Armando Benitez...

Is arguably the most hated player in Mets history, is he not? Well I would venture to say that he's the most hated player in the storied history of the NY/SF Giants as well. Giants fans are amazingly loyal to their players, you will ALMOST NEVER hear a Giant getting booed, or even former Giant, unless they defect to the Dodgers.

Jeff Kent was an *******, but he was the ultimate Giant. Great protection for Bonds, great intensity (the fight with Bonds is perfect as an example).

Benitez is an ******* who blames his team for blowing saves, don't even get me started on his pitching.

He stunk here, yes, but I wouldn't call him the most hated.

Armando Benitez drove me insane while he was on the Mets,but I wouldn't call him the most hated.For me,it would have to be Mel Rojas.There's a blast from the past,eh?

He strikes again. This is amazing.

As a die-hard Mets fan, I would say Benitez is the player I hate the most EVER. Having said that, it also needs to be said that I was born in the late-80s, after the World Series in '86, and so I was never old enough to hate any player before the late-90s. Braden BLooper is also high-up on my list of most hated.

benitez is definitely up there, but i wouldn't put him in the top 5 most hated giants just yet. however, the season isn't over....

5. jack clark (no one liked candlestick, but no one complained about it as much)
4. orel hershiser (didn't do anything "wrong," but he is possibly the most hated recent dodger, and he put on the orange and black)
3. johnnie lemaster (made jose uribe look like a-rod)
2. bobby mercer (for bobby bonds??)
1. double-play j pierzynski (at least the giants didn't give much up for him, and at least he didn't go on to better things after he left)

giants fans are very forgiving and usually give the benefit of the doubt, but once you cross that line, it's over. i'm sure the most hated players cry themselves to sleep every night because of that, most likely on a mound of money.
