Found this on the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk board, thought Id bring it over for you guys to see.

The HF board:
http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?threadid=27212

Basically they are saying that Buffalo may be inquiring about Martin Gerber or Ilja Bryzgalov for some reason. They also believe that Buffalo was taking a look at Smirnov and Holmqvist.

The Rochester Newspaper article:
http://www.rochesterdandc.com/sports/amerks/1111S12ARL7_amerknotes11_amerks.shtml

The article is worth clicking on just so you can see a good picture of Cin. rookie Shane O'brien fighting! :yo:

The Ducks may be checking on Bryzgalov to see if he is ready for the NHL if Gerber is indeed traded.

I think the Sabres have the best trio of goalies in the league right now: Biron, Noronen, and Miller. I don't see why they would want to add another goalie? Unless they want to dump Biron to another team and take Gerber with Smirnov or something.

I think Miller will be ready next year and Noronen is ready now.

This makes no sense, Buff is the last team to need a goalie.

Imo, we have the best trio. Jiggy, Gerber, and Bryz sound pretty good for me. but yeah, maybe they have 3 good goalies. but considering Bryz was the player of the week, teams have to notice that. so i wouldnt be surprised for more rumors about Bryz.

But I think the Sabres are trying to trade Biron off because he's been inconsistent and to make room for Miller next year. I could see them bringing in Gerber to rotate with Noronen. I guess Regier has more faith in the play of Gerber than he does in Marty. It makes sense in helping the team out this year and shape the future for Miller.

According to EmpireSports reporter Josh Mora (the local Buffalo Sports channell) a deal has been struck and will be finalized tomorrow. This guy doesn't tend to report things that don't come true. It is speculation at this point I suppose (I will try to at least find textual confirmation that he said it), but it's something to watch for.

I hope something happens between our teams. We could use a shakeup, and I'm sure you guys wouldn't mind. Plus, new players are always fun.

this report is a little bizarre to me

there were Buffalo Executives at a Rochester Americans game
there were Anaheim Executives at a Cincinnati Mighty Ducks game
it happened to be the same game
therefore, obviously a deal must be going down between the two teams

I don't know about Buffalo, but we got an empty roster spot up here in Anaheim, so I'm thinking our boys were down there looking at who they should call up
isn't it a given that these guys would be watching their own AHL teams, isn't that what player development personnel do?

Using this logic, I'm going out with that hot girl who takes dentistry, because we go to the same school

I'm sure this speculation has to be born of something more than that simple fact that both sides were at one AHL game. No one reputable in Buffalo ever makes crazy speculation. This is the only good trade rumor we've had all season. Usually the news and reporters around here are pretty good.

I guess we will all see tomorrow.

I hope the ducks dont do anything major. Carney has come back, and straightened the defense out. jiggy is seeing all of his shots and making good saves. i think the scoring problem could be solved if Babcock would just switch the lines up a little bit. so hopefully the team isnt over reacting.

Weren't you just advocating trading Chistov, Smirnov and Vishnevski for Comrie and Laraque?

could the deal possibly involve Zhitnik coming our way? He is supposedly on the block.

I never came out and said we need to trade chistov for comrie. yes i proposed the trade, but only because they were saying Lupul was going. so i did it as a solution cause id rather keep him then chistov. shoot i wouldnt be dissapointed at all if we didnt get comrie. i dont see him as a need right now.

Jason Weimer is on waivers right now. I wouldn't mind seeing him brought in to shake things up rather than making a trade. We have a roster spot open. The only problem is his 1.6 million salary.

If we do get a guy like weimer, then I'd gladly drop a guy like Craig Johnson. I thought he would bring speed, strong defensive play and some scoring. If the ducks keep playing like did in toronto then we need another big guy to help protect the many smallish players we have. But at 1.6 million, thats a little too high. They would have to drop a guy like Simpson who hasnt been playing well but they cant do that since Sauer is hurt (or acting like it, i think they are trying to market Vish more)

Minnesota picked up Jason Weimer today. I think that the ability to grab a player off waivers before another team can is based on the standings at the time. Thus, Minnesota was able to grab Weimer before we ever had a shot at him. Not sure if Murray wanted him or not, I guess we will never know.

He would have been a nice player to have in the lineup rather than Craig Johnson for sure.
