had a chance. The other goalie they put in after you gave up goal 8 or 9 was 10x better than you and if your coach had a clue he'd put that guy in and sit your ass on the bench.

still who are you, i doubt i have ever even heard of you before. I have one bad game, against one of the best teams in the state, and you have made your mind up about me. I just shut out a good team yesterday , in father judge a team that ,because Neshaminy is a bunch of cats( use the other word), will never have to play. I came to play we won 3-0 get over it. I am easily in the top 3 goalies in our league if not the best depsite my GAA, which on that web site includes our travel team stats. Name one goalie that is better then me in our league. The only one you might be able to name is Golin from ghost but its easy to let up 2 goals a game when you have that offense in front of you.

so just back off untill you grow enough balls to tell me who you are so we can see what kind of player you are/aren't. We will see how far you get in the playoffs too when you will be forced to play ryan and Father Judge, or Ghost or Pennsbury. You guys will lose so bad and i hope it's me who gets to shut you out. right now i wouldnt be surprised if Truman best you guys one of the 5 times you play them the rest of the season.

CR South plays in the Single A and best north catholic 8-2. North Catholic is pretty bad though, the second worst team in our league.

BTW after the past week my GAA is 2.7 and without the ghost game its 2.2 last time i checked a 2.7 GAA , 9-5 record with 4 shutouts on a high school team which doubles as a travel team that plays triple A teams isn't that bad.

The problem I have with you is that you come on this board bragging about how you won player of the month and are some great goalie, when I've seen you play and can honestly say that the other goalie on your team is much better. Your team is decent, but they will never go anywhere with you between the pipes. You are too slow and sometimes it looks like you aren't even paying attention when the puck is in your own zone.

You guys have some good players in Sweeney, Fafara, Garft, Mitro, and Walsh, but it's too bad their season is a waste because you are so high on yourself that you won't take my criticism and make your own game better.

Last question and I'm done. Do you really think you deserve to be on the all-star team? From the games I've seen you play I would say that you are blessed by a good defense and if you played on a team like Bensalem you would get lit up.

Our defense is good when they are on but when they are off they are way off. The 4 shut outs i have they have been on. A good goalie should benefit from a good defense and great goalie(which i am not) will make the defense better then they are. I think i do deserve to be on the all star team, they take 3 goalies and i should be one of them. I did play on a team like bensalem 2 years ago, it was called truman.

Did you play varsity? What years? i don't recall harborcreek ever beating the vasity meadville team. They usually get crushed ala. 10-1, 12-2, 7-0. The last game I played in against harborcreek we won 21-0. that was several years ago though.

played freshman, jv, and varsity in 98-99, jv and varsity in 99-00 but left PA for Tennessee in Dec. of 99. We beat Meadville in Erie at Glenwood in 99-00.

I can't remember that game. God, I hated playing at glenwood. Were you able to play hockey in tenn?

Quellet, I see Holy Ghost is scheduled to play at the Meadville Invitational in late December or Jan. What position do you play and what is your number? I'll have to go to the game and see how ya do. Just wait till you play on the Meadville ice. It's the best ice surface around. Very Very fast. You'll know what I'm talkin about after you have to play on that Mellon Arena Ice. That rink is garbage. The ice is so soft and slow.

P.S. the visitor locker rooms at meadville are small and very plain. If you can remember try to get your coach to get you guys a tour of the Bulldog locker room. It's amazing. although after we stopped our string of 6 straight state championships in 1997 they took out the pool table, pingpong table, and video games. They did win states again last year so they might have gotten some of the toys back. And be prepared to be bored in Meadville there ain't nothing to do.

We're not playing in the Meadville Invitational, we're playing in the Directors Cup - but i'm not sure where that is being played.

I'm a defenseman, but in the beginning of the year I played foward so I may be listed as a F. Also, I wear number 12.

P.S. - We don't want a tour of the enemy's locker room...nothing special anyways.. :p

yeah, the lights there SUCKED. Heh, hockey here isn't the greatest thing in the world, although I'm playing college club and we are a pretty good team. Division 3 though, so the likes of Penn State and Co. would crush us.

The Meadville locker room was sweet back in the day. My dad used to work at the pro shop there when I was way younger and I got to take a look around. My favorite Meadville memory is bubble hockey 10 minutes before warmups were supposed to start cuz no one told us warmups were before the resurface. :joker:

Are you sure your not playing in the invitational? Our stupid paper is probably wrong, as usual.

I understand your thoughts about the locker room, but It's a good example of what can happen when a whole community or team boosters get totally behind a team. Plus its just kind of like a night and day thing if you had to dress in the away locker rooms.

Hey Iron I hope you get the bucks county courier times because tomorow on the 10th there is going to be an article on the LBCSHL and i am going to be in it. The guy came to the rink yesterday and gave me a 10 minute interview. I am pretty excited because i never thought this would happen to me 3 years ago when i was cut from a JV team. I hope its good, i cant wait.

and you played D, was that before helmets? I know it wouldn't have been important to keep that neshaminy filled brain of yours protected. :D

Quellet, do you know anything about NJ High School Teams? Meadville is going down to play a couple of games this month. Whose considered the best and such?

Most NJ teams are trash, really. There is like 2 respectable teams in the whole state: Lawrenceville School and Princeton Day School. We tied L'ville 4-4 and we're playing PDS soon.

Everyone else is pretty much just pathetic (No offense to any NJ HS players)

i play travel hockey in NJ now, and i'm playing with about 3 of the best guys i've ever played with in my 16 years of playing. i've seen a few high school games up here in north jersey, and there are definitely some good teams.

hey...sry i dont know too much about philadelphia high school hockey cause im not from the area but I was wondering how Malvern compares to Holy Ghost or some of the other better philly prep schools. Because I play for Wyoming Seminary prep up in kingston and we beat schools like Malvern and Lasalle pretty handily almost consistently every year

Cool! I just read it.
I don't get the rag, but it is on line. Here is the site for anyone else who wants to read it: http://www.phillyburbs.com/pb-dyn/news/108-12102003-210696.html

The really funny thing is I went to Shippensburg too (Jr and Sr years). We didn't have a team my senior year, and we had one my junior year, but I entered in January and the losers (being a club) decided that they did not want any newbies (ice time greed) and would not even give me a shot. I was pretty ticked because one of the reasons I chose Ship was the hockey team. One of my teamates from when I played with your coach (we had to wear helmets -leather :D -but no shields or cages, which I did wear) played on Bloomsburg's team. I went to see them play and after Bloom won, I spoke with my buddty in his lockerroom, he said I would easily have been Ship's best Dman. It was their loss, but a real drag for me, not bering able to play for the school team. My junior year, I used to go home every other week and play with Johnny B and the boys.

Congrats on the article, Brad - I included you in the Lower Bucks report I wrote for Breakaway Magazine by the way...I like how they mentioned us at the end of the article:

Slap shots
Don't miss West Chester East vs. Holy Ghost, 7:15 Thursday night, Grundy Recreation Center. The second of two rematches between last year's Flyers Cup AA finalists. Ghost lost the initial rematch, 4-1, on Nov. 14. ... Former Bensalem standout player Randy Rongione assumed the Owls' head coaching duties prior to the season. He replaced Stan Roberts, who oversaw the team's 1-23 finish last season. ... Neshaminy junior forward Andrew Ducko is expected to miss the regular season with a foot injury. He's hoping to return for the playoffs.
HOW THEY RANK1. Holy Ghost (7-1)
2. Archbishop Wood (9-0)
3. Pennsbury (7-5)
4. Neshaminy (10-2-1)
5. Council Rock-North (2-3-2)

Tomorrow nights game is huge.

Thanks guys! Its nice to see that i am getting some press around here lol, even after that neshaminy kid comes on here and tells everyone how "bad" i am. I am going to try my hardest to make it to the game tomorrow, Ghost Vs WCE is going to be amazing.

have you played Cambelford, Fenlon Falls, Kennar, Buffalo St. Francis? I'm pretty sure my High school team beat you guys in 94 8-2 in a tourney in toronto. I know we've played other canadian teams. I'll have to check the schedules.

Don't make me out to be the bad guy. I tell it like it is. "It's nice to see me getting some press around here?" Do you really think you deserve all of the so-called press you are getting. The LBCSHL is a joke and we both know that. The guy who wrote the article, Esposito, has prob. never even seen you play. He gets the scoresheets and goes by that. You can come on this board and soak it all in, but deep down you know you don't deserve it. Or maybe you really are THAT high on yourself right now. I do hope you make the all-star team though because I wold love to see you get lit up so the whole league can see what a joke you really are.

P.S. and for all of you out there that want to see what I'm talking about I'll post Pennsbury schedule on here as soon as I find it.

FlyerFan42, if you think you're better at your position than Superman33 is at tending the net, why not give your name? You have nothing to be afraid of, right? Or, you're no better at what you do than #33 is between the pipes, and you're poking fun at him to make yourself feel better. I honestly have never seen Brad, as I know him, play in a varsity game, so I cannot judge at all. But what you're doing is taking sucker punches at him.

I have to agree with Brindy here. Flyerfan42, you are embarrassing yourself, and worse you are making ME a Neshaminy Alumnus side with a Pennsbury Sparrow. Thanks alot.
Save yourself, tell us you are a freshman and the son of the great Gary Theobold and that you will light up the league in a couple of years.
