5-2 Blues. Even without Shark-killer MacInnis, they should dominate tonight. They're not on top of the Central Division for nothing. They should compete all year long, though as soon as Detroit finds their legs (and with Dats making moves like the one he made last game, it won't be long), they should beat them for the division winner seed in the playoffs.

Goals by Weight, Demitra (2), Jackman, and Tkachuk for STL, Marleau and Cheechoo for SJ. Patrick should buzz, but no goals. (Sorry, Serena! Please don't shoot me!)

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say no goals for Weight tonight (he's still suspended, right?).

:)

Tkachuk and Demitra will have a big night, unfortunately. On the positive side, I get to boo Pronger some.... so it won't be a total loss (except in the standings).

Weight is serving out a 4-game suspension, so you might want to reduce your St. Louis prediction by one goal.

Oh crud... my initial post even left out the "stone-cold 100% lock" for all STL/SJ games.

Dallas Drake will hit someone from behind into the boards, and STL fans will come over and defend him as "gritty" when we all know he's nothing more than a no-good, cheap-shooting hack.

That HockeyCrazed. What a jerk :p. He always goes to these games and doesn't invite me . . . :(

I was coming on here to cause a little bit of trouble with him, but seeing as how he's at the game, that would be pretty hard. That, and he's pretty darned close to the final score. I say 6-3 Blues, and I'm going out on a limb and saying Demitra gets the trick.

Kevin Wey

Dislike Mellanby???

Doug Weight's stock for me did drop a bit when he went ballistic on the Marchment hit where Weight got taken out for trying to avoid the hit. That one was his fault. (Granted, Marchment had plenty of other questionable events.) I still like Weight for the most part though, because I liked him as a rookie and I'm loyal like that, for better or worse.

Hooray for Rissmiller! I mentioned it in another thread, but I'm just so thrilled for Rissmiller. I've even edited his profile to say Patrick, which he apparently improves. That made me realize I always say "Patrick Marleau." "Pat" Rissmiller rolls off the tongue easier than "Patrick." It's the rule of four syllables. "Patrick Marleau" sounds better than "Pat Marleau." I've had a habit of saying "Patrick Falloon" some too, just cause it sounds better.

Stupid Osh! (Sorry, that was just fun to say. Probably one reason you all subconsciously didn't vote me for moderator :) )

Already 1-0. This looks like an imminent 3-7-6-1 record. This team has got to take action if they want to clean up the early season mess. Maybe get at least one more star player. For once I want to see them WIN at home.

i'm listening to the game on radio tonight and they interviewed doug wilson during the 1st intermission. i gotta say, even if he has yet to prove himself in action, i really like the things he says.

a couple details:
he confirmed his interest in comrie, but didn't give away anything we don't already know.

mentioned he's getting a lot of calls from other gm's and is always open to any deal that will improve the team, but it's gotta a deal that improves the team short-term and long-term (no "band aids").

said (paraphrasing), "i told [the cleveland prospects] if i made a deal for anyone that's not significantly better than them, they should come across my desk and punch me in the face."

he believes the sharks are really coming together as a team and starting to play for each other.

I must say, though, that the instigator penalty is going to be the death of the NHL if they don't get rid of it. Instead of protecting players, it causes them injury. Would Tkachuk have cross-checked Davison if he knew that Parker would take him apart for doing so? I think not. He'd know that he'd have a one-way ticket to a hospital because Parker would quite literally tear him apart.

Note to NHL: 3rd man in, good penalty. Instigator bad. Unga! (Note the "caveman-ese," so Buttman can understand it...)

Tkachuk better get a good punishment. Also did you see Quinvilles quotes on the play? Omg. Somones getting sour because the Sharks got a point out of it. Third period and on was great! I almost turned the tv off for the lack of sleep i've gotten over the past week, then I decided whats an hour of sleep going to do. Turned back on the tv....Minutes later Sturm got a goal, 20 seconds later bam another one.

McLaren played a great game! I wish Rathje was in uniform.. Tom Preissing is SLOW! Primeau and Rathje wouldve helped the cause of the game.

Hannan also played very good. Nabby couldnt do much about the first 3 but the fourth he just got jumpy.

Great game Sharkies... !! Too bad I can't see them Saturday

I only heard the game on the net. If Tkachuk's attack of Davsion was a crosscheck to the neck area as the radio team indicated it should be a 7-10 game suspension.

The officials made the correct call on the disallowed goal. If the net is off the ice even a sixteen of an inch they have to disallow the goal. The rule is idiotic but the call was right. Since Hannan dislodged the net there should be a penalty to San Jose regardless of whether it was intentional. IMO a 2 minute penalty if deemed unintentional and 5 minutes if intentional.

Wow if I was an NHL defensmen id be moving the net all the time when the other team has a scoring chance. I can't believe they disallowed the second St. Louis goal. That rule is a joke. Refs should have the ability to say it was barely moved by the opposing team and the goal stands....just pathetic by the NHL last night.

If you award a goal when the nets are an inch off the moorings and a goal is scored along the ice then you create more problems. What do you do when a puck that would have gone over the net goes in because the net was an inch off the pegs?

It should be by the ref's descretion...If the net barely moved and made no difference at all...then the ref should say its a goal.

Technically, the refs have the perogative to allow the goal by current rules. The only reason a goal should be called off is because either (a) the defensive player was pushed into the net, or (b) because an offensive player pushed it off for whatever reason. In the case of a defensive player accidentally pushing it off, they can either call a penalty or allow the goal. Most of the time, they allow the goal, but this time, for some reason, they did neither. I guess the replay official said that the defender was pushed in, which on replay at the Tank was a bad call. Officials are human, too. Mistakes happen.
