Mannheim wins 3-0 btw. I saw the game on Premiere. Not very spectacular but it was the 1st game of the season so you couldn´t expect much more

Not very spectacular but very depressing at the end. If Taylor scored on the break away the 1st period - well you know but with the start of the second the game was lost. Gordon was outstanding in the first, NHL goaltending eh ?!? but how lousy open the Lions were defending the wings ... it was just a matter of time until they score.

So resume:

The Eagles were unexpected good yesterday - especially their D

Ulmer is just worth the half playing without Lebeau

Wheres was Kelly ??! (Why can't he play simple sometimes ?!)

Smrek will be a great Dman for us this season (big strong, can skate, good first pass)

Where was Kelly ?!?

The shot blocking was huge the first two periods

Please god let us win on sunday vs. the Duesseldorf blasters from Iserlohn

and of course .. MANNHEIM S|_|CKS !!

:D

I think the chances of beating Düsseldorf are pretty high, Stephens got a GM, according to their website Brown is suspended as well (although I don't know why), and Kreutzer and Panzer are injured and might not play.

I was at the game. It was definately not a high class game but very entertaining. Both teams had bad flaws in their defense but Frankfurt more so.

Kink has gotta be the slowest pro player ever. In the first period he was all alone on a breakaway and THREE defensemen caught up with him.

Methot played the best game IMO. He was dynamic, and one of the only players that were able to play one on one and play a pass that actually hit the target.

Sloan played a very solid game. Very good defensive effort.

Mannheim could have won even higher if someone was able to hit the net or someone was able to play a pass.
Powerplay was weak on both sides.

Well, just the beginning of the season.

In the third Corbet finally appeared (assisted on a beautiful goal for Arendt).

The longer the game went, the worse Frankfurt got, plain horrible. But to be honest, Mannheim didn`t play great either.

Go Adler!!

Sounds like a terrible beginning of the season and a fairly lame game to watch. I hope it's out of their system now and are ready to play Dusseldorf tomorrow.

You haven't seen Kelly losing the puck with a simple move at middle ice before the Adler scored the 2-0, have you? :dunno:

Most impressive about the game was the first fight I've seen on DEL-ice, since a long time. :yo:
Unfortunately, the referee decided to penalize Bassen and Jaspers with a game misconduct, although the league decided to lower the penalty in such cases to 2+2+10 PIM just one day before. :banghead:

Actually it was the second fight I saw. Brad Tapper and Paul Manning were getting on it two seasons ago in a Premiere game.

No, thats not the issue. Its his play in the offensive zone when he has the opportunity to play the puck deep instead of turning towrds the blue line and lossing it there .. I hate it. And he's done that last year also over and over again

Obviously Hackert and Danner didn't do much either huh? Did anyone play a decent game yesterday?

I know way to good, what you mean. *sigh*
He is capable of rocking the DEL in every respect, but in fact he's just playing like a prima ballerina. :dunno:

But I intended to "appreciate" Kelly's most evident action in yesterdays game, that it won't fall in oblivion. ;)

Gordon performed very well. Game would have been decided after the first period without his strong saves. He was definitely the best Lion on ice.
Furthermore the young guns Wörle and Bassen played a decent game, seeing ice-time even shorthanded.
