If it were a player with a history of dirty play such as Pronger or Tkachuk then yes. Weight has no history of dirty play and I honestly dont think there was the intent to injure that some believe. Does it deserve a suspension? Yes. But I think some people are going way to crazy over it.

Weight deserves a suspension. Two or three games is enough. Anything more is too much.

That's hockey...deal with it. It's not like Weight shoved his stick down Sedin's throat, which is what it's being made out to be, and Weight isn't known for stuff like this; he shouldn't even be suspended.

Bertuzzi has done that before . 3 or 4 years ago he ran forsberg into the boards and seperated his shoulder and gave him a concussion. I said most fans becuase most posters in that thread were cancuk fans and most were calling bloody murder.

That crosscheck could have very well ended H. Sedin's career or at the very least the season if it were a little lower.

It was hard enough to break his helmet. It would have been more than hard enough to break his jaw or crush his larynx.
Whether it was a spur of the moment thing or it was premeditated, Weight deserves a suspension of at least 2 games regardless of what sort of player Weight is.

I definitely don't think we should take contact out of hockey, but what does people complaining about a vicious cross-check have to do with taking contact out of the NHL? I see no link. A cross-check is a cheapshot and if a Canuck player did it, I'd have a problem with it too. If the roles were reversed and Henrik cross-checked Weight in the face, I would want Henrik to get the justice he deserved. So this is not some sort of bias thing, it's that Weight crossed the line and took matters into his own hands after Henrik was hassling him. And he deserves the 4 game suspension. And I don't think a player's previous track record should really come into play in terms of discipline. Whether Bryan Marchment commits a dirty play or Pavol Demitra does, I don't care. The fact is it happened, and the guilty party deserves to be disciplined.

As you were then. Speaking of Footer, he was given two games a couple years ago for doing the same to one of the Coyotes players. Not nearly as ugly as the Weight hit on Sedin, but brutal all the same.

Tkachuk mentioned in an interview he thought Foote did what he had to as they were taking runs at Sakic all night. Only he said it should have been Todd Simpson instead. I guess despite all the battles those two have had, there's still some professional respect.
