The streak is on, what's making the difference?

We've been on here to suggest what have been the problems during the slumps, now it's time to point out what has been making the difference with this current win streak.

Is it the D? Is it one player in particular that has turned up his game? The goaltending?

Thoughts.........

The goaltending has been huge. I don't think anyone can deny that.

I think mainly though, they've gotten a few breaks when they needed it, and their confidence built from there. It's hard to put a finger on what has changed, but that's probably because it was so hard to put a finger on what was wrong.

The other theory I have is that maybe it's just the month of NOvember. I'm not a superstitous person in the slightest, but the "November curse" for the Sens is just freaky. I remember in the early years of the Sens, November was always a horrid month. This streak seemed to happen right as the month began, and as soon as we've entered December, we've gone on a winnig streak. Wierd.

Agreed.

I'd much rather they start off out of the gates slow and pick up steam as the season progresses rather than pull a Bruins and start off strong and then shut down come December.

p.s. Judging by last night's 6-0 Leafs/Bruins blowout, the Bruins could be on the cusp of yet another meltdown.

The Senators have quit the figure skating and started to play rough and tumble hockey (made necessary by what the refs don't call anymore). They have found that nasty edge they need to play with, so no more no-contact hockey.

Goaltending.

Winning battles for the puck in the corners and along the boards.

Rolling 4 lines.

for me...It's be the goal tending and the fact that the players are showing up and playing 60 minutes.

The biggest thing I've seen is the fact that they aren't trying to play fancy hockey anymore. They have gotten back to basics and it's working for them.

Totally agree. They are moving the puck so crisp now that it looks like magic. And the pressure they were putting on the TB defenceman was incredible. Watching the 3rd period of last nights game, it makes you think how we even lose once during the season :p
