well jackets fans, it seems like years since the last game, and one I'm sure we'd all love to forget! but now its time for offense and defense to show up for 60 minutes!!! right?

Ok...here it is....

3-3 tie.... :shakehead The jackets play a decent game, but can't seal the deal after they come back from a 1-3 deficet in the third period.

CBJ Goals: Nash, Sydor, Cassels

ATL Goals: Kovalchuk, Kovalchuk, Stefan

Denis: 26 Saves

Nurminen: 28 Saves

3 Stars: 3rd Star: Rick Nash
2nd Star: Ilya Kovalchuk
1st Star: Cassels (Assist on Nash goal and GT goal)

It will be nice seeing a lot of old faces back in the lineup tonight.

I am a little concerned as Spacek, Sanderson and Klesla will all be playing hurt. Still, it will be nice to get past this injury plague when we hit the ice tonight.

We need to come out strong. That will be hard off a layoff like we've had.

Marc Savard is out for a while with an injury...thats really the only reason I opted for tie instead of Atlanta win...

Getting our injured back helps immensely, but not enough unless the play of others is questioned and addressed.

You'll see Dafoe tonight, not Nurminen. The Thrashers play back to back, tomorrow against the Islanders. Use your starter within the conference.

Paper (though not always correct) says so too:

On a lighter note, it looks like Walser will be sent down...I'd rather have JLGP as our 7th d-man now, or Errickson.

Just a hunch, but I'm thinking that the Jackets will play a solid game tonight (wanting to give some payback to Atlanta for opening night), as well as get a break or two. They have to go our way some time, right?

4-2 Jackets, with Tyler Wright (who else?) scoring the empty netter.

I'm listening to the game on the net, and the Thrashers' announcer said that Klesla won't be playing tonight.

Fritsche got scratched...which is odd. Maybe Doug is trying to show somebody off.

2-1 Jackets so far, both teams scoring a goal off the other's defensive zone miscue.

I don't find it overly weird.

It wouldn't be fair to expect an 82 game season out of him.

A game from the press box will let him see things from a different perspective.

Hey!!! How about that Walser??:)

You know, after all the b*tching I've been hearing, I've really went out of my way to pay attention to Walser this game, and you guys are right! He does suck. Terribly. It's so obvious, I find it incredible he's playing. I mean, wouldn't it have made more sense to scratch Walser, play JLGP on defense (if you've got to play him at all) and keep Fritche in the lineup?
Just the way I see it, although I'm sure someone will correct me in my thinking.:)

JLGP is the MASTER of the pass to no one in particular. The only pass I've seen him make that hit someone's tape was in the first when he passed it right to a Thrasher's D-man ten feet in front of him.

I know that he plays on the 4th line, but my God.

good game...good defensive effort dispite the two goals. Vybes...wow....wow. He is really coming into his own, I just hope he can keep up the pace even if Sanderson starts scoring more. I thought the physical game was the best since the Chicago game. We need that for our scoring to happen. Walser still sux though...

David Vyborny:

Letowski looked really good out there tonight, especially after not playing for almost a month. It was also good to see Duvie out there.

Sandy got goal #1 tonight. He's due for one of his patented hot streaks. Here's hoping it starts now.

And there was much rejoycing.

Yay!

Grit, hitting, effort, hitting, goaltending, hitting AND scoring. They guys knew they had no excuses tonight and they played like it.

I shudder to think what kind of game it would have been with Mr. Ling playing.

No injuries!

Now let's follow a win with more points.

Who throws a weakass pass to someone that's getting covered like a blanket, then doesn't pick up his man once the return pass is picked off? Who then shows no emotion when said mistake results in a goal? The goalie is mad, the other defenseman is mad, he is not.

A player gets charged and a different defenseman shows some passion and mixes it up. On the next rush down ice, the goalie is run into and the defenseman stares off into space.

Who am I talking about? One answer. I'll leave you with that.

A Few Notes

-Id like to apoligize to Scott Lachance for saying that he has sucked in the past. Playing with guys like Derrick Walser will do that to you.

-Denis really didnt play that well, but then again, he didnt have to.

-Dafoe actully looked pretty good, except for that Sanderson Goal. He made two beautiful saves, one on Nash, and one on Vyborny

-Dont most teams lose the first tgame back from a Road Trip? Mabye the Blue Jackets didnt try hard on the road trip....

-Can we please Scratch Shelley for these Games? Grand-Pierrie is a fine enforcer for these types of games.

-No David Ling! No Dan Fritiche!

I've always been a quiet Lachance supporter...the guy is a defensive stalwart, maybe more so then Richardson. He has little offensive ability, is a pretty slow skater, but has great stick check and defensive awareness. Walser makes that third pairing look horrible most nights, but I'm sure a lot of hockey fans will agree that Lachance does his job, and because of Walser is mistake-prone, he makes a bad showing on the pairing, oh the times seeing a teams forwards bust down on Denis and Lachance the only one there to try to stop them, and Walser is in the other team's zone...because he pinched way too early or because he was physically manhandled and had the puck taken off his stick . Please send him down...he is absolutely terrible and is no longer a prospect in the system in my eyes....career AHLer.

Agree with the JLGP issue to Sam, Shelley is pretty unnecessary when we play a team like Atlanta, or almost anyone else in the east.

Also, I don't agree with Fritsche being a scratch, unless Doug was shopping a player to scouts in the audience. I really don't think Ling has made too much of an impact, he hasn't played with the same intensity that we saw last year, maybe another JLGP in the process.

I'm thinking Doug is showcasing Hyphens off. Why else would he get the 4th line RW spot over Ling? Unless Ling has the flu or some sort of injury...it makes no sense.

That never occurred to me, but it makes a lot of sense.
I've already cried about Walser, so I'll just give him a.........HEY! What happened to the mooning smiley!!?? Is this Nazi censorship or what??
I liked that smiley.....

right now I'd take Walser for a 6th rounder and Hyphens for a 5th rounder... they just aren't cutting it.
