PF Webber/Vlad Rad
SF Odom/Walton
SG Kobe

That is a huge frontline with C-SF able to switch on any big.

Phil Jax does not like mid-season trades due to the learning curve of the Tri-offense...but the Kings ran something very similar to the Tri and Webber is a very good passer which is what the Tri demands.

17 teams? That's ridiculous. I could see it if he was going to take the minimum, but even after his buyout, I can't see that happening.

Wouldn't mind adding C-Web to the Mavs if the cost wasn't high. He could end up getting decent minutes playing wherever on forward, and then we could use Croshere as trade bait to get something else.

That would make the most sense. His hometown of Detroit isn't a bad choice either, if they want him.

Webber was just on TNT to deny rumors that he is about to sign with Detroit. IMO he over-emphasized the desire to come to LA by saying how much he would love to play with Kobe and Phil, and mentioning the Lakers first when he gave his wish list.

I think he is waiting to see who can offer him the most minutes. Again, the Lakers are without Kwame and Odom for the rest of the month (Kwame longer) so they can offer webber the starting PF spot for the next 10 games or so and if it works out longer.

I could definitely see him signing with the Bulls - we BADLY need inside scoring.

You surely heard Webber in his TNT interview. He barely mentioned the Pistons and sounded more excited about playing for the Lakers than anyone else. Kobe Bryant has already called to make his pitch, sources say, and Webber is admittedly mesmerized by the bright lights of David Beckham's town as well as Jackson's triangle offense.

Since Webber can't actually sign with the Pistons or anyone else until Tuesday -- he's restricted to verbal commitments between now and then -- Jackson might have enough time to convince the ex-King that he'd be better off returning to California, scene of his greatest pro successes.

The Lakers, furthermore, have a need for Webber now and later, with Lamar Odom and Kwame Brown injured at present and a squad short on playoff experience, Bryant aside, even when their starting big men are healthy.

Believe me, if Kobe called Webber like this article says...then the entire Laker Org. wants him in LA.

I agree that he is done as far as being a #1 option and is obviously way overpaid @ 20 million per.

However, on the right team I still think he could be effective because he is still a great passer and can hit those midrange 15 footers. The Lakers problem right now is not scoring its defense, so in that regard I do not see how Webber would help them out much except for a stop-gap until Odom and Kwame come back.

Are you kidding? Rip, Chauncey, Tayshaun, 'Sheed, and now C-Webb? This should make them the team to beat in the East. Sure, he's not as mobile as you'd like, but there's always Nazr and MacDyess to take the court if Webber can't handle big minutes.

Weber can still play, just not close to the level he used to play at.

He's still pretty good offensively, and a very good rebounder, his problem is that with his knee he can't play any defense.

He's not a factor when he's the first option on offense. But with a balanced attack like Detroit's, Webber will definitely get good matchups and contribute.

I don't think I'm that crazy to call Detroit an Eastern favourite. Their game is geared for the post season. They win games.

I wanted to revisit this and bask in a little glory, as the Cavs have slipped and the Piston are now tops in the East. Rumours are swirling that they may make another move as well, possibly shipping Mohammed to Minnesota.
