the New York Mets are now THE BEST TEAM IN BASEBALL,
thank you very much

The New York Mets play in the National League, which when compared to the American League- should simply be called the Minor Leagues. The Mets are a very good team- and should be in the World Series. But if they were in the AL East, instead of the NL East- they would be struggling greatly. A good team, but you Mets fans have made then out to be the '98 Yanks. And you certainly better hope we don't have another Subway Series on our hands. Because 2000 was a humbling experience for Mets fans like yourselves!

Great records don't always equal titles (case in point, Seattle a few years ago).
They are, however, a very good team playing in a slightly watered down division/league. Interesting to see how the playoffs/series go for them.
Good luck the rest of the way (except when you eventually face the Yankees...;) )

As a Yankee fan, I hope you win the division by 20 games. Whatever it takes to keep the Angels out. We're a little snakebit against them.

I doubt the Angels are going to the playoffs this season, so I wouldn't worry about that.

And your basing this on exactly what?

I'm tired of hearing that if the Mets were in the AL they would be a struggling team or wouldn't be as good as they are now, that's just total BS man.

I dont know about that. The only thing we can base this off of is their record in interleague play this year. They were 6-9. I know its a small sample, but its still something, and not exactly a stellar indication that they would have as much success in the AL as they have had in the NL.

No it doesn't, I mean if were basing how good teams are compared to AL teams on how they did inter-league play then that would mean that the Rockies would thrive in the AL because they went 11-4 against AL opponents.

Even so the Mets are running away with their division - even so it very well might be the worst in Majors - they are still not letting up in their play like good teams are expected not to do.

The Mets are a very good team, but they wouldn't be running away with anything in the AL. I can't think of anywhere you could put the Mets in the AL where they would run away with anything. In fact, it is possible they could miss the playoffs if they got a few bad breaks.

That's the tone that I get from your post. I think the Mets are a good team, probably the best team in baseball imo, but playing against such weak competetion day in and day out makes it difficult to gauge.

I actually didn't get that impression from his post. I tend to agree with him though, saying that the Mets would struggle mightly in the AL is just ridiculous.

The Mets have the lineup in the National League that is most like an American League lineup, excluding the pitcher hitting instead of a DH. The Mets did struggle against AL teams during the season though, going 6-9.
