"Despite being rather quiet so far, I think Scott Parse could have a good shot at it, provided that the Kings utilize Parse's strength (read that put him with compatible teammates that can start/finish a play). Parse is a wonderful player that he can do many different things really well. One of the biggest problems he's having at UNO this season is getting linemates that he fits well with who can finish what he starts and/or can start what he's capable of finishing. He had that with Bill Thomas last season, but BLT has since moved on to the pros with the 'Dogs (Phoenix)".

Not sure if this explains what you're asking for, but it sounds like he has the skill to make it.

Talent Analysis

Parse is a very skilled forward who possesses excellent playmaking abilities. He has good size but needs to bulk up more. He has a great set of hands and possesses very good passing skills. He is a good skater who moves well through traffic and will drive to the net. One of Parse’s greatest attributes is his superb hand-eye coordination. He is player who is quite opportunistic and plays with a great deal of passion. He can deliver some punishing hits as well. He has no trouble finding the net and possesses a good hard low shot. He has the ability to play in any situation, including quarterbacking the power play.


Future

A late round, overaged college player, Parse is a relatively low risk/low reward player. Might develop into a legitimate NHL socring threat, but likely will be not much more than a depth forward.

Parse returns to the University of Nebraska-Omaha as one of the leading contenders for the Hobey and will try to lead his team back to the Frozen Four. By the end of next season, Parse should be skating on the third line in Manchester.

i recall hearing about him that he is a player who does many things well, but nothing great. this makes him an outstanding college player, a decent ahl-er, and a fringe nhl-er. can't recall where i heard that, though.

Parse = Noah Clarke

At worst, he should be a good player for the other Kings prospects to play with in Manchester. Even if he never sticks in the NHL, he may help the development of guys like Lewis, Boyle, Tukonen and Meckler (among others). That would still be good for a 6th-round pick. At best, he may have an ingredient for NHL success that guys like Krog and Clarke don't and end up as a Smolinski; you never know. We'll have to see how he adapts when he turns pro and joins the Monarchs next season.

Yea you read it right. Injuries to UNO left the team short of defensemen on the road Saturday so they had Parse play D. He responded with hat trick and 2 assists and a plus/minus of +5.

FYI, 5 pts weekend for Scott this time.
He played D on friday getting 2 assists.
Tonite he played forward and he had a 3 point effort.

Something that I mentioned to another poster about a week or so ago, is that one of the problems that UNO and in particular Scott, has had this year is getting compatible linemates. One reason why Scott played so well last year and the previous year before that was Bill Thomas. Now that BLT is with Phoenix, the Mavs have had some difficulty finding a nice fit for Scott and vice versa. Bryan Marshall IMO is probably been the best out of what they have now but even Bryan is not complimenting Scott the way BLT did. Is isn't that Bryan or any of the other Mavs aren't good (they actually do have some really good players on that team aside from Scott and Bryan like Alex Nikiforuk and Brandon Scero to name two) but it's a matter of finding a good fit.

Having said all of that, putting Scott on defense was IMO a clever move by head coach Mike Kemp. Scott plays defense very well, has little trouble playing the point on the PP and so on, that making him a "temporary defenseman" seemed to have jump started (for a lack of a better term) Scott's scoring touch again.

And before anyone gets too excited about Scott being moved to defense at the pro level, unless it's in an extreme situation and/or needed in a pinch, I wouldn't count on Scott playing on defense regularly.

Why not? If he's so good at doing it....

Why not? If he's so good at doing it....I think that she just means that playing defense at the college level is different (and, perhaps, easier) than playing defense in the pros. He'll likely need to be his absolute best to make it in the pros, and he seems to fit best at forward, but it's nice to know that there's possibly a backup plan if he can't cut it as a forward in Manchester (and next year's Monarchs might have more good forwards than they know what to do with).
