cheesymc 11-21-2003, 10:53 AM Anyone know how he is recovering from knee surgery? I hope hes at least weight lifting and working his upper body, since we really need some grinders up front with his skill level.
Also, does anyone like Bates Battaglia? Im just wondering since I would like his size on the ducks team and since he was a former duck prospect.
I think he can be had cheaply since hes isnt doing well as a Cap (17 games and just one assist and a -9).... maybe for Sauer since they need dmen?
Once Leclerc comes back in a few weeks what would the lines look like?
Chistov Andy Fed
Prospal Sami Sykora
Lupol Ruch Neid
Ward Krog Leclerc
bench: Johnson, Burnett
IR: Bylsma
Now this would be some decent depth!!! I dont even know where you can add a guy like Bates unless Lupol regresses as the season goes along.
Spankatola Jamnuts* 11-21-2003, 10:58 AM Once Leclerc's been eased into the lineup I'd like to see
Chistov-Fedorov-Leclerc
Nieds-Rucchin-Lupul
Prospal-McDonald-Sykora
Pahlsson-Krog-Ward
McDonald finsihes the chances that Pahlsson blows, and creates his own, making the 3rd line that much more effective. Pahlsson and Krog are both reliable players and I think we'd actually see our 4th line get decent mileage.
soya_sauce_chicken 11-21-2003, 10:58 AM i believe he is supposed to be back in december...
i think they willkeep the 1st line as is since it's been pretty good..
prospal/rucchin/sykora
leclerc/phallson/lupul
Kevin Forbes 11-21-2003, 10:59 AM I don't think we'll have Leclerc on the 4th line, He'll probably take his usual spot with Rucchin and Niedermayer, as for Battaglia, he is nothing special, just a third liner and I don't think we'll have room for him. Fedorov on the wing?
This is how I see the lineup after Leclerc and Bylsma come back (Bylsma is due back before Leclerc I thought)
Chistov - Fedorov - Sykora
Prospal - McDonald - Lupul
Niedermayer - Rucchin - Leclerc
Pahlsson/Johnson - Krog/Pahlsson - Bylsma/Burnett
Ward would go back to being a Defenceman maybe, or Johnson or Bylsma would be traded,
Spankatola Jamnuts* 11-21-2003, 11:16 AM I think its very unwise to separate the moody, streaky Sykora from a person he's developing chemistry with.
Kevin Forbes 11-21-2003, 11:22 AM :dunno:
I was trying to bump Pahlsson down to the 4th line and get Leclerc with Rucchin and Niedermayer...
I'd like to see
Prospal Feds Sykora
Nieds Rucchin Lupul
Chistov McDonald Leclerc
Krog Pahlsson Ward
Spankatola Jamnuts* 11-21-2003, 12:31 PM That's fine, too. It keeps the groups who have developed chemistry already together (Prospal/Sykora and Rucchin/Lupul) and hopefully could provide a spark for Fedorov, who hasn't found chemistry with anybody.
Duckstudd269 11-21-2003, 12:43 PM Once Leclerc's been eased into the lineup I'd like to see

IMO, these lines would be the best. switchin Lupul and Leclerc wouldnt bother me tho. altho i think Mike would be good to be the grinder in the corners for feds and chistov.
cheesymc 11-21-2003, 02:57 PM I think they just need to make the playoffs, then they will do better. For now they will get punked around, and for a finesse team, then need to start to score more goals.
Jerky Leclerc 11-22-2003, 05:29 AM Can anyone remember the days of having Travis Green & Josef Marha on Ducks 2nd line?
My pyschiatrist told me I have repressed those bad memories.
Snap Wilson 11-22-2003, 09:24 AM Hey, I remember Marha and Frank Banham(!) actually doing quite well at the end of that year. Then Hartsy came aboard and discovered that neither of them would play a lick of defense.
Spankatola Jamnuts* 11-22-2003, 09:29 AM Banham didn't even make the team the next fall.
Snap Wilson 11-23-2003, 09:46 AM I think it was some training camp where Marha-Cullen-Banham played very well and management went on record saying that they expect them to form the 2nd line who could finally offer some support to K-R-S line. Oh well, I thought Mike Crowley would break-out that year and take Olausson's role, how wrong I was...
Then again, that was also the year I finally realized that Dmitri Mironov sucks big time.
It wasn't training camp, it was the tail end of the '97-98 season. Marha had 7 goals and 11 points in 12 games, Banham had 9 goals in 21 games. That was the year of Mr. Bug Eyes, Pierre Page. Hartsburg came in and as Booger says, Banham didn't even make the team the following season and Marha only played 10 games before being dealt to the Blackhawks.
Re: Mironov, one of those years I went to a game with some friends who spoke Russian, and I had them feeding me instructions that I could yell at Tree. I know he heard me, because he kept looking over to see who was doing the yelling. I won't say it had an impact, but it was one of the best games I ever saw him play in the defensive zone...

wow thats a little trippy thats exactly my lineup for nhl 2004... lol
I'm worried about the 3rd line not having a physical presence, so I'd be tempted switch pahlson and macdonald.

and like CFOB said.. IM worred about phalsson blowing all the chances. andymac is playing good on the 1st line. he has the talent to be there, the 4th line gets what? 7 minutes a game? dont waste him there.
