Good matchup tonight, eh? Both teams have similar records. Thomas is supposed to play tonight? I think he is. I'll predict a 3-2 Detroit victory with the scorers being, Shanahan, Schneider, Hull for Detroit. Hasek will get the start and I think He will continue his good play.
Dallas is on a three-game losing streak (I think), and hopefully the momentum that we started on Monday night will carry over. Hasek did have a good game, and Shanny seems to be coming out of his scoring slump. And Thomas should be there to play tonight so maybe, just maybe we can make it two in a row.
I'm not going to predict a score...but I'm hoping Brett might do something tonight against his old team, and I keep hoping that Pavel can have another good night.
zetterberg40 11-12-2003, 09:15 AM The keys to tonights game is gonna be we need to keep the solid physical play going, bootland i hope will play, we are gonna need someone to help push around big guys like guerin, arnott and morrow.
ill say 4-1 detroit, solid defense/goaltending and the offense is gonna keep going hopfully
det: shanahan, lidstrom, holmstrom, thomas
dal: zubov
MotownMadman 11-12-2003, 09:19 AM A 3 game losing streak for Dallas? Ouch! Unfortunately that makes me think that they will be due soon. I figure that Dallas is also looking for some payback after our last meeting. I agree that we need to match them and find ways to counter their size. I do think that Detroit can pull this one out, but the team needs to play a solid 60 and Hasek needs to be great to do it. A Jamie Rivers hattrick?! :)
Vincent Vega 11-12-2003, 09:34 AM With Dallas on a 3 games losing streak I gotta go with Detroit win!
Stumpy is going to have an impact in his 1st game in Detroit. He wanted to play badly and he wanted to play for a contendar, he is happy to be here and I am happy to have him.
Detroit 5 - Thomas(2), Yzerman, Fischer, Williams.
Dallas 2 - Turgeon, Kapanen.
Ajacied 11-12-2003, 09:51 AM Detroit 11 (Yzerman 7 times, Woolley, 4 times) - 2 (Icegirls and an own goal) Dallas
Seriously, with our best player out, and with that, an entire line that happened to be our best one during the 2003 season and with 2 top 4 defenseman being questionable I don't have much for faith tonight, much less when you add up all the slumps we are having.
Enjoy the game tonight, I am sure it will be a beauty for you Wing fans..
PigPen 11-12-2003, 10:02 AM Probably 3-2 wings
Wings will want to keep their heads above .500 for the first time in a long while and Dallas will want the win just as badly so they can get above .500
This game will be intense.

Agreed. I think this game will be closer than people have thought. I also don't know exactly what kind of an impact Stumpy will make. I hope they take things slowly with him since he missed training camp and all.
Also, after reading Mog's post, I guess I didn't realize how beat up the Stars were. It sounds like you guys are missing a hefty part of your line-up!
Shoalzie 11-12-2003, 11:14 AM I pray that the Stars don't wear the bull jerseys. :p
Vatican Roulette 11-12-2003, 02:01 PM 4-2 Dallas
With all their injuries, i'm thinkin a few of the rookies and/or grinders bring it out tonight and catch Detroit off guard.
I do hope Detroit wins though.
Spaceace 11-12-2003, 02:42 PM I hope the Stars can help Detroit start another losing skid. 4-2 Dallas :dunno:
TomHBlain 11-12-2003, 03:02 PM I hope the Stars can help Detroit start another losing skid. 4-2 Dallas :dunno:
Ha! We'll see... I dont think the Stars are at the top of their game right now: Wings 3, Dallas 1. Hat-trick for Shanny, Modano for Dallas.
Well, it's 2-0 at the end of the first...Jiri Fischer  and Stevie Y  have lit the lamp so far, Thomas is basically fourth line right now with Bootland and Williams, but he did do one shift with Pasha and Brett. He says he doesn't care what he has to do but he wants to contribute. Fine by me.
By the way, Shoalzie, you didn't get your wish. They are wearing those awful thirds. I still think the logo looks like a drawing of a female reproductive system. Sorry!
TomHBlain 11-12-2003, 05:11 PM Steve Thomas with his first goal as a Wing. I think that kid has a good, long future with the Wings ;)
4-2 Wings...they gave the first goal to Stevie so now he has two for the night...great to see Thomas get his first as a Wing, and Schneider has one to make up for getting hit in the face with a puck (face shield time, Mathieu?)
Oh my God it's 5-2 now...Pasha on the power play - that's 6 goals for him already and 4 of them on the PP...thank you, angel!
guinness 11-12-2003, 05:30 PM God Turco looks terrible and it doesn't help with Dallas turning over the puck, 5-2 right now in the 3rd.
Coffey77 11-12-2003, 05:37 PM Thomas gets a goal in his debut. Nice.
4th line now looks servicable. Thomas-Williams-Bootland. Now the Wings can use 4 lines instead of using just 3. Bootland picks up a point as well. Surprised to see him in the NHL already. i thought he would make it next year.
What's wrong with Dallas? Seems like they are the same funk as Detroit and Colorado. Weird seeing all 3 teams playing .500 hockey.
Congrats to Nicklas Lidstrom, who got his 700th career point tonight with an assist on the first goal. Not too shabby, Nick!
Surprisingly, the 4th line looks good...Bootland, Williams and Thomas seem to be getting on fine. Keep it up guys...you're starting to look like the Wings we know and adore.
My, my, my...the frustration is starting to show...first Jiri and now Bootland get into the dukes up...decision Red Wings on both counts. Gee, think we should keep this Bootland kid around? It might make Arankys shut up about us not fighting. :joker:
Wingboy2999 11-12-2003, 05:40 PM I don't see Hudler in the box score....does that mean he finally got sent down?
I don't see Hudler in the box score....does that mean he finally got sent down?
Yes...with Thomas here, Jiri went scooting down I-96 heading west...hey, Jiri, wave hi to my dad and my brother in Brighton as you go sailing by there, eh?
Oh dear God in Heaven...did you see that last goal that Pasha made???? HOLY TAMALES!!!!! What a work of art! Pasha, once again, you blow the fuses and make my jaw hit the floor. Magnificient!
Oh jeez, what an absolutely sick goal by Datsyuk.
Wow.
Grift69 11-12-2003, 05:56 PM That was insane............................................ ..
SpinTheBlackCircle 11-12-2003, 05:56 PM holy jumpin......that was magic.
guinness 11-12-2003, 05:59 PM I hope someone makes a video of that goal by Dats, I could watch that over and over...
holy jumpin......that was magic.
Dammit, no T.V. here... and Ken Cal is good, but I need to SEE that goal...!
Man, I love that big-headed Russian monkey.
He's got more tricks in his magic bag than Felix the Cat ever would have dreamed of...
Overrated? I don't think so!
Russian Fan, put THAT one in your highlight reel! You have to be just beside yourself with glee over that one! I'm so tickled watching that goal that I'm shaking like a leaf!

Honey, if that goal doesn't show up on every highlight reel tonight, I'll be in total shock. Talk about Monet with a hockey stick!

Winger98 11-12-2003, 06:10 PM wow, I haven't seen the Wings do that in awhile...they looked like the grittier team. If Bootland is going to play like this on a consistant basis, I hope he keeps his roster spot, he will deserve it.
Seeing Schneider take that puck to the face scared the hell out of me. I didn't think it took him in the eye or anything, but I could just see him going down with a broken jaw and being out for a month. It would have put the Wings in a bad pinch on their blueline. It was good to see him back out there in the third (and scoring a goal, to boot).
Thomas did everything expected of him. A damn good signing.
Finally, wtf were the linesmen doing in trying to break up the fights? They did squash the first Booter-Ott go around, and they didn't really let Fischer-Boucher go at it. A beer for Booter and Ott for coming out of the box and finishing what they started.
Now on to Chicago and another 2 points.
Epsilon 11-12-2003, 06:12 PM That's 11 good periods by the Wings out of the last 12. This team is really starting to round in to form and I for one am glad I didn't start panicking after 10 games (not saying anyone here did mind you, but a lot of fans from other teams seemed to think we were done). Bootland looks like a better player than advertised and if he plays every game that way and keeps his head about him he can be a regular on the 4th line this year.
Ok, Datsyuk comes in all alone on the left. He's a left hand shot and he opens up like he's going to shoot it in the upper left corner of the net. He drags the puck across the front of the net and roofs it in the upper right.
Vyacheslav 11-12-2003, 06:13 PM I only got to see the last few minutes of the game but damn that Pavel Datsyuk goal was brilliant.
I had all I could do not to scream with joy...if I would have been out at a bar watching this game they would have thrown me out for being rowdy. Oh, man, I'm still shaking like a leaf...let the joy be unconfined, let there be dancing in the street!
You realize that 7 - yes, 7 goals already this year for Pasha! And we aren't even a quarter of the way through the season yet! Could this be an omen of good things to come?

Ahhhh, if I squint *really* hard I can almost see it.
Thanks!
:handclap:
Epsilon 11-12-2003, 06:23 PM Datsyuk is like the Kobe Bryant of the NHL, minus the criminal charges. :joker:
zetterberg40 11-12-2003, 06:23 PM datsyuk = god
all i can say... im still speechless

its one of those goals that will be shown again a few hundred times, you'll see it
He makes this old heart of mine thump like a rabbit. WOW!!!

Thanks!

Oh, I almost forgot... my buddy started a little 'Wings blog, but there's also some other weirdness, mostly goofy Photoshops and such.
Feel free to stop by and have a look, we need quality posters!

I post as Wolfe there.

stu the grim reaper 11-12-2003, 06:29 PM datsyuks goAL actually reminded me of back in the day when Jagr would score and you would have to look at what he did like 3 times before you understand how he actually did it
Okay, I have a video capture of the goal... email me if you want it anyone and I'll see about getting it to you.

Sick, just a SICK goal.

I had to see that highlight goal a second time in order to see what Datsyuk was doing.
Putting the puck behind him and then roofing it. Hehe, I should have known Pavel would have pulled off a deke somewhere.
You realize I'm now going to be up til about 6AM watching the replay of the game just so I can see that little hummer...there goes another night of sleep down the tubes.
Oh well, it's worth it. I don't have a schedule...I'll sleep tomorrow afternoon.
Pasha, you are amazing....
Epsilon 11-12-2003, 08:14 PM The only other guy I've seen pull off a flawless stick and foot move like that is Jaromir Jagr.
And if memory serves me right, didn't Mr. Jagr get taken to school by a certain party who shall remain nameless? ;)
Seems like i missed something. I went to bed when the score was 5-2. I got a total of 3 hours of sleep. I'm a wreck sitting here at work.
Nice to see Wings get another win. The 4th line played good. Booter's pass to Thomas was a beaty. Yzerman can skate but I think sometimes he, and others, float to much... work the legs! skate hard!
First Wings game on TV here in Sweden this season. I hope they send some more soon.
Holy smoke! I just saw Datsuyk's goal... what a break away!!! Sweet move. Forsberg class on that one.
Hell, honey, I think Forsberg would be drooling over that move himself. ;)
Made the top of the top 10 Plays of the Day on ESPN. Sweet!
Vatican Roulette 11-12-2003, 10:59 PM ................................................
I can't believe he did that.
Great game by Detroit, Dallas played ok at times, but they need to make some changes.....and get healthy.
BLONG7 11-13-2003, 03:58 AM UNBELIEVABLE GOAL, man that was the goal of the year... Marty Turco looked like a 9 yr old goalie playing nets, cuz the coach said he had to...WOW! :yo:
MotownMadman 11-13-2003, 04:24 AM Aaaaaaaaaach! I couldn't watch the game. I am so disappointed that I missed Dats's goal. Remembering some of the tricks he and Zetts pulled last year makes me forget the disappointment of the playoffs.
Sounds like we played a solid 60 minutes and that some of the line combos really clicked. And, just to contradict my suggestion of starting him slowly, Stumpy scores his first. Glad he showed me!
It also sounds as though the Stars were out of sorts. I still hope we can build on this win and the chances that were created.
By the way, does anyone know how many short-handed goals the Wings have this year. It seems like they score one on the penalty kill just about every couple games.
With Mathieu Schneider's last night we have six, which leads the league.
I am still hyped about that goal...I sat up til 6AM watching the game...I didn't know Hasek got an assist on Pasha's first one til I caught the replay. But holy smokes, that second one was the most amazing thing I've seen in a long, long time...there are no words that can describe it. You gotta see it to believe it.

Thanks for the update on short handed goals scored.
I just watched a video clip of the Datsyuk goal (a few times) and am loving it. Again, hope we build on this and start getting things going.
Vincent Vega 11-13-2003, 06:44 AM One of Datsyuks goals, the breakaway one. Not sure if it was his 1st or 2nd was simply amazing. My jaw was hanging to the ground after I saw it.
A couple random notes on Pasha's goal...
A friend of mine who saw it said it was too bad he couldn't have done it earlier in the game. I say he saved the best for last. :D
I also went back and looked at last year's stats compared to this year's. He's more than doubled his goal total and the assist total is down a little. But that's good because it means he's taking more chances, which is what they have been wanting him to do all along, as well as all of us.
Last but not least...I like this Bootland kid...he should stick around.
Spitfire11 11-13-2003, 01:23 PM How did Bootland and Fischer do in their fights??
Game, set and match to the Wings...made it look easy.
