Just doesnt have that same sizzle or "rivalry" type feel without Kariya in the Avs lineup. Should still be a good game nonetheless. Ducks have to find a way to contain Hejduk-Sakic-Tanguay as well as Selanne and Konowalchuk. Giguere needs to steal this game for us. I see Feds having a big game as he used to do against Colorado when he was in Detroit. No score predictions from me, just hoping for another win.

well we have a lot to shoot for in this game..
this game with a win will push us over the .500 mark..

That was a trip, but a VERY WEAK call. Blake almost put one in his own net for us. Seems to be an even game from what I've seen (I missed the first 10 minutes). Chistov just got blasted at the blue line in the defensive zone even though he was a good 4 feet from the puck and hadn't even touched it. Call a f-ing penalty on the Dives. This is rediculous.

No *****. Its nice he has moves but he just won't SHOOT. The puck was unsettled because he has some pathological urge to stickhandle 47 times before shooting.

The puck was rolling on him.. although sometimes it's better to shoot with the rolling puck.

It'll be absolute larceny if we win this game.

Got out of the second without giving one up. Very lucky. Thankfully the Avs don't appear to be in prime form, either.

Chistov is going to be a great player...but as an Avs fan, other than Feds, Andy Mac is scaring me more than anyone with the puck on his stick in the Avs offensive zone. He doesn't dominate every single minute he is on the ice like a superstar but he has the skills to really put a scare into a defenseman at any given point in time with his agility and puck control. Glad he's back to health, hopefully he can put together a near-full season and really show how good he is (except tonight :). I've always thought he could be a 60 point player who excels on special teams.

Horrible game by the Ducks. The guys were so sloppy and lackadasical tonight. Another OT loss sucks but keeps us alive. We got to take the game to Dallas tomorrow. Oh well, I got to study.

Giguere played AWESOME this game and is the reason the Ducks even got to OT. Prospal was clutch like he was in Tampa tying this game up. Chistov and Havlid lost the two people involved in the OT and both had crappy games. We had chances to win this game but by the way the Avs were playing it shouldnt have been close except for Giguere. Refs were horrible for both sides, Ducks should have been on the PK after Salei's holding but if theyre not gonna call it go ahead and do it. A point is better than no points.

Jiggy sounded awesome this game. 2 on 40 shots, incredible. Should've been 1st star, but I think Dater picked Foote.

BTW, we may be 3 games ahead of the Queens, but we're currently FIRST place in the Pacific.

Jiggy played great, we shouldnt be expected to win, when the shots are 40-25. Chistov needs to shoot more and he will be alot better.

Bench Havelid's a$$. he plain sucked. he looked really nervous when the puck was near him. sit him a game, maybe that will send him a message. it did for chistov, Lupul, and especially vish. If we trade him before Simpson, BM must be high or something. Vish played good IMO, Simpson lost the puck every time he looked up, and couldnt clear the puck at all. So trade him instead of Vish. Vish probably played better then any other defensmen, except for maybe Carney. and Selanne was Havelid's guy.

I'm a little more calm now.

The positives:
A point out of a game we didn't deserve.
The old Ducks would have folded after that late goal, or wouldn't have had the offensive wherewithal to come back.
We held their big lines to only a few chances.
Giguere was god in this game.

The negatives:
Ouch. The defense looked like it did in the first 5 games. Turnovers left and right.

The refs weren't that bad but they let the Avs get away with alot of **** the dive by Sakic is a joke he wasn't even dragged down.

Havelid needs to sit he had WAY too many turnovers.

Jiggy was on top of his game its a shame the team in front of him (Carney,Vish,Salei,Fedorov,McDonald not included) played like garbage I'm still pissed at Havelid for not laying the body on Selanne.

I don't see *once* where I claimed to know-it-all or even tried to defend Joe Sakic's dive tonight. Don't put words in my mouth; it destroys whatever little credibility you had to begin with.

Attacking credibility.. that's played out also. You never claimed to know it all but it's the general arrogance of Av's fans that annoys people. Do you notice how everyone seems to hate Av's fans more than most other teams fans? It's not because your team has been successful, it's because for the most part they're a bunch of a-holes who are the know it all types.

The fact is though that in calling two penalties, the referees overlooked a lot of crap that was going on, and in my opinion the Avalanche were getting away with murder out there with interference, hooking and that great dive by Sakic.

I can't speak for Kings fans because I'm not too fond of them myself for the most part. You know as well as I do.. there are tolerable fans from every team and there are annoying mf's from every team also.

I will say though that on this board we pretty much call a spade a spade. Everyone knows that league officiating sucks but we don't normally blame it on refereeing. You work to get your own breaks and you can't use officiating as an excuse for the loss and the officiating isn't why the Ducks lost tonight. The Ducks lost because they turned the puck over too much and because Havelid couldn't pick up his man in front of the net.

That being said, I think the officiating was even worse than normal tonight.

wow do Dives fans hate the truth or what? What would be funnier is if you claimed sakic didn't take a dive and that Blake did a nice job of playing against Fedorov...especially on the PP.

I had come over to your board to say what a great game it was, and I see this huge b!tch thread. Its pretty sad to see 10+ comments all whining about aves this and that, when the ducks clutch and grab just as much as the aves. I totally agree about the sakic dive, and I was sad to see it. However, I don't blame the refs or think they're showing favoritism. It was a pretty convincing dive by joe, and I wouldn't have caught it if they didn't replay it, he kept his legs moving and fell at the right moment without looking like he collapsed. As someone else in the thread said, the ducks got outworked and outplayed badly.

This is one of the few dux games I get to watch, was this the team that has been winning games lately, we seemed to be afraid to hold onto the puck, everytime someone got it they threw it away as though a freight train were coming when most of the time a hit wasnt imminent for at least 3 or 4 seconds.

As for the refs. I think the call on Lyle(?) was a lucky call for us, didnt really see what he got called for, and clutching and grabbin was equal on both sides.

Jiggys back, Vish played great again. For a second there I thought Cheese was back when he made that cutback play but then he brainfarted again and decided to take an age to do something.

I agree with the guy who said the ducks of old would never have come back after that Foote goal.

ESPN only replayed the grainy refcam feed. Liles shoved Ward and put a good check on him, but as he swung around to finish it his stick came up and over. It was textbook highsticking.

i saw the last 5 minutes of the game and OT.. my dad said the Ducks played like crap and were lucky to get that 1 goal... that being said, i hope that our guys turn it up on Dec 19 for a rematch...

Colorado was better. We should be glad for this point. Giguere was great though. He made some amazing saves then they take the lead on a crappy Foote Goal. Nice play by Sykora and finish by Prospal. I can't get mad about losing in 4 on 4 overtime. Theres definetly no need for a shootout like some people bring up, because these 4 on 4 overtimes seem to end with a winner 75% of the time now.

I dont think anyone is blaming officials for the loss, but at how badly it was in last nights game. The officiating was horrendous. Do you think the officiating was ok when Salei was holding Konowalchuk in front of the net negating a scoring chance? Do you think it was a good call on the Sakic trip? Do you think its ok for Hejduk to be hooked like he was by Salei or when an Avs player does the same to keep a Ducks player away from the puck? Officiating was BRUTAL in last nights game but in no way was it the reason for the Ducks loss.
