The Padres gave Bochy permission to speak with other teams. Most had him linked to the Cubs, but that seems to be out the window now.

They should just hire the computer that wrote Moneyball :sarcasm:

I agree, Washington deserves a legitimate chance for a job. Before he becomes the new Willie Randolph (teams stop taking him seriously because he becomes the token minority candidate.)

yeah, but last time i checked, the Red Sox players have not come out and publicly bashed Francona like the players have Macha...that was a major reason he was fired, along with the fact that he's a horrible in game manager.

So far the A's are going to meet with Washington, Bob Geren the bench coach and other candidates are Larry Bowa, Bud Black and Orel Hershiser (according to the SF Chron at least)

Washington, Black or Hershiser would all be great in Oakland. I don't really know about Geren, but Bowa?
