Stephan Colbert vs. Oshawa Generals

I recently heard that the city of Oshawa was angry at Stephan Colbert. Does any one have any details.

We were playing Saginaw (Stephens team) and a bunch of people threw stuffed bears on the ice (Stephen hates bears) and then Stephen went on the Colbert Report and asked all fans that the next time they play Oshawa to throw the General Motors annual earnings report on the ice.

Pretty funny stuff.

In response, mayor John Gray has proposed a challenge, which Colbert accepted. The Gens and Spirits play on Jan. 24th. If the Spirits win, John Gray will announce May 13th, Colbert's birthday, 'Stephen Colbert Day' in Oshawa. If the Generals win, Colbert will wear an Oshawa Generals jersey for an entire show.

Stephen talked about this on his show tonight and made a slight adjustment to the bet, when the Spirit win Stephen Colbert day in Oshawa will be on the mayor's birthday instead of Colbert's so when the mayor is blowing out his candles his wishes are actually Stephen's.

What a week of hockey in Saginaw this game Friday then a division matchup with the Spits on Saturday night then the All-Star Game and Skills Competition next Tuesday and Wednesday. I have tickets to all of them and I can't wait.

It's going to be great because the OHL will get more exposure in America than the NHL will in the next 5 years.

It's going to be great because the OHL will get more exposure in America than the NHL will in the next 5 years.

It was kind of depressing watching it last night actually. Stephen was like "and now let's talk about America's favorite sport, ice hockey!" and one person in the audience clapped.

I love this though, supposedly the Saginaw Spirit have sold a **** load of team merchandise across the US since Stephen first started talking about the team on the Colbert Report and subsequently, since the team's mascot got the name Steagle Colbeagle the Eagle.

I love it.

Anyways on the Leafs board a poster said some Generals fans were taking a bus to Saginaw to throw more Teddy Bears onto the ice, and did any Saginw fans throw GM's 3rd qurter report onto the ice?

If they did then it really sets up the story, a battle on the ice, in the stands, and in the offices of a small town Canadian mayor and a Prime Time American personality.

I can't wait for the movie.

I was at the game and after the first goal I would say about 10-20 fans threw the GM annual report on the ice. Then when Oshawa scored about 10-20 of them threw bears on the ice. After Saginaw's second goal fans threw more GM reports and almost got the team a delay of game penalty. Great game and great finish I hope the preparations are starting now for Stephen Colbert Day in Oshawa.

The GM report thing is hilarious. the fact that people actually printed them out and chucked them on the ice is even more hilarious.
