Thought occured to me...

Doan and Nagy, from what I have been listening to, and from the box scores, have been our best players. Langkow is great with Nagy. Johnson is hurt, opening up a spot on that line.

Nagy-Langkow-Doan looks very similar to Naslund-Morrison-Bertuzzi.

Nagy is a poor mans Naslund this season, but he actually plays defense.
Doan and Bertuzzi obviously play the same style, but this year Doan's production has been on par with Bert's as well.
Langkow to Morrison is a warranted comparison as well based on playing style, production, etc.

Maybe if this line can produce, we can put Johnson (when he gets back) on another line, because he produces wherever he is. Maybe if this line can produce, it will be good enough to carry us to the playoffs.

Look like they played this way against Ducks, didn't they?

Nagy/Langkow/Doan played as line only in specific situations .. when the face-off was in the Ducks zone and Francis wanted pressure on the goalie.

Nagy also played with Hrdina and Radivojevic on the Slovac Line.

Doan also played with Savage and Gratton.

Langkow also played with Radivojevic and Nash.

Gee, thanks PhoPhan! Now I see it!

I also had a few 'thoughts occur to me'...:

-Tanabe is just like Pronger, because they both wear skates...

-Boosh is like Brodeur, because their last names start with the same letter...

...I had a few more thoughts, but I'll leave it at that... ;)

So your saying that similar playing styles, measurables, and stats doesn't tend to seem similar? If that's not similar, what is?

Doan- 5 g, 8 a, 13 pts in 13 games
Bertuzzi- 5 g, 9 a, 14 pts in 15 games

Nagy- 7 g, 8 a, 15 pts in 12 games
Naslund- 7 g, 11 a, 18 pts in 15 games

Langkow- 4 g, 3 a, 7 pts in 13 games
Morrison- 6 g, 7 a, 13 pts in 15 games

So you see it wasn't unwarranted. Doan and Nagy are both scoring more rapidly than their counterparts, but Langkow is scoring less rapidly than bizarro Langkow (Morrison).
I will reiterate that they haven't proven to be the #1 line in hockey yet, but all I am saying is that there are similarities, more esoteric similarities than wearing skates, and having names that start with the same letter.

It was a Joke.. I agree that they have the making of a good line too, but who taught Doan to skate over the Summer

I got you, PhoPhan! I was only trying to make a point about the fact that these similarities are nothing more at this point. - Similarities -

If my memory serves me correctly, I think that Tie Domi lead all Leafs players (including Mats Sundin) in goalscoring a couple of years ago. This was of course only ten or so games into the season. I guess someone could have argued that he his the Leaf's new offensive weapon... ;) Once again, I am only trying to say that this is a trend - not an established fact. I know that you know that - I am only trying to have some fun with the thought... :rolly:

Langkow and Nagy DO play great together, and adding Doan (Captain and second leading scorer) makes sense. All three of those guys deserve top 3 forward ice time. However, Doan can play on any line pretty much, just like Johnson could. Although it IS early in the season, I appreciate your Nucks top line comparison PhoPhan.

What about Kolanos centering Doan and Nagy to wake Krys up...maybe for a game or two?

Nagy JUST bagged another one...tied the game at 1 apiece late in the second. 8 goals so far...SWEET! :yo:
