Pujols .329 57hr 141rbi 121 runs 9SB

Pujols will win the NL MVP if all stays the same.

Thome would win the AL MVP if the season ended today...before that homer to Utley, I though Pap had a shot with the nasty .24 ERA, though if he keeps going like this and finishes with nearly 50 saves and keeps a sub .5 ERA, he should at least get the Cy Young...

You have to give Wright a ton of credit, but considering that Pujols is still statistically the NL's best player even with all of the time he's missed, he has to win.

acr, I agree with you Papelbon has no chance at the MVP (it's probably going to Jim Thome, David Ortiz or Joe Mauer IMO) but he should be a shoe in for the CY Young unless he collapses.

Mauer wont get it....sure he could hit .375 but he wont have the power numbers or RBI's not too mention his likely team wont be in the playoffs

It would be cool if he started the all-star game, even if it was only an inning.

Have they done that before with a closer?

I think Papelbon will cool off a bit (as in give up more than a couple of runs for over the next 90 games), and I expect somone else to step up and steal the MVP not named David Ortiz, Alex Rodriguez, or Manny Ramirez. I wouldn't be surprised, however, if a pitcher takes the MVP award this year.

Watch out for his partner, Carlos Beltran.

Beltran missed about 12 games this season and is on pace for..

.300 AVG
42 Home Runs
120 RBI
24 SB's

Keep an eye on Carlos Lee and the Brewers as well.

Stats so far.

.276 Avg.
25 Home runs
63 RBI's

And Matt Holliday as well for the Rockies.

Stats so far.

.353 Avg. :amazed:
15 Home runs
54 RBI's

Overall top 5-6

1. Pujols
2. Wright
3. Beltran
4. Holliday/Lance Berkman
5. Carlos Lee

MOST VALUABLE TO TEAM- if st.;ouis keeps going the way they are going who is pujols but a-rod. Just some guy working for stats and that is it. But wright is the most valuable he has 5 walk off hits this year and his average with two outs and ducks on the pond is insane!
Prediction for wright
avg- .337
HR- 36
RBI- 127
awsome scale (1-10)- 12

Is that you Mike Lupica?

But wright is the most valuable he has 5 walk off hits this year and his average with two outs and ducks on the pond is insane!

Batting average w/RISP (rank):

Pujols .469 (1st)
Wright .365 (19th)

If you're going to use a number to prop one player over another, you should make sure that the player you're propping up isn't getting whooped by the other guy in that stat.

Prediction for wright
avg- .337
HR- 36
RBI- 127
awsome scale (1-10)- 12

Awesome scale! w00t!

but he doesn't even play on defense. i don't think DH's should be allowed to win the MVP. right now though, pujols has a slight edge over wright for the NL, and in the AL i think vladimir guerrero will win.
