Bourque7799 01-10-2007, 10:01 AM It was only a matter of time until he was released. I'm just hoping Boston doesn't pick his useless *** up Dr.Funk 01-10-2007, 10:09 AM One more pile of puke for New York. Ar-too 01-10-2007, 10:15 AM Wow. That's a lot of quiche. danno2530 01-10-2007, 11:11 AM Oh please don't do it, Isiah. For the love of God, please don't do it. Ubiquitin 01-10-2007, 11:15 AM He definately has got some game left in him and should be a good contributor to whatever team he ends up with. Ar-too 01-10-2007, 11:27 AM http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=330753 Voice of Reason 01-10-2007, 12:00 PM He definately has got some game left in him and should be a good contributor to whatever team he ends up with. Is that Maui? I swear I smell Maui. What? Sensimilla? Cool, pass it over, that'll work too! Please. Webber's been done for at least 3 years now. Bruinaholic 01-10-2007, 01:34 PM I bet he goes to Detroit where hes from and where theres a void left by Ben Wallace...not that Webber is a defensive Wiz but i think he can play some C,especailly in the East GKJ 01-10-2007, 04:44 PM Webber is going to be given $37M just to get lost...lol took420s 01-10-2007, 06:51 PM I think the he will go to a winning team, not a bottom feeder like Philly was. So... I think I would rule out NY and Boston. Miami seems to be in the hunt for these types of players...but they seem to have figured out that old, rich players are not what they need. I see C-Web going to Detroit, Dallas, San Antonio, or the Lakers. As a Laker fan, I would welcome him so our lineup would look like: C Kwame/Bynum PF Webber/Vlad Rad SF Odom/Walton SG Kobe Pg Smush That is a huge frontline with C-SF able to switch on any big. Phil Jax does not like mid-season trades due to the learning curve of the Tri-offense...but the Kings ran something very similar to the Tri and Webber is a very good passer which is what the Tri demands. Webber for the minimum? Why not try (unintended pun) it? Live in the Now 01-10-2007, 07:57 PM I would not welcome Webber, or any other former Sacramento player from that time frame. Artest is different. took420s 01-11-2007, 11:54 AM Webber told ESPN.com on Wednesday night that 17 of the league's 30 teams have already called to register interest in his services, but the free agent-to-be hopes to sign with one of the following contenders: Miami and his hometown Detroit Pistons in the East; San Antonio, Dallas and the Los Angeles Lakers in the West. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2727137 It then goes on to say that San Antonio does not appear to be interested. Ar-too 01-11-2007, 11:56 AM 17 teams? That's ridiculous. I could see it if he was going to take the minimum, but even after his buyout, I can't see that happening. Bobby Ryan Getzlaf 01-11-2007, 01:48 PM Wouldn't mind adding C-Web to the Mavs if the cost wasn't high. He could end up getting decent minutes playing wherever on forward, and then we could use Croshere as trade bait to get something else. OvechWhoo 01-11-2007, 08:30 PM I think the he will go to a winning team, not a bottom feeder like Philly was. So... I think I would rule out NY and Boston. Webber for the minimum? Why not try (unintended pun) it? That would make the most sense. His hometown of Detroit isn't a bad choice either, if they want him. took420s 01-11-2007, 08:35 PM Webber was just on TNT to deny rumors that he is about to sign with Detroit. IMO he over-emphasized the desire to come to LA by saying how much he would love to play with Kobe and Phil, and mentioning the Lakers first when he gave his wish list. :dunno: *Edit* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SU9w07vtf-4 I think he is waiting to see who can offer him the most minutes. Again, the Lakers are without Kwame and Odom for the rest of the month (Kwame longer) so they can offer webber the starting PF spot for the next 10 games or so and if it works out longer. Teemu 01-11-2007, 10:12 PM I could definitely see him signing with the Bulls - we BADLY need inside scoring. Ar-too 01-12-2007, 12:00 AM What makes you think he can provide that? He's washed up. took420s 01-12-2007, 06:19 PM From ESPN's Daily Dime http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime?page=dailydime_070113-14 LOS ANGELES LAKERS You surely heard Webber in his TNT interview. He barely mentioned the Pistons and sounded more excited about playing for the Lakers than anyone else. Kobe Bryant has already called to make his pitch, sources say, and Webber is admittedly mesmerized by the bright lights of David Beckham's town as well as Jackson's triangle offense. Since Webber can't actually sign with the Pistons or anyone else until Tuesday -- he's restricted to verbal commitments between now and then -- Jackson might have enough time to convince the ex-King that he'd be better off returning to California, scene of his greatest pro successes. The Lakers, furthermore, have a need for Webber now and later, with Lamar Odom and Kwame Brown injured at present and a squad short on playoff experience, Bryant aside, even when their starting big men are healthy. Believe me, if Kobe called Webber like this article says...then the entire Laker Org. wants him in LA. Porn* 01-12-2007, 11:33 PM imho he'd fit in nicely on the raptors :innocent: GKJ 01-13-2007, 08:26 AM He's done took420s 01-13-2007, 02:47 PM He's done I agree that he is done as far as being a #1 option and is obviously way overpaid @ 20 million per. However, on the right team I still think he could be effective because he is still a great passer and can hit those midrange 15 footers. The Lakers problem right now is not scoring its defense, so in that regard I do not see how Webber would help them out much except for a stop-gap until Odom and Kwame come back. Dr.Funk 01-15-2007, 11:59 AM imho he'd fit in nicely on the raptors :innocent: And where would he fit? Dr.Funk 01-15-2007, 12:23 PM Chris Webber told ESPN.com's Marc Stein that he has chosen to sign with the Detroit Pistons and is flying home to spend Martin Luther King Day with family members. He also sent an email to the AP that simply stated "Detroit homie...Detroit!" took420s 01-15-2007, 12:34 PM Phil Jackson would not gurantee him a starting spot so he picked Detroit. Dr.Funk 01-15-2007, 12:40 PM Phil Jackson would not gurantee him a starting spot so he picked Detroit. And he's gonna start in Detroit? kurt 01-15-2007, 02:08 PM And he's gonna start in Detroit? I assume he'd start over Nazr... Dr.Funk 01-15-2007, 02:21 PM I assume he'd start over Nazr... Yeah I just heard they want him to start at center. took420s 01-15-2007, 06:34 PM Look for Eddie Jones to be the next buyout. ...And the EJ to LA rumors will begin immediately thereafter ;) Ar-too 01-15-2007, 07:58 PM Webber starting for Detroit? They must suck pretty bad. kurt 01-15-2007, 08:24 PM Webber starting for Detroit? They must suck pretty bad. Are you kidding? Rip, Chauncey, Tayshaun, 'Sheed, and now C-Webb? This should make them the team to beat in the East. Sure, he's not as mobile as you'd like, but there's always Nazr and MacDyess to take the court if Webber can't handle big minutes. John Flyers Fan 01-15-2007, 10:18 PM Weber can still play, just not close to the level he used to play at. He's still pretty good offensively, and a very good rebounder, his problem is that with his knee he can't play any defense. Ar-too 01-15-2007, 10:55 PM This should make them the team to beat in the East. Webber's a stiff. I'm surprised the Pistons are making this move. I'm surprised he's willing to go there and probably average less than 15 minutes per game. He's not a difference maker. He's not making them the favorites in the East by any stretch of the imagination. kurt 01-16-2007, 03:12 AM Webber's a stiff. I'm surprised the Pistons are making this move. I'm surprised he's willing to go there and probably average less than 15 minutes per game. He's not a difference maker. He's not making them the favorites in the East by any stretch of the imagination. He's not a factor when he's the first option on offense. But with a balanced attack like Detroit's, Webber will definitely get good matchups and contribute. I don't think I'm that crazy to call Detroit an Eastern favourite. Their game is geared for the post season. They win games. GKJ 01-18-2007, 12:37 PM how much is he getting Jaysfanatic* 01-18-2007, 01:00 PM how much is he getting The usual 1.8 million that these ******** get after negotiating a buy out for 30 million bucks. Dr.Funk 01-18-2007, 01:02 PM how much is he getting Veterans minimum, half paid by the Pistons and other half paid by the league. I'm not sure of the exact numbers but it's between 1 and 2 Million. kurt 01-25-2007, 05:20 PM Webber's a stiff. I'm surprised the Pistons are making this move. I wanted to revisit this and bask in a little glory, as the Cavs have slipped and the Piston are now tops in the East. Rumours are swirling that they may make another move as well, possibly shipping Mohammed to Minnesota.
