I saw him play against the T-Birds

peculiar stuff.

Oh yea, he played alright, didn't create alot offensively and got his teeth handed to him in a doggy-bag by #2 of the Giants...not sure on his name...

Aaron,

I would be interested in your assessment of Goertzen. I thought he was one of the more promising prospects at camp this year. I don't think he will be much of a scorer, but he can skate and seemed to be strong on the boards and in the corners. He is the type of player that makes those around him better. Unfortunately his Thunderbirds don't seem to have the skill players that could benefit from his skills.

Each seems to produce their own type of talent.

QMJHL: Goalies
OHL: Forwards
WHL: Defensemen

People consider the QMJHL less skilled. Personally, if I was ranking them in terms of this, I'd probably put the OHL first, WHL second, and QMJHL third.

I dont know how fair it is to rank them, considering hockey in the Q is going to be somewhat of a different style than that of the Western League.

Now, back to Steve.

He's a guy you want on your team. He's an assistant captain in Seattle, and it's no secret why.

Goertzen is the ultimate role player for Seattle. He was out there killing every penalty, he was out there for every powerplay. He was in the penalty box after someone ran his goalie, and he was on the ice with 20 seconds left protecting a one goal lead.

He certainly isn't anything flashy, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I think he's a step or two behind in his anticipation of where the puck is going to be, but works hard to get where he needs to be.

Always backchecking, always forechecking. Always finishing his hits. Was never really caught out of position, and if he was, it was because he was covering another hole left open by a teammate.

Goertzen doesn't have a lot of offensive potential. From the looks of things he was playing the wing on the top two lines, but his offense isn't really something that anyone would drool over. He isn't overly fast either, from the looks of things, but since he's always moving his legs, it is hidden somewhat.

Goertzen will do anything for the club, definitely not a selfish guy. I wouldn't look too much into his stats so far this season, as he's even gone so far as to play defense in a few games this season.

Any other questions?
