I havent seen him in any games yet this year, but ever since he got called back up from San Antonio, I have seen his name in most Florida box scores. Is he getting quality minutes? Is he playing on a top-2 line? How is his progression?

He's been playing well...He seems to be using his speed a lot better than last year to create a lot of chances. He's also showing how great of a playmaker he can be with some gorgeous passes. He got a gimme goal today, but he deserves it. He's easily been the most improved player from last year with Bure.

Pretty much, if he continues to play like he has, he's solidified himself as the #2 center in FL. He shoots the puck more confidently than last yr and is really playing a complete game. The funny thing is I don't even think he's hit his stride yet. If hockey is played next yr, that would be my guess as when he's really living up to his full potential.

Great game tonight by Weiss with the GWG in OT and an assist on the powerplay. He has 4 goals and 4 assists in 9 games. 24:12 of icetime tonight. Only thing he needs to do a lot better is faceoffs right now.

Someone offered me something small in my fantasy league two weeks ago for Weiss. Thank God I didn't trade him.
He has really looked good out there over the last two weeks. Definately stronger on his fet and a lot of confidence. He has been playing around 30 minutes a game. His linemates are Huselius and Bure. The line is really effective. If he keeps playing like this then I'm sorry to say, but I don't think he will be Florida's #2 centre. Try #1.

He's a complete player doing it in both ends of the rink. And to think, when the whole Comrie for Weiss deal was discussed, Oiler fans didn't think Weiss was enough and wanted a d-man like Mezei.

Good to see. When he was drafted I was excited to see him play (mainly the Yzerman comparisons). After a couple years with no NHL experience I started to wonder if he would ever pan out... good to see he is progressing. Hopefully it lasts; from the sounds of it, this call up should be permanent.

I also have him in my keeper league, so all the more reason for me to root for him. ;) I called him up from the minors a week ago and haven't regretted it since.

I am glad he has stepped up. That little stint with the Rampage helped and since he went down there with a mature manner he has grown and has helped himself to a great start with the Panthers. A+ :handclap:

Let me ask you guys this....

Who wants Lupul instead of Weiss now???

I sure don't and never did, I always thought weiss would put up someone points sooner or later.

I always wanted Wiess over Lupul. It's just so nice to see him doing so well with Keenan now gone!

Maybe this trend will continue for Taticek!!!

Don't count on it with Taticek. Weiss actually produced in Juniors. Taticek is a very hard worker but has been dubbed lazy in SSM. He is not outstandingly fast, but is good at faceoffs. He does not have the scoring ability Weiss has and he does not shoot the puck in the minors.

Lupul? Lupul was drafted in 2002 wasn't he? Weiss was a 2001 pick....The other guys that they were considering was Mike Komisarek and Alex Svitov and I was all for the Weiss pick. Svitov was already taken, and they chose Weiss over Komisarek.

I said it before the draft, right after he was picked and I'll say it again...Taticek was a god awful pick at the #9 hole. The best case scenerio is he becomes a good defensive 3rd line center in the Niko Kapanen mold. 12 goals in 54 games in the OHL? That's downright pitiful. I was begging for Anton Babchuk, Jiri Hudler or Pierre-Marc Bouchard at the draft and all three look like better prospects than Taticek at this point(especially Bouchard)

I was actually hoping we would just trade the pick for other prospects. I think we actually moved up 1 spot in a trade with the Flames to get Taticek if I am not mistaken?

yeah your right we moved up from 10 to 9 in the draft to pick Taticek, we had the 10th pick from the Pavel Bure trade if I'm not mistaken.

After the 8th pick, there are like 2 players in the first round that look decent to me (Eminger & Babchuk). The 2002 draft was billed as very top heavy and not deep at all. Basically after the first 7 picks there was suppose to be a significant drop off in talent...and thats basically what the situation was. Hudler, while somewhat talented, was not (and supposedly still isn't) mature and sounded like wouldn't be very mature at any point in his career. He would be a cancer in a locker room from all acounts I've heard. Taticek was pretty much billed as a 3rd line center (with the highest upside as a 2nd liner). FL has such depth at center now that he's going to be lucky to play as a 3rd liner anyhow. Given the way Dudley operates, I think he might trade Taticek as part of a deal at some point.

As a Red Wings fan, I would love to see any link you have to Hudler being a "club house cancer". The reason, as I see it, he was passed over in the draft was because he is 5'9" and not defensively responsible. I havent heard anything about locker-room antics. Actually from what I have read, he was very excited to be playing hockey in NA, no matter where it was (Detroit, or Grand Rapids).

Please send any links that question Hudler's character (not because I dont believe you but because I would be interested to hear other perspectives).
