I still don't understand why the Avs are not telling the truth about it if it is not that serious.

Same thing with Adam Foote.

Man...abdominal injury. I pray it's not anything like the abdominal injuries that Lemieux and Hejduk suffered. Those basically destroyed their seasons.

Swedish newspaper rumors are the likely worst sorce of reliable information that there is. As far as I'm concerned, it could still be more serious that others are indicating. I wouldn't believe a word of that article.

abdominal injuries are soo iffy and sensitive. Could blow a whole season or just a couple of weeks.

Well the Aftonbladet has been fairly reliable when it comes to Forsberg news, they've broken news stories about him ahead of the North American Media in the past.

The Aftonbladet did have Kent Forsberg's statement about Peter's injury being related to the abdomen rather than groin close to two weeks ago.

But I don't about the reliability of his so called "best friend".

One concern about the injury is that they had him see a specialist on the current roadtrip and he supposedly had additional tests during the last five game stretch he missed. It seems as if the Avs' trainers or medical staff may not be entirely sure about the injury.

Henrik Gradin picked Peter up from training camp and drove him to Ornskoldsvik when he took his leave of absence from hockey, so they are at least friends. It was in ESPN the magazine.

I doubt that Aftonbladet would put words in two people's mouths, so that would mean it's not that serious. But at the same time, Claude Lemieux thought for weeks that his abdominal injury wasn't serious and then ended up needing surgery and missed a significant amount of time.

I just read the ESPN article again because it' been a while and if the facts in the article are true then I would say that Gradin is his best friend.

As far as I'm concerned, if there is any slight possibility he needs the surgery; have him do it now and be done with it. The worst thing is to have this linger and than have him miss even more time. Sakic seems to be picking up his game, and for whatever reason, when either Forsberg or Sakic goes down for some time, the other seems to pick up their game significantly.

Yeah that is the thing with abdominal injuries, they may think it isn't serious but who knows how his body will respond.

Another case in point, after Hejduk injured his abdominal muscle in early March of 2002, I recall that at first they didn't think that would be too serious. But he ended up missing the last month of the season, and he played at only 75% in the playoffs. Hejduk's body simply didn't respond to the time off.

It must be a tricky thing medically, because these abdominal injuries seem difficult to put a diagnosis on.

Great players tend to do that.

I tend to agree, but based on past precedent, I'm sure he would have to sit for 3-4 weeks at least before they make that decision. With abdominal injuries, they always seem to wait a significant amount of time before deciding on surgery.

Henrik Graden IS his best friend. They talk to eachother every day. I'd say he is more than reliable. He says it's not that serious, so all we can do is hope.

COME ON PETER!!! GET OFF YOUR HOSPITAL BED!! WE NEED YOU!!!!
