Upcoming Schedule.....

Well the next 7 games look like this:

C-Bus on the 9th, Hawks on the 12th, Nash the next day, Oilers that Saturday the 15th, Toronto on the 18th, Habs on 20th and Chicago again on the 22nd.

I think this will be a great indicator for Calgary of which direction we are headed, these are all games I would be disappointed if they lost (not that I'm not always disappointed if they lose, but you know what I mean). Maybe this stretch can get the offense back on track, if not, a move should be made IMO, we'll be at 19 games by the end of it.

If they can't win these games there is no hope for this team...I would be happy with a 5-2 record...

Well they threw away two points tonight. I don't care to hear how well they may have played, they HAVE to win a game like that, thats just a waste of two points, and we can't afford to waste any points. Onto Chicago on Wednesday.

Well they dealt with the Hawks 6-2 and are down 4-1 to Nashville late in the 3rd, Come on Calgary get some consistancy.

Sometimes I think the Flames are TRYING to improve the SV% of EVERY goalie in the league.

Seriously, how do you outshoot a team 11-4 in the 3rd when your down 2-1 and have THEM score both goals?

So far 1-2-0-1

Need to win the last three to make it respectable. (Although some might say 4-2-0-1 isn't a respectable record after losing to Columbus and Nashville.)

Anybody know the line-up for tonight yet? I hope Sutter quits beating around the bush and just puts Iginla and Lombardi together on a line....I'd like to see something like this.....

McAmmond-Lombardi-Iginla
Saprykin-Reinprecht-Kobasew
Lowry-Conroy-Donovan
Oliwa-Betts-Clark

Regehr-Leopold
Warrener-Gauthier
Lydman-Ference

McLennan

I think Gelinas and Yelle are both out tonight, and my guess is that Ference stays in the line-up 'cause I thought he played well other than that nightmare last shift of the third against the Oilers, but he may draw out for Montador. I think if any Flame right now can jump start Iginla it has to be Lombardi so we may as well play them together. I thought Saprykin earned some extra ice on Saturday, he played well I thought. Clark may take Kobasew's spot if Sutter thinks that line is too young and weak defensively. Conroy will stay in Yelle's spot 'til Yelle gets back, then hopefully we can move him up and get his offense going so we can trade him for something good. Thats my opinion anyway.

Tonight's should be a spirited game. Toronto needs to get their as*es in gear and Calgary always comes to play against TML. BTW, why's it so quiet on this board, I thought for sure Calgary would have one of the more active boards. Just a friendly question. :dunno:

Yeah this isn't the highest traffic board. I know that a bunch of the posters who post here also post at calgarypuck.com and that it is a much higher traffic board and a greater collection of Flames fans. This board does fill a niche as most posters on here are interested in prospects so that aspect of the Flames discussion tends to be better on HF. If I wanna talk Flames I head to CP. If I wanna talk Flames prospects or the upcoming draft I head to HF. Just my personal preference.

Well we took this one, 3-2 in overtime.

Lydman with the game winner and an assist. Iginla assisted on all three goals. Reinprecht had a goal and two assists. McAmmond had a goal and an assist. This makes out record 2-2-0-1 for this section now. We sit one game under .500 at 7-8-0-2 for 16 points and last in the NW. We still need two more wins to round this out, our I'm really going to be unhappy with this section of games.

PS - On a side note McLennan passed Yves Belanger and Doug Dadswell for 15th on the All-time Flames goalie win chart with 9 wins. Not sure if we can call that a milestone :p

Not only that but with 6 wins this year Miika Kiprusoff can pass the incomprable Tyler Moss for 20th all-time.

Either we've had some really good goaltending along the way or a bunch of real crappy tenders have strapped on the pads for the Flames.

I would say it's been a bit of both. Going back to Atlanta you had Dan Bouchard. Then "Reg-gie Reg-gie", Verno, then it's tended to be downhill with Kidd, Freddie, Turek and the rest of the poor souls who've strapped on pads since Vernon left town. While Vernon wasn't exactly a fan favorite (nor this fan's favorite, can share a story or two) he certainly was the best to ever play for the Flames.

Who can ever forget the goaltending legacy left by Jim Craig?

The thread's straying a bit off-topic. BUT...In his defense, Vernon deserved better. "Fans" harrassing his parents borders on the psychotic. The pressure of playing the hometown is enough. (Ask any of the Quebec goalies about playing in Montreal.) Whatever side issues were there, and the failed second coming, he did make a valuable contribution to the Red Wings rise to prominence.

Now after the win against Mont, we have 5 points in last 3 games.

Things are starting to look up for sure, if they a win over Chicago on Saturday they get a rest and hopefully go in with a lot of confidence against Colorado and then Vancouver

From the realm of statistics and history, Craig Conroy's assist tonight put him ahead of Bobby Leiter into 43rd on the all-time Flames scoring list with 146 career Flames points.

Another W tonight pushes the record above .500 and for this group of games we finished out with a 4-2-0-1 record, they lost games they should have won, but I can't complain too much about that record, lets hope they can rest up and come out flying against Colorado and Vancouver. They now sit tied for 8th in the west with SJ.

By the way this was Regehr's 300 games as a Flame (and therefore his 300th career game).

PS- I will now officially lay off Dean McAmmond, for awhile at least ;)
