Nov 13 GDT: Kings v. Leafs

David A. Rainer

Kings play Toronto tonight at 7:30PM PST and can be seen on FSW.

First time that Toronto has been to Staples Center, ever.

My bold prediction: Toronto teaches the Kings a lesson in their own building. Come strong or don't come at all. Both Allison and Deader were set to make their triumphant returns, but got lost in the parking lot. Toronto comes out fighting and Darcy Tucker jumps into the stands to beat up a couple of fans and ushers. Not to be denied, several fans from the top deck jump down and onto Tucker, flattening him and taking him out of the game. It retaliation, Avery jumps some Leafs fans in the stands, but as it turns out, they were just Ducks fans in disguise. Oh well, just as good. Cechmanek and Belfour get into a fight as Cechmanek was in possession of naked pictures of Belfour's wife. Both goalies get ejected and Matty Norstrom is forced to play goalie as Huet was off getting a hotdog and $8 beer. Tie Domi gets an idea and the rest of the Leafs crown him king. Meanwhile, Tomas Kaberle and Owen Nolan score 4 goals apiece (because I've got them in my Yahoo Hockey League). In a slug-fest: Toronto 9, Kings 1.

Welcome back to LA...

My original prediction... Kings win 2-1

Kings goals- Belanger, Modry
Leafs goal- Reichel

In other words... we put a stranglehold on the pacific division after tonights win.

My new prediction... Kings win 5-3

Kings goals- Belanger, Klatt, Modry, Lubo, Frolov
Leafs goals- Reichel, Sundin, Mogilny

There i changed it...

One of two things gonna happen tonight. The Leaf's stank up the place last night losing 5-1 to Anaheim of all teams. Last time they got embarrassed by Philly Toronto came out strong and dominated the next few games, which I'm hoping will be the end result again. "OR" the play of last night continues over with the time difference and travel taking their dues and LA simply whomps Toronto. Either way, I don't predict it'll be a 1-0 or 2-1 snoozefest. BTW, we've got Telqvist in goal tonight according to the most recent reports.

LOL DFA!!! Cechmanek with naked pictures of Belfour's wife? hahaha!

I'm going to predict another tie... 2-2...

I'm hoping this is the game Dustin Brown gets that first goal. Come on, Brownie!!!!!!!!!! You can do it!

I hope we escape this game with NO more injuries.

Who wanted to trade him? I was pretty sure most fans DON'T want him traded. As a long time Kings fan I am tired of seeing our best young players traded away. It would be hard to stay a King fan if Frolov is traded for anything less than a Forsberg-type player.

Wow, if he hasn't proven himself by now I wonder what our expectations of him truly are. He is +9 on a team that plays a defencive style (team leading) and he has 6 goals (tied for team lead) and 4 assists while playing very little (averaging a mere 41 seconds per game of PP time) pp time and being used on our checking or energy line. He sure has been great last year but even better so far this one.

Way to go Kings and way to go Frolov.

Kings must continue to play in the Leafs' zone.

I perfectly agree with your position on this one Lucky. I did see us leave a three goal lead earlier this season on the ice and wouldn't like to see that one again as long as I live. You know that the Leafs will be very angry and determined, buckle up, this one will be a corker for certain!

Cechmanek always was a slow starter even with Philly.
I'm a Cujo fan, but IMHO I'd say stick it on with Cechmanek, despite his unorthodox style he gets the job done.

His statistics from past seasons prove that, and Philly's D alone most definitely wasnt the sole reason for his stellar stats.

Again, total disgrace for the Kings. I don't care what you have to do, but you do not give up a three goal lead in the third.

Good game for the Leafs, especially after being beaten 5-1 by the Ducks the night before. Andy needs to show the Kings the tape of the Ducks holding a third period lead. Roman needs to shake off his "slow" start and start proving that the Flyers made a mistake. He still only has one strong game and that was against the Flyers.

The Kings need to generate a road mentality here at home. I know Dustin didn't get a point tonight, but he was making some great decisions out there. Chipping the puck off the boards and finishing his checks. I really think he is going to be a great player.

A wasted effort for Frolov, if only the rest of the Kings showed is tenacity tonight. At least they didn't lose the game. :dunno:

Man, this sucks. Kings let the game go away, but I'll credit that to the Leafs. They played an all around good game. Kings were lucky to even get a point.

I'm thrilled for Frolov though. He got 2 goals tonight. He looked very good, he was all over the place and assisted on a sweet give and go with Army. Great game, Fro! Show those critics that you are the real deal... he needs to have more games like this...lol.

wow, that's quite a compliment. awesome.

i'd like to be able to say that kings are finding ways to win games, but unfortunately it's not that good; they are, however, finding ways to at least get a point, and that's not too bad. sure the need to tighten up in the third exists, but the few extra points we're picking up now are going to be huge at crunch time.

cechmanek was really inconsistant tonight. some of his best saves all season came early on, and he kept us in the game in the first period. on those goals, however, he was really out to lunch.

frolov was brilliant tonight. and he's on kings talk right now and he's kicking ass in a second language.

After the Leafs scored to make it 4-2, who here really believed that the Kings were going to hang on? After that goal I knew that the Kings would at least give up the next two. I was hoping they could pull it off in OT, but when Norstrom took that holding penalty, I knew it was a tie game.

When are the Kings going to get their PK working? They are just being out worked and Murray has already said that the Kings can't make any mistakes. How soon before this team starts to play scared in front of Cechmanek? Right now, every time they make a defensive mistake, it is in the back of the net. So far, this is looking like Potvin of last year all over again. Should Huet get more starts?

Should Huet get more starts?

After tonight's game, and the fact he hasn't played in a while, I'd be willing to bet he'll be in there Saturday.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Cechmanek is consistently grossly out of position. And something else I noticed tonight, he has a very hard time picking up where deflections/rebounds are going. So not only is he out of position, he looks confused. Not a good combo!

Well after the kings scored to make it 4-1 I was thinking "oh no not AGAIN!" But smartly I decided to stay up and I'm glad that I did! The leafs really battled back and got a much deserved point. By the way Cechmanek did good stopping the puck in the first two periods(I was getting pissed at him lol). The third period was different but you can't totally blame him. The leafs were really determined to come back and they did! Good effort by both teams! :handclap: Even though the leafs didn't win the point was still good!

Apparently the Canucks paid some 'fashion designer' big bucks to make those.

Money well spent :p

WOAH... now THAT is ugly.

Did these make NHL2Nite's top 10 worst looking uniforms? If not, how are the Kings' forum blue and golds worst than these?

I have no sympathy for you traitor....... :handclap:
I wouldn't want your sympathy for I show none to the Leafs......I wouldn't say traitor......my second favorite team is the Sens......if your leafs are lucky enough to win the 8th spot in the East, then I'll return the "no sympathy" favour to you when the leafs go down in 4 to the Sens

You're STILL a traitor since most people that live in Barrie hate the Sens. I don't need YOUR sympathy either since the leafs ALWAYS beat the Sens in the playoffs anyway so take that! :joker: Great comeback last night by the way :handclap:

 How would you know if people in Barrie hate the Sens? Why would they? They're the only team in Ontario that has a chance to win the cup that much is for sure. The Sens teams in the past aren't even close to the Sens of today.....These Sens took care of the team that took care of the Leafs. As for myself, I'd rather cheer for the Ontario team that is younger/more skilled/better managed/and who actually have players on their team that they drafted. Your right.....good comeback last night :rolly:, too bad the leafs couldn't do it the night before when the ducks beat them 5-1 or maybe when Philly beat them 7-1....

As the saying go.....HELL FREEZES OVER.......LEAFS WIN THE CUP :joker:

They were #1

They were #1
...and rightfully so.

Personally, I liked the purple and golds. The purple or forum blue was nice... I guess these days, it would be the home jersey. I didn't like the all yellow ones. The "home" jerseys were much nicer.

The old homies should have had white bodies with gold and purple trim, they were still much better than the previous unis. The goldies were not well thought out, and certainly did little to make the guys feel more "manly". Loved the crown.

The guy who looked best in the team Burger King jerseys was the Tiger. He probably would have been the all-time penalty leader even if he had to play in pink. There were some pretty decent players on tBK Smyll, Brodeur, Sneps (Harrrrrooold!), saw a coupla barn burners at the forum. Lottsa flying yellow, black, red and purple. Geez it sounds like I was sittin in the cheaps with Timothy Leary.
