It has something to do with if you sign a free agent after the waiver draft, then they must clear waivers before they are placed on the roster. Steve Thomas had to clear waiver, which he obviously did (though I heard a few teams were looking to pick him up. I heard Columbus for one) Steve Webb was signed by Pittsburgh, and didn't clear waivers (I believe Philly took him), and now Blake Sloan had to clear waivers, and Dallas took him. I was kinda looking forward to seeing him play, he seemed like a small, but fast and feisty player. Oh well... I guess that rule is to keep teams from waiting to sign a player until after the waiver draft so they don't have to have the player take up a spot on the protected list.
